Another way to get your first clients is to get a business card and distribute it through interior design stores where they may have clients who need professional advice. And to have a good website with a good portfolio and maybe offer consultations on interior design and charge for that.

Still at establishing business stage, have an 'idea' towards pricing.
Always nice to get an honest, raw perspective of the industry from you Cynthia.
    Thank you 🫶

Exciting times ahead Anna! 👏 Hope it goes well for you. The more experience you get the clearer the vision you'll have on what you're able to charge 👍
And of course you can always jump on the mastermind if you want to dive deeper.

I live in Wyoming, USA. After being a stay at home mama for 10 years I got a job as an interior designer making $26/hr. I had graduated with a bachelors degree and masters degree back in 2011. I worked while in school starting at $7/hr, then $10/hr internship, then a graduate assistant at $15/hr. Then was offered a job at $16/hr back
In 2012 that I turned down to stay at home with our first kiddo.

Oh wow, well done for jumping back into the industry! How are you feeling about it?
And thank you so much for sharing the insights!
As I compare it to the UK average, it does seem higher but then again your cost of living could be higher etc.
Do you feel like your wage is fair compared to the work that you're putting in?

@@SpaceForEdit I do think the wage is ok but honestly would probably make more if I was working for myself and doing contract work… maybe. I’m not ready to go it on my own just yet. The networking, marketing and essentially getting my own jobs sounds like a bit much for the time I have to invest. I work for an architect and there hasn’t been a lot of interior design work in what they have done recently, so I feel a little stuck. Plus I have a newborn baby, still on maternity leave for another week… trying to figure out how to get work done with him in my arms.
