Great Yarmouth is a resort town on the east coast of England. It's known for its long sandy beach. The Time and Tide Museum traces local history. The Nelson Museum focuses on the life of Admiral Horatio Nelson. There are penguins and sharks at the SEA LIFE aquarium. Merrivale Model Village features miniature landscapes and buildings. You can still go to great Yarmouth. Go on holiday for a week. Stay at seashore holiday park right by the beach and sea brilliant holiday park. I'm going to great Yarmouth in September for 2 weeks at seashore holiday park love it

I lived right opposite Merrivale Model Village our house was on Seafield Close, ( 1957 _ 1964 ). I was in my early teens, lots of things to do and see. It’s funny though, some weekends I would go to see friends in the Norwich area, but of course, they loved coming to stay at the house in Great Yarmouth, what with the Pleasure Beach, Roller Skating at the Wellington, and if the north wind off the sea wasn’t too bad a paddle and swim. Yes, great memories for sure, thank you for the trip down memory lane 😀😀😀
Took my kids to see the crankies on the pier. They still speak about it with fondness

My Grandparents lived in Great Yarmouth so for two weeks of the year it was my home town during the sixties and seventies. So many memories and so many changes. Love all the old buildings like the windmill and the Empire and loved the circus just behind the arcades. Nearly 30 years since my last visit, would love to go back, thank you for the memories xx
We was there last year in September and making a come back this year again in September this time for 2 weeks really love great Yarmouth plenty of shops and things to do and staying at seashore holiday park right by the beach and sea

Trotwood was what auntie Pegaty called david copperfield , that lived on Yaremouth beach in a up turned boat ! A great fiction by a great writer !
So As a kid I remember the waterways having like cardboard cutouts along the embankments of fairy tale characters and the big car park that you showed next to it, didnt that used to be a big boating lake?.. Its a shame how times cause so many childhood memories to disappear:-(....
Visiting a few years back I was shocked at the disappearing seafront and Britannia pier no longer being in the sea.. :-( Remember crabbing off the lower level at the end of there and being evacuated out of the theatre when Paul Daniels was on because of a bomb scare (back when the IRA were around).. Yarmouth was our destination for 2 weeks every year during the summer hols and it was brilliant.... Heading back end of the month with daughter and grandkids so hopefully Im not going to be too upset of how much has gone and changed ;-) Thanks for the video and memory jog ;-)

Another brilliant video. Bringing back great memories. Me and my mate had a great week in Great Yarmouth many moons ago, 1974 to be exact. I've not been back since. I remember my mate hitting a golf ball on the pitch n putt and hitting a guy who was on the next tee. On the next hole he hit the same guy again. The guy wasn't amused the second time. We went to the stock cars that week too. Good times!
ha ha bet that guy on the pitch and putt was furious!! 🤣

So I'll watch your videos on You Tube instead. Great Yarmouth is a wonderful town. Those two cinemas were grand indeed, and so were the hotel facades. We have nothing on that scale in Australia. GY even has a couple of casinos ! My brother was in Great Yarmouth only yesterday, which is why I thought I'd explore it on YT. Thanks & All the best !

The Imperial hotel is definitely the best Hotel in Yarmouth, shame you didn’t get to try their Terrace restaurant, amazing food and great place to enjoy an evening meal, watching the world go by 👌

I remember when i was younger there was a great yarmouth sea front attraction with a 30 foot king kong in it, It was brilliant also the noah's ark attraction

My first visit to Gt Yarmouth was when I was taken there by my parents in 1938. This when both piers and a jetty stretched out over the sea. I've been back many times but when I last visited four years ago I was sad to see how it had gone downhill. One disappointment was not being able to get Nicholl's chips in the marketplace in the evening. Perhaps, since then, it has improved.

17:50 You can see the old cinema in the background there on the right. I remember going in there whilst on holiday and it was raining so much, we had to move seats as we were getting dripped on INSIDE lol
That and on the way back there was a literaly blast of water coming in through a wall gap, told the staff about the floor being all wet and they said 'yeah we know, it happens in heavy rain it gets a bit damp', and we said 'no, it's flooding back there, it's pouring through a wall', and saw them get worried.
I assume they did something about it after we left, but yeah blimey :P

This is the same place where they filmed that Britain on Benefits documentary I think, isn't it? One of the most deprived towns in the country.

So far looking terrible with everything closed. Were they still in lockdown? Otherwise looks a buitiful place. Its hard to imagine its May, Usually hot summertime and crowded. Definitely a place to visit though. I'm just saying it looks so poor with no one there. Ha.

I personally disagree, I have lived in Yarmouth + belton (just outside Yarmouth) my whole life and I love going to the seaside at the summer 😄

Quite far - Great Yarmouth is right out on the East and a long long long way from anywhere else!
And the worst drive too - small roads, tractors and speed cameras all the way!
It's a shit pit.
Its a shame the council don't spend some money on the Wellington Pier Winter Gardens. Instead of letting it go to rack and ruin. A lot was spent on the Marina when we had a perfectly good one which could have been updated at a fraction of the cost. BJD
Hemsby down to GY is one of my favoutite places on earth. Love it all and have since I was a child, just wish the Arcades had more of the older games and didn't have so many broken parts.
