This is exactly how my asthma attacks have been, minus the falling over and barely being able to breathe. My breathing is definitely impeded, but thankfully it doesn't get to this level. Mine are just as sudden.

I have this cough for about 4 months now. So I finally went to the Docs only to be told I have asthma. She didn't run any test, she just assumed based on my symptoms of just coughing constantly. I thought asthma was when someone is having a hard time breathing? Which I don't have, I just have this severe cough that attacks me sometimes. She gave me an inhaler and I feel like it doesn't do anything because I'm still coughing. What exactly is an asthma attack? Is it like constantly coughing and can't stop?? I don't think I have asthma.

My asthma has always been rather mild, and I haven’t needed my inhalers in years! But over the last few days me and my partner caught a cold, over a couple of days I started to notice it was slightly harder to breath.. but didn’t think anything of it and I don’t normally carry my inhalers as I don’t need them hardly ever! But last night I genuinely felt like I could not breath and was up all night, and then today it got so bad I called 111 and ended up in the doctors white as a sheet and feeling like I was suffocating, thankfully he had an inhaler right there and told me if my symptoms got any worse again to go straight to the hospital, ventolin is an absolute godsend

This is scary as shit, cause I'm technically diagnosed with asthma, but legitimately can't remember the last time I've ever had an asthma attack before (apparently it was when I was 4 and maybe bronchitis).
I'm lazy with my inhaler because of it, I usually leave it around and my parents move it wherever, so I'm not sure if it's always in the same place. If I had a sudden severe asthma attack from waking up alone one night, and I couldn't get attention or reach my phone quick enough, I might be boned

    • @danien2411
      @danien2411 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@paul_particularlyunhappynut you sound similar to me in that I very rarely actually need it, but it’s always so important to carry your inhalers incase what happened to me happens to you… it’s unlikely but make sure you ALWAYS have a blue one with you, the worst my peak flow had ever been prior to this attack was around 300 which isn’t severe, but when I did one at this said doctors appointment (with difficulty) it was 120, the night I was awake I was too afraid to tell my boyfriend and his mum how much I really couldn’t breath (they had already been with me two hours with a paper bag ect and thought part of it was me panicking, which isn’t there fault as I understand people can panic and it makes it feel worse…) but in hindsight it was so dangerous and I should of just called an ambulance for myself as I very easily could of died (not to be dramatic) when I went to the doctors the next day I couldn’t even speak to my dad on the way because I was using every ounce of energy to keep enough air going into my lungs whilst also panicking, even walking to the waiting room I almost past out and my lips were tingling. Not trying to frighten you, as long as you can try and keep a blue one with you at all times you’ll be okay ❤️

@@danien2411 I see. I readed it all. Thank you for the comment. I know everyone's not the same, but if you held out for 2 hours, I think that paints a better picture. I should probably be able hypothetically to muster enough strength to find it/ask someone at home for it
Btw, I currently have bronchitis in my left lung (not joking). But it's not like I ever had trouble breathing during it, the coughing is just annoying. But I haven't felt a tightness in my chest like most asthmatics describe. I used my inhaler once just to make sure, but I didn't feel that much different. Obviously it didn't make the bronchitis and coughing suddenly disappear. So I suppose they are different conditions

      @xoxo9256 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I was diagnosed with asthma when I was a baby but since I was 13/14 years old I never needed inhalers anymore. Until I was 27 and I had a sudden asthma attack alone at home while I was chilling and watching a soccer game. At first I thought it was only alergies but it got worse, with shortness of breath. So it never really goes away, it can get better but asthma stays with you. We should always have our inhalers in case something happens. I didn't have any and needed to stay the night at the hospital to have it under control. Now I need the inhalers regularly again. It's always been a mild asthma but it's still really annoying to know you're not at full capacity of breathing.

