Back in August 1999, I found a black and white young adult male cat nosing around the dumpster at my favorite restaurant. He was obviously a stray. I took him home and he turned out to be the best cat I ever had. He died of cancer about nine years ago. I still miss him.
Strays make the best pets. We too adopted a stray. Six months old, all white, pink nose and ears. She died at 17, of cancer in 2002. Best cat ever. I'll miss her for the rest of my life 🥺🐱

@@donnabaardsen5372 I have a girlfriend in Washington state whose cat Lily Bell was all white and lost both her ears to cancer before it metastasized. So beautiful but they can be so heartbreaking. Same thing with most tuxedo cats they seem to not be a very Halle offshoot of cat genetics. My girlfriend add to tuxedo kittens from bideawee in NYC and she lost both of them to some form of thorax cancer. We adopted a tuxedo kitten from a local couple who had been conceived in Valley Forge Park and she passed away suddenly at the age of three and a half. Very heartbreaking because they are just the nicest most personable cats but they don't last very long.
I had a stray cat that we named Tom but he liked me and my mum, he was a tuxedo but fluffy and very affectionate. He’d lived to the age of seventeen last year, and I miss him every day.

Don't I know it!! We live in the country and I remember when we "acquired" our first barn cats. Since then, I've lost count of the number of cats that have showed up at our door. Some have stayed. Some have moved on after staying a while. But we now have cats residing in literally every structure on the property - the house, two barbs, a shed and a lean-to. They're often terrified when they get here, but they all worm their way into our hearts. We didn't set out to do this. It just happened organically. We don't force them to live anywhere in particular either. They're welcome to come inside - though that can get overwhelming for us at times! One cat came into the house for the first time after about eight years the other night - magical moment!! She still doesn't want to be touched, but that's okay. She's working at her own pace. We keep the garage warm, and there's a furnace in the big barn, so there are options for those that aren't ready to trust humans. Food and water is always available. It's definitely a cat's workd and I'm just a servant here!

My elderly cat, Pedro, found me on a walk. I heard him crying and called, kitty, kitty and he burst from the riverbank, and climbed me like a tree. He rode home on my shoulders. He has owned me for almost 20 years now. Animals know who to hitch a ride with lol! 🐈🐈🐈

Yes, indeed. Tyrion has its origins in the Welsh language meaning 'kind' or 'gentle.' Perfect name for that lovely Welsh corgi and that cat showed equal amounts of sheer grit in order to survive!!

I think Gritty was used to standing up for himself in the great big outdoors. So when Tyrion tried to show him who was boss, Gritty was having none of it.

Looks like my Bandit who we found as a stray as a kitten. That cat moved multiple times across the country with me and was by my side for almost 19 years. He passed away from cancer last year and I miss him terribly. I know he had a good home so I take comfort in that.
Thank you for keeping Gritty!! I especially love that you didn't just say "my dog hates cats- so no", but you tried, and look at how it worked out! So many people say "my cat" "my dog" "won't accept" "hates" other animals etc. a lot of times, it's the owner that is the holdup. Now Tyrion has a buddy, sibling, and partner in crime. Love it!

The minute I saw...almost said my cat! lol! I had the identical situation, I found a cat on the third floor meowing with the same white dot on the back and the same color! Went straight to the vet, bcs she had a wound on her head. By the time she healed we created a bond and nobody wanted her. So now she is five and she has that diva personality. She felt in love with my first cat, so now we have two. The first one was cash, so the second one as she was small at the time when we found her, was named "penny" lol
My point was: save cats, they will give you a lot of fun memories)

Tryion just needed to meet a cat that didn't take any of his lip. I'm glad they get along so well with each other. We used to have a female dog that everytime we brought home a new kitten (and it was done quite often, we lived out in country and needed a mouser but given where we lived they kept disappearing) she wanted to love on them so much but at first they would have nothing to do with her. This caused her lots of distress, but eventually we would find the new kitten trying to nurse off of the dog and she would lay there and allow it even after the cat became full grown. She had puppies in the past but it had been many many many years since her last litter, but her maternal instincts were strong.
You did so very very well there lady. Giving a homeless cat a home, saving his life and managing to get your dog to accept him and come to love him. I wish all three of you long and happy lives together.

