If you ask 3 different game wardens the same question about anything you are likely to get 3 different answers sadly. Can take the hunter safety class online through NRA btw
Yes, I have experienced exactly that and almost got a ticket. One warden was newer and interpreted the law different and his senior had to correct him. Great to know about the NRA! Thank you for sharing
It's because Doves are a migratory species. The Federal government mandates a 3 shot limit - it's also why you need your Harvest Information Program number (HIP).
@@brucerudd69 WHY??? Let's see.. How about we start with game wardens going on to private property and placing cell cams without ANY probable cause...?
Add trespassing just to find stand locations before season. In NC you have to have written permission to be on someone else's property with a weapon. Without permission or a warrant, it's illegal. They carry guns. Hold them accountable.

I dont want to misspeak so better ask someone at the WRC, but I believe you are grandfathered in at a certain age. Can not remember the age or cutoff. Welcome to channel! Hang around if NC outdoor adventures interest you
Interesting. One state away; and our Migratory Bird Regulations are different. Haven’t even looked at this years bag limit; and it varies year by year. Hours vary by the calendar.
Plenty of dove are still nesting in September, and the male and female take turns sitting on the nest and then raise the young together. That’s why I quit dove hunting 30 years ago
Just drove passed several well known dove fields in Butner area and the plantings this season seemed sparse to say the least. Got a few more to go check in the up coming days. But man they aren’t planted anything like the mid 90’s to early 2000s.
I was impressed with some of the ones I saw in March scouting for Turkeys, lot of evidence of corn and sunflowers still standing. B. Everett if you catch my drift
A little off subject, I’m about to fence in 1/2 acre plot. Did you see a big difference between the straight extensions versus the slightly angled extensions? Thanks really enjoy the content going through the same process here in s.c.
YES, I think that made a difference. Same reason prison's do it, makes it that much harder. I think it messed with the deers perception without having to do the double row
@@Yellowlab247_Outdoors we’re about to start. Waiting on the first season to pass then trees are coming down and our first fenced in section is on the way. If you’re interested , Im going to try and show most of the process on our channel. Really enjoy the videos, I love this part of the hunt.
I believe if you check the hunter safety course is age dependant, even if you haven't ever procured a license before if you were born on or before a certain year you still don't have to have a hunter safety cert. Also salt doesn't fall into the normal agricultural practices clause for top sewing.
Correct, there is a cut off for the hunters ed requirement, GREAT point. I think when you buy the license it asks if you were born before this certain date. MY top sowing was in reference to Winter Wheat only, you are right does not apply to any other grain or salt. You can also "plant" a Fall food plot for deer, doves love that too.
I a not going to do what he says about unloading a gun and headed for the game warden . We had a hunter killed by a warden in Wilkes county a few years ago. I’m laying my gun down and I’m laying down too….
NCWRC website says HIP is only required to hunt migratory game birds (doves, rails, gallinules, moorhens, woodcock, snipe or waterfowl). So, make sure your new hunter has their HIP before taking them on a "Snipe Hunt." 😉👍 *I understand Snipe is an actual wading bird species. But it still made me giggle.
Many of them will still charge you for baiting. Many of these officers do not understand agriculture just like much of the general public today. It will cost you more to fight it in court than to pay the fine and they know this.
It’s better for them if they leave it open ended. Gives them more leeway on charging people. Game wardens are servants of politicians. That’s it. Never forget. They’re not on our side.
@@auburnpack exactly, I almost got a ticket from a young officer and a senior had to step in and correct him. Said me planting millet in a pond and then flooding it was manipulating it. He said the flooding was considered manipulation. I said "hold up, what about down east corn impoundments"
@@Yellowlab247_Outdoorsyou would have won the case but would have cost you hundreds of $s. Would be cheaper to pay the fine and move on. That is the problem. Another reason people in NC are losing interest in hunting
You actually don't have to take the class. Just say you did. Next It doesn't matter what NC says. NC don't have a King. You do what you want to do. North Carolina stopped recreational flounder fishing. Yet allowed commercial flounder fishing without restrictions. Guess what, I'm still catching flounder. Like I said, we don't have a king. They can't control or stop us. Do what you want to do. You are free.
I have never unloaded my weapon because a game warden pulled up, I actually don't give a crap about his being worried about his safety, if he is scared of loaded guns he chose the wrong pfofession. The three shell bull crap is just for tickets...a limit is a limit. A limit produced by three shells is the same limit as produced by 5...these words were from a friend that was a game warden
Join me for a reaction and clarification video to the NC WRC recent TH-cam video discussing the upcoming dove season. You might find this interesting!