    • @paul_particularlyunhappynut
      @paul_particularlyunhappynut ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@xoxo9256 I see. Thanks for the comment, that puts things in perspective. Did they figure out what might've caused it? Jesus, that happening while your chilling watching TV is scary. Most asthmatics say it happens with heavy cardio like running or an allergic reaction to something. But it's even more scary to me if your or my lungs can just peace out from nothing, for seemingly no known reason. like wtf?!
I don't seem to be allergic to anything. And if I'am, not anything that I know of. Well, I'am to pollen like everyone else on the planet. But it just makes my nose runny. No tightness or short breath or anything like that.
I've heard of peak flow meters to check your base breathing level, but idk how much it'd practically help tbh. Like, I don't think it can predict an asthma attack weeks or months ahead I think. And even then, you'd have to check it regularly, right? (somethin im too lazy to do 💀)

Today at school, I had witnessed a kid having an asthma attack. He just got back from running a mile at gym and he just laid on the floor having trouble breathing. It sounded terrible, I almost wanted to cry. Some kids laughed a little but it wasn't loud, it was silent in the room though. I was just staring to make sure he was okay. Multiple teachers came in to help and told us to move the chairs out of the way, I felt bad because he started crying and it looked like he was in pain. My teacher brung in a wheelchair and sat him on it, I don't know where he is now but possibly in the hospital. I prayed that he was okay... But to anyone who suffers from asthma, always carry a pump because it can end up badly and possibly fatal, take it seriously! Stay safe and god bless ❤😊

      Please be careful.
My younger brother was like that. Thought he out grew it in his 20's.
They always warned us this type that goes dormant & returns later in life is the deadliest form of asthma. Not only because it comes back out of the blue but also because the attacks are A LOT stronger.
If you don't have an inhaler I can give you the advice the doctors gave us for him. Get some form of citrus juice into you ASAP. Orange Juice is best but fresh squeezed lemonade or limeade will also work.
The key is to drink 8 ounces of Citrus juice, preferably in 5 minutes. The citric acid actually helps cut the mucus & relax the airway.
I have Reactive Airway Disease (not asthma) & it works for me as well. We've notice the Simply Orange juice brand works the best because it's all juice, no water to dilute it.

Its so hard trying to breath, grasping for air, trying to take some air in and let it out as fast as possible. Because taking it in feels like its just stuck in your chest, and you have to let it out because keeping it in for too long feels like you really need to take in some new fresh air because there is too much carbon dioxide . The breath is always stuck in my chest. And because of my fighing to breathe it hurts my chest really hard. Sitting up sleeping every night until its over. Suddenly Waking up feeling like you were under water for long and are about to die and need to breathe. Coughing the crap out your chest because you havent taken a deep breath for long and now the breath feels like its coming up in your throat. Getting into panic attack because you feel like thats gonna be yor last breath and you dont wanna die, exercise and simple walking is super hard, laughing is hard, yawing is hard, couging is hard, anything that has to use your voice is so hard when having athsma attack. Ive been through this so many times. And i really care for people who is going thorugh the same.❤ there are alot more complications that comes with it. And I believe that people who has to go through this. Is a biiiiig warrior❤. They knows exactly what fighting for life is.

Man I and a friend that had it bad and he would always forget his inhaler. His parent were bad alcoholics so they never remembered to make sure he had it before leaving. He spent the night at my house almost every weekend , his parents were very drunk and abusive. Well he would have horrific attacks every once and while at least 2 or 3 times a year and of course his parents would be passed out drunk so we would have to rush over to his house in the middle of the night or even some times call 911 so the ambulance could arrive with the inhaler faster then we could drive to his house. After like the 4th or 5th time my dad finall6 got a great idea to just get a extra one and keep it at our house. The terror my friend would have on his face when he realized he forgot his inhaler I will never forget. Funny thing is we kidna bonded over our illness I have a heart problem called SVT. We both get sudden attacks and both of our problem was scary.

from experience, i recommend going to somewhere cold this helped me. i remember i had asthma and strangely my inhaler didn't work for some reason, but I seriously didn't want to go to the hospital since it was night time and i wasn't feeling like going to the hospital, and what helped was the refrigerator, i opened it and put my face in and after a bit, it went away.

