    Why cant fishing trawlers be used to scoop up the debris. Pay the fishermen to do this as a side line job

      according to: our world in data dot org (very much worth looking up!) 52% of the garbage patch comes from marine sources: fishing nets, lines, ropes, etc.

    • @seyhayoeun3449

      I like the idea but who is going to pay them? Someone would have to pay the fisherman to collect the trash and then pay more money to properly dispose or recycle it.

      iamnotfernando: I’ve checked into this for months now and it appears to be largely a hoax. Though there definitely ARE problems with global refuse being swept up and deposited in the seas, there actually is NO singular mass of plastic several times bigger (various reports) than say - the state of Texas. That is why there are no photos from aerial positions. Additionally, much of the ocean’s trash (collectively) originates from Asia - China in particular - NOT America, Canada, greater Europe, etc. yet, the thrust of this is to TAX the rest of the world (much like carbon taxing) in order to provide “funding” to clean up these nonexistent continent sized floating islands of debris.
      Don’t be fooled - do your own research - do your own investigations.
      Go to school and GET AN EDUCATION!!!

      It's okay guys I was just out there, it's only a few hundred bottles and some plastic forks stuck in a whirlpool.
      Edit: Whoops, I dropped a pack of 100 plastic straws overboard. They are now part of the garbage patch. They are pretty colorful though.

    • @Jackson37737

      Terrible Tanner: 100 straws, a few hundred bottles and some plastic forks - the size of TEXAS?!!! How exactly is THAT done??? Must be REALLY spread out!!!
      (Were you able to count the forks???)

  • @william.parker

    If you wonder why it looks so small or doesn't look too bad, it's because most of plastic garbage in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is broken into very small pieces from the sunlight, collision, friction, etc., and they are nearly invisible from aerial or satelite image. Though they are very small, microplastics are therefore very hard to filter and be cleaned. If I remember correctly, about 90% of all plastic garbage in the ocean are microplastics (though it depends on how you define a microplastic in terms of size). That's why we are finding more and more microplastics in bottled water, fish, other seafood and stuff. Fortunately, us humans (at least in the First World countries) have the technology to filter these plastics and unfiltered very small microplastics are not very poisnous (because we can't diget plastic they just pass through our digestive system and come out of your body when you take a dump!). But bigger plastic pieces that we wouldn't normally eat (like a broken piece of plastic fork or a plastic bag or a lighter for example) are eaten more and more by marine creatures and a considerable number of them die and suffer from these plastic garbages. And the number of plastic garbages is rapidly increasing so we should keep an eye on this. JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE IT, IT DOESN'T MEAN THIS IS A HOAX!

    • @proapocalypse1448

      Yeah right, you can't see if because it doesn't exist. This video is bullshit. There is land all around this garbage. Not in the middle of the ocean.

      @60zoneoneway ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i disagree, if it's visible like that large, dark cluster seen in 0:37 (and looks like it stretches over the horizon) means you should be able to see clusters like that as a satellite image
      more evidence are broken ice clusters in the antarctic, if you can see big white ice clusters you should be able to see a brown muck of plastics in the ocean

    • @rod1575

      Bullshit. There is no patch thats why there are no photos or videos. Im sure there is garbage in the ocean but not like they make it out to be. Its all about money just like the climate change hoax.

    • @LicoriceCamo
      @LicoriceCamo หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ya I disagree as well. U can’t just blanket your claims with long worded excuses and say it’s the same thing. That’s what leftists do, stop it. Gross. Every single mainstream claim says “visible garbage patch the size of a country” and it’s a L.I.E. I’m sorry nobody believes you guys and you are not wrong either, but microplastics getting into marine life is a corresponding effect from the garbage patch, not the garbage patch itself. You need to stop talking with your emotions and start using your brain little girl

      @Jim Ye So how hard it is to take photos from a boat then? I have still yet to see a picture or video of this alleged garbage patch as big as a country. Why are there plenty of photos of polluted rivers that you can clearly see the garbage. Yet for some reason this garbage patch is invisible. This video is not the garbage patch and I bet if you find wherever this video was taken all that garbage will be gone. This is not real. There is no garbage patch.

    0:15. I never realized france, germany and spain were such tiny countries. And much, if not most, of what is shown around 45 to 50 seconds is not garbage or plastic, so the so-called patch is even less dense with garbage than one might like to imagine.

    • @ub2bn

      @Jim Ye I do not recall encountering a plastic slurry, last fews times I swam in the ocean... I guess I just got lucky. ;/

    • @FireDramine7
      @FireDramine7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ub2bn you can't see if you have cancer either, so you'd rather wait till it shows and then do something about it? The reason is that they're microplastics that cant be easily seen. Do you know how vast the ocean is? A patch the size of Texas with microplastics on something like the ocean will still be barely visible. And if you look into it the patch isnt right next to a country. So saying "when I went swimming" is stupid unless you went to the middle of the pacific ocean to swim which I highly doubt. Look at a visualization of the amount of debris around our atmosphere. It's a lot. Yet you cant see the debris from here and still see a bright sky at night? Weird huh? If you're gonna make arguments at least make them logical and not so easily dismantled.

    We need to understand that life is extremely rare and as the most intelligent species of the planet, its our duty to protect every single living organism from a non-natural death. The best case scenario is we make space travel super cheaper and stop this by dumping the plastics on other inhabitable planets or moons. Otherwise a time may come when we will have to leave this planet and find another habitable one and the latter case of finding another habitable planet is very less probable than the dumping one.

      Why aren't people viewing it?? Because it is NOT the GPGP - it is simply near short floating patch of seaweed polluted by lots of plastics/debris and has nothing to do with any Great Pacific garbage patch. If we want to direct attention to the pollution of our enviroment being done by developing nations, then we need to be truthful and factual in our reporting of these issues so those who fight it, will not have reason to doubt that we face problems. And that problem is NOT the west (so taking away our straws and forks in the US/Europe will do little to help). The problem is in Asia/India/Africa where there are no trash collection processes and people are just dumping it in the streets/which flows to the rivers/seas, etc. Wake up people to these less than serious scare mongers and demand they tell us the truth which is bad enough!! @@proapocalypse1448 please think logically just a few seconds. Look at an image of all satellites circling the earth e.g. there's thousands yet you dont see a big patch of satellites during the day or clear moon night. Cuz they're small in comparison and spread. Same with the microplastic. There are tons and tons of them floating around but spread far apart that's why you don't see a big patch. There's millions of bacteria on your face yet you don't really see a patch of bacteria. Because they're small af and spread over a big area in comparison.

      @@FireDramine7 So what is the deal with this video then? This doesn't look like microplastics to me. I can clearly see the garbage here. So why is this video showing floating garbage if the garbage patch is made up of microplastics?

      @@proapocalypse1448 not all of it is microplastics, most of it is. Ffs man google shit. It's not hard. It really frustrates me how fucking retarded some people are. Unless you're mentally handicapped you have no excuse to not know how to google shit and use a little logical thinking.

    Only solution to fix the environment of nature is take as much as possible put them on about 1,500 spaceship and send them to the sun so it can demolish and burned them to ashes
