very very nice video .... I just brought the NTG3 right before I seen this video .... but you just relax me because I brought the right one.... peace and love always ✌️
I'm still amazed at the quality and production work of your videos. Keep it up and soon you'll make it big! Looking forward to seeing you grow! I will say though, instead of saying "This one, and this one", use the name of the product. I had no idea what you were pointing to when you said "this one" because I am not familiar with these mics and can't tell the difference. Also, what happened to the part where you said you'd try to make them sound the same @ 00:06? This video was kinda all over the place eh? Haha I hope you learn from this and keep improving, that's the great thing; there's always improvements!
Thanks for the feedback! I was attempting to make them sound the same by using them in the same style of application instead of using one as a camera mounted mic and one as a boom mic. I should have made that more clear.
Awesome comparison Randy! As an owner of the OG VideoMic Pro, it definitely helps me with my curiosity as to whether I should switch to the NTG-line or get the upgrade.
Wow! Thank you for sharing. I am surprised how well the Video Mic Pro+ stack up against the NTG3. The difference is quite noticeable when you normalized the sound at -20db, but when you are talking the difference is less noticeable.
Glad it was helpful! Yeah, it surprised me as well! Definitely a huge difference if you're trying to record quiet sound effects and such, but for dialogue, it's hardly worth the extra work and expense.
Definitely can tell a different but like most microphones, I wouldn’t say one sounds better than another. Maybe one is more preferable in certain contexts…. Ie if you aren’t exactly right in front of the microphone and might be slightly off axis
The MKE200 and MKE400 are pretty outstanding! I have the most experience with the VideoMic Pro+, but I think it’s too expensive now that other options are available
Hey, thank so much! Yea it's a bit much for that little vlogging camera 🤣. I actually did a shootout to see if it's worth mounting the VMP+ on the ZV1, but the internal mic on that camera is actually pretty darn reasonable!
Does the NTG3 sound much better to you? Thoughts?
Great video, NTG3>>>

Thanks for the kind words! Enjoy your new mic! :)
This is a great review!!! Thanks so much for the in depth explanations!
You are so welcome! thanks for watching :)
Happy Birthday 🎂
I just ordered an NTG3b
Sounds awesome!
Oooooooooh I'm so jealous of the black one! I think they are identical, but the black looks so much better!

You are awesome. This is exactly what I needed without extra fluff.
Thanks man! I really appreciate the kind words 🙌🏻

That's awesome! I'm glad it was useful :) I was curious of the difference myself and figured maybe other people are in the same boat!
@@randyrektor You definitely guessed correctly! It helps a ton as a film student 👌🏼
@@jacksonkuffel8580 Amazing :) Thanks man!
@@randyrektor Thank you!
Very helpful. Especially outdoors. I could really hear a difference. NTG3 is more mellow.
Amazing! So happy it was recognizable in the video. Totally agree with you.

This is such a good point. Yeah, I feel like without hearing both back to back, they would both make awesome options.
Can you mount the NTG3 directly on the camera without buying additional equipment? I've been looking for this answer forever.
No there’s nothing to hold it to the camera. It comes with a standard mic clip and maybe you could rig something up using that.
@@randyrektor what's the best on mount mic you recommend?
The MKE200 and MKE400 are pretty outstanding! I have the most experience with the VideoMic Pro+, but I think it’s too expensive now that other options are available
@@randyrektor what if you have to NTG hybrid? Worth switching?
You. Are. Amazing.
Good video! Seeing the pretty big pro+ and NTG3 mounted on the small ZV1 gave me a little giggle. Love it!

Great comparison!
Thanks Joe!
Happy belated birthday
Thank youuuu! Much appreciated :)
I heard a world of difference. NTG3 is the clear winner!
Nice
The NTG3 is light years ahead.
Agreed, it’s especially noticeable with the raw files!