2:20 just wanted to mention a VERY important detail, when you do cpr you do it DEEP. As in atleast 2 inches deep. Ignore the risk of breaking ribs, your priority is the patient’s life
It’s also better to do it faster than the example in the video; most doctors would recommend doing it to the beat of the song “ Stayin’ Alive”
I would also recommend finding a video with more detailed instructions on how to do cpr
    (Im not a medical professional)

I have been close to death many times .
Im a chronic asthmatic .I agree with all of this ...
If inside house , it can really help to be near an open window...
..even in winter , the cold breeze helps me breath better .
The fridge has similar affect ..sit near open fridge.
Lean forward slightly , so that lungs can expand more .
Lungs are situated at back of your chest .. so you need to take weight
..of front chest off the lungs .
Thats why its so hard to breath lying down.
    Keep calm ....and be patient.
    Stay focussed .
Quite often if patient is severely ill
..with inflamed lungs ...inhalers dont work well..
..so sooner they have oxygen and steroids , the better .
Steroids will open the airways much better than anything .
They can only get this from doctors / hospitals .../ surgery.
Never give them a drink , as they can choke on this.
Severe asthma can feel like someone is sitting on your chest
..squashing your lungs, feels like trying to breath through a tiny straw.
It can hurt alot, and asthmatics need to concentrate on breathing .
Give them space and keep calm around them .
It will tire them out eventually ...
asthma attacks are very hard work..
so get call ambulance as soon as possible
    A useful tip..
Type up all your medical details up to date ..
List of medicene , name and address, allergies,
Date of birth, next of kin , any recent treatment
List of medical comditions . Names of doctors
    ..and specialists. Family contact details...
...and keep this on or near you at all times ..
When you are seriously ill or vunerable like this..
..you are unable to talk or concentrate when paramedics
..or doctors ask you questions .
This medical information can help them so much ,
    when treating you.
Also sometimes their medical computer system is down ,
..and they cant access information about you .
So show them your paper version .,
This applies to all people with any illness.
    Think and plan ahead .
If alone when you collapse with asthma etc
, bang loudly on something with legs or arms
(?eg floor, door, chair .....beep horn in car if in car ...
...or what ever is near you )...
..to get attention . Someone will come to you.
Its always best to be prepared for anything .
Infact it will keep you calm and could save your life.
    💚💚💚💚💚💚💚🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💚💚💚💚💚💚

What they don’t tell you about asthma. Its not uncommon to grow out of it. You still have asthma but it becomes less severe and say becomes seasonal.
If you don’t grow out of it during puberty, it gets way worse by the time you reach adulthood.

I don't know if I have asthma or not because my mom kept telling me it's low blood sugar but today I woke up and it was soo hard to breath and my chest tightens and my heart started bounding so fast and when I tried to get up my vision started getting blurry so I fell back to my bed that was like 2 hours ago now I still have to breath through my mouth but it's not as bad and whenever I go up the stairs to the class with my friends I find myself more tired then they are that I literally collapse to the floor and they think I'm being dramatic but I stay lying on the floor for 3, 4 minutes till it gets better do I really have low blood sugar or is it asthma? It's in my genes too my grandma has it

So I went to karate class and they said I had to run around the entire middle school(it’s about 2-3 miles💀) all of us started running and it was fine at first but half way it started to get harder to breathe and I was jogging instead of running ( instructor said no walking or stopping or you’ll have to restart) I was painfully breathing barely and it hurt a ton but when I sat down in the class once I finally got there I started crying uncontrollably and my throat hurt a lot and my chest was tight I tried making my way to the bathroom but I couldn’t really walk because my legs hurt so bad I went because I felt I’d throw up I was having a panic attack and asthma at once and it felt terrible I felt so embarrassed because everyone else was fine but me, on my way home I’m wheezing but I can breathe better
