Love unboxing day!! And how funny I clicked on this today, I'm on the last day of wearing my heart monitor to lol.
You're looking so good! I hope you're getting stronger every day!
So happy you’re doing well! ❤
We love Notgrass History as well. We're currently using American the Beautiful for my 7th Grader and I plan to use them all the way through high school. We are using BJU for the rest of our subjects this year.
Janelle I am glad you are doing well. We love Notgrass in our home!
Janelle, seeing a new video from you is like Christmas in august for me. ❤️
Hope your doing well and better every day 🙏🏻
You have bin my go to Homeschool mom from day one of my homeschool journey 9 years now 🎉.
Thank you for sharing all your wisdom and thoughts with us, and not just for the educational purpose but even more the spiritual one ❤️🥰
Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
Aw, thank you. 🥰
You look great! Curriculum unboxing is my Christmas, too! 😂
You look great!!!!
Happy to see your feeling better🙂
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!! 😊
My 10th grader is using Exploring World History, and my 8th grader is using From Adam to Us this year. We love Notgrass!
Yay!🎉 love those choices. We are using Generations, IEW, Math-u-see and Teaching Textbooks plus some journey forth books from BJU ❤
That is awesome!
We're using BJU PRESS for Science & Spanish for my rising 9th grader. We're doing Abeka Math for him, Masterbooks Biblical Archaeology, IEW SSS for Language, Notgrass World History, Notgrass Economics, and Apologia Bible for all of I our children along with Not Consumed Bible Studies.
My younger kiddos are doing The Good & The Beautiful for Language (1st & 3rd graders), Abeka for Math (3rd Grader), Beautiful Feet Character studies, Beautiful Feet Geography, Notgrass Star Spangled History, TGTB Math (1st grader), and TGTB Science. My Preschooler is doing Before 5 in a Row & TGTB Preschool. (Not sure how much, she's only 3 but DETERMINED to do school. 😂😂)
Thanks for sharing!
Love unboxings! ❤ We’ve used Math U See from the beginning. Heading in to Delta for 4th grade this coming year. We’re trying Notgrass OSSS along with Sonlight D Readers to go along with it. 😊 Plus Sonlight Language Arts 4 to go along with the readers.
Sounds like a great homeschool year ahead!
My son LOVED Notgrass World Geography last year! It's so colorful and engaging!
Yay! That’s good to hear.
In addition to MUS we are using Sonlight for History, Bible, and Literature. We also use their Science. We also use All About Reading and Spelling with IEW Structure and Style and Fix It! Grammar.
Love it! Thanks for sharing!
I love Math U See as well. I have kids using Primer, Alpha, Delta and Pre-Algebra.
MUS is great! I remember the first time I heard about it at a homeschool convention and I thought, “I wish I had learned math this way!”
Those sticky envelopes drive me CRAZY! I just had a rant about that in my last Rainbow Resource delivery - LOL!
🤣🤣🤣
We are excited to be doing Notgrass From Adam to Us as well! They have the audio files for that too which we are using with it. It will also be our first time using Generations God's Big Story for reading. We are trying Masterbooks Academy videos as well. My 10 year old daughter is doing their Introduction to Sign Language Course and I'm doing Wowza Brain Connected Reading Level 3 with my 12 year old son. We are also trying AAS their new colored version with my six year old. We love All About Learning Press. Lots of firsts we are trying this year. We are looking forward to it.
Sounds like a great year ahead! Thanks for the reminder that Notgrass has audio! I had one child using the audio last year and it was very helpful.
We also use Math U See and we're using Notgrass From Adam to Us and Exploring World History this year! For science, my 9th grader is using Biology 101 and the rest of my kids are using Considering God's Creation from Eagle's Wings publishing. My 9th grader is also using Analytical Grammar and Madrigals Magic key to Spanish. My third and sixth grader are using Simply Charlotte Mason's Using Language Well and Spelling Wisdom. This year I have children from preschool to high school so lots of different curriculum here.
