When my oldest was in 9th or 10th grade one of his teachers gave the assignment to make “trading cards” of famous scientists. The list they were to pick the names from was of ONLY White men. I asked the teacher if his cards could show Black scientists and she said “yes”. After the assignment was graded, she sent a note home asking if she could keep the cards because they were so “nice and well done”. Reluctantly, I told her “yes, if my son didn’t care”. Listening to this video I hope that teacher added women and people other than White men to the future list. Oh, and that project introduced me to Ed Bouchet. I appreciate the reminder of this brave man.

❤Shout out to New Haven, CT! Unfortunately, many of us New Haven natives never learned about this brilliant man in our local schools. Same for the Honorable Constance Baker Motley. If only local children new the greatness that walked these New Haven streets.
It is apparent that the narrative of Black accomplishments, particularly at the level discussed reveals how important this platform is. Keep centered. Living abroad on the African Continent, hearing this discussion continues to give hope that these kind of discussions are needed and necessary at this point in politics. Inspiring.
Interesting show - however, did not Dr James McCune-Smith also earn a doctorate degree from Glasgow University in Scotland in 1837. The first African American man to qualify as a medical doctor. (Ie PHD) 1837, fantastic. Dr Edward Bouchet also qualified as the first African American to earn a PHD in physics in the USA in 1876. They have both achieved greatness. I’d like to celebrate them both. Ok Thank you very much, thank you very much 🤩✌️
Entropy does not decrease other than by increasing the entropy of another system. It makes sense that chaos increases the further we extend out from the earth or "our system". The wealth of many being held by a tiny few is the epitome of chaos. How can we disrupt our own entropy?
Because of you Professor Karen, I say Blessings to the Ancestor Ed Bouchet. There are so many amazing Black Ancestors. I thank you and Dr. Carr. Professor Karen each day I always ask God what was the purpose of all this nonsense? Bishops say "Stand still and watch God" I am not being irreverent but Black people have been standing still a LONG time, there was truly no need for slavery. This US could have been built by Black people without the institute of slavery. I can imagine that, I wonder how much further the world would have been.