I found a tiny black & white kitten in the early 2000’s leaving my friends apt building one night. As soon as I opened the lobby door, his little head peeked up and he meowed. He must have been around 6 weeks? I ended up keeping him, named him Stickers and he lived for 15 years. He was so cool, loved car rides, would flop down on sidewalks in front of strangers to show his belly (so rare) to get pets, gave tons of kisses on my body to the point of rubbing my skin raw!….he passed in 2019 and I miss him so much 😢
I've seen several videos of black & white kitties with similar marking. They all seem to have that people loving personality like our kitty that passed away Checkers. We definitely miss him. So glad you found Gritty and made a home for him. 😻
The “soundscape” we hear when Tyrion and Gritty (GREAT name, btw!) are kind of evaluating the risk posed by the other is BRILLIANT.
Such a beautiful video. I experienced a very similar situation many years ago. Long story short, my dog and cat became BFFs and spent almost 15 years as cuddle buddies. They both went on to Heaven about the same time. I believe they did not want to be without each other. Even though they have been gone for years, the loss is still so painful.😪 I wish you three many happy loving years together. ❤️

I love this woman's attitude, I think she did everything right and she's clearly very caring. Gritty made an excellent decision choosing her! And Tyrion the dog is so sweet too, it seemed like once he realised that the cat wasn't intimidated Tyrion accepted Gritty as an equal and welcomed him into the pack! 😊❤️

He almost looks exactly like my Bandit! I was outside with my mom and dog when I heard these tiny mews and it took me two hours, but I was able to catch him. He was 8 weeks old, all by himself, couldn't find mom and no one claimed him. He's my baby boy now.

My cat came to me as well in a similar way. Same deal, he was skinny, unchipped, unneutered, meowing his head off and really seemed to need some help. Except he just randomly showed up in my yard one day while I was crying on my front porch. I was grieving the passing of my dog, Dream. He had passed away exactly 3 months before. So, for this cat to suddenly show up just then seemed like a gift sent from beyond. He's my little angel. So, I named him Anu which means "angel" in Tamil. 😇 🐈
That's a beautiful story. I'm glad you found each other, I know all too well the pain of losing a pet. Lost mine over 10 years ago and it still makes me cry. I miss him so much it hurts.
@@Orlandeau2415 I'm still barely functional over one year later due to my grief. Anu is the only thing keeping me going and keeping my heart from shattering into a billion pieces. I knew it would be hard when it was time for my pup to move on. Just never fathomed how hard. It's been very surreal. I miss him SO MUCH. 😢😭💔
But I couldn't be more thankful for Anu. 🙏
@@WildAlchemicalSpirit It was/is so hard for me I think because I'm somewhere on the autism spectrum (never diagnosed but pretty sure), It's near impossible for me to make friends and even harder to keep them. I can't form close bonds with people even though I really want to. With Pudge, the one I lost, I was able to form that deep bond with him so when I lost him, I felt so alone again and still do. 39 years old and no friends.
I had a feral cat I named Missy finally trust me after 8 straight months of daily effort, and she ended up pregnant and decided to bring her babies into my house into my room. I started fostering her after that, I was the only human she'd let anywhere near her and we became really close over 7-8 months. Unfortunately, I could not keep her so I had to give her up. I miss her so much, I think she really would have helped me. Anyways, I'm glad you have your kitty, they can do wonders.

One of the reasons tyrion bonded with gritty is because she did. The other cats were threats, this one was part of the pack. "ok, it's a new member I have to get along with it because the alpha has".
To have one dog or one cat to love and take care of and have them love you back is a most wonderful and truly amazing and incredible experience. To have a dog and a cat to love and take care of at the same time and get loved back by them at the same time is beyond description. That woman is so fortunate and s blessed and she is an angel for taking in both a dog and a cat.