Sounds like a great year ahead! Thank you for sharing.
My daughter is in 10th grade. We are using Foundations in Faith and American History from Masterbooks, American Lit from BJU Press, Apologia Health and Nutrition, and starting with the Learn Math Fast system. I'm also going to do a course with unit studies on basic life, such as anxiety. So far a week in, and she finished everything by 9am!!! I'm finally getting some curriculum that seems to work for us. American Lit is the only teacher intensive course and I'm not sure how to handle it.
Love it!
Janelle, I was going to use Notgrass World History for my oldest a 9th grader as well. They say you can use it for a 1 credit of English and Bivle as well...but i just dont know of i should buy a separate grammar and writing (we've always used IEW for those 2) Thoughts about using Notgrass for those 2 areas as well?
You definitely can count 1 credit for Bible and English if your student does all the work in Notgrass but the English doesn’t teach grammar and writing… it just has writing assignments assigned for them to do. I think it’s a great option if your student already has a good grasp of grammar and writing and you want to keep it all streamlined. But if you think they need more grammar and writing help then you might want to stick with IEW and have them skip some of the Notgrass assignments (so they aren’t doing double work). Another option is to try Notgrass Bible and English this year and then go back to IEW next year if you feel the Notgrass English was lacking for your student. Hope that makes sense. 😊
HI Janelle! I am curious why you've switched your older kids to Notgrass from BJU history?
Great question! Mostly to switch things up for them. I have one child who loves Notgrass and does not want to go back to BJU and another who misses BJU history and is hoping to go back to BJU history next year. The rest of my kids don’t care either way. I’m always weighing the cost as well as screen time too since we use the BJU Press video lessons.
Hey Janelle,
You look great! I hope you’re feeling much better and that there will be forward progress with no set backs. Question for you …
We use Math-U-See right now and have since we started schooling as I wanted consistency with math curriculum; however, my two oldest kids don’t necessarily excel in math. Can you tell me … what are the differences between BJU and MUS and in what ways do you see each of these curriculums working better for some of your kids and not for others? Thanks!! 💗
In this video, I shared why I switched two kids over to BJU math from MUS, the differences between the two and pros and cons of each and how the switch actually went for us. Hope it helps! th-cam.com/video/fxEl1eXi97g/w-d-xo.html
@@JanelleKnutson Thank you!!!!!
I am curious...I am using BJU for the bible and LOVE the video. I am homeschooling my grandson and we used LOE for Foundations A and B and just started C. My question is, I see myself going to video...I am wondering if I should continue with LOE or just switch to online for grade one? How would that transition work? Any advice?
My new BJU unboxing video might answer some of those questions! th-cam.com/video/SuOVSB9iLoo/w-d-xo.html
I purchased BJU video grade kits for my elementary age kids but am switching out the spelling. You can certainly do that as well. LOE is an excellent program and I recommend sticking with it until you at least finish the foundation levels. BJU spelling/phonics is very different from LOE so a little difficult to switch over when they are just learning to read/phonics/spelling.
Also, if you didn't already know, BJU Press offers a combo pack for Heritage Studies and Science for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. You get both subjects for the price of one. Here's info about that: tinyurl.com/yx5t36fd
Many years I have purchased the combo (heritage and science) kit plus BJU video math and then used other curriculum for English for 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade. This year my 2nd grader is using all BJU Press video lessons except for spelling (switching out for All About Spelling) and reading we are rotating between All About Reading (to learn HOW to read better) and BJU Reading (for reading comprehension). Hope that helps and doesn't confuse you more!
For Bible my 4th grader is doing The Most Important Thing You’ll Ever Study by Starr Meade.
Great author! Sounds like a great Bible option! Thank you for sharing.
Are you doing any foreign language with your high schooler? 😊
My junior did American Sign Language freshman year, Biblical Hebrew sophomore year and Biblical Greek this year. No foreign language this year for my freshman. Kids that already graduated did 2 years of Spanish in high school.
