  • This was so much fun, introducing Alexis to one of my favorite bands and memories. Metal Health from Quiet Riot was so important to the metal music scene. It was the first metal album to hit number 1 on the Billboard album chart. I also share some great photos of the band in this video. We hope you enjoy. Thank you ‪@QuietRiotVEVO‬ for the memories.

lol I wasn’t implying anyone is old. My parents introduced me to a huge genre of music from Beatles, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bob Seger, Dokken, Pink Floyd to metal. This came out in the 80’s but we were listening to it in college 92-96

Randy was the founding member of Quiet Riot, it was his band. He really struggled with if he should leave to join Ozzy. The final push was his mom, Delores, telling Randy that joining Ozzy was a once in a lifetime opportunity. You should think about doing the "Laughing Gas" live footage video. It's the best footage of Randy playing we have.

I remember being in 4th grade and they sold this album cover folder for the Trapper Keeper. No one now will understand how crazy this sounded in 1984. It's how they will play Metallica on an oldy station now. It took 20 years for that to happen. So for someone today imagine you were transported in time 20 years and have your mind blown by the music You hear played on the radio. It's like us hearing Jimmy Hendrix after hearing Stevie Ray Vaughan and thinking yah he's ok. Jimmy Hendrix blew their minds decades prior.

Hey Guys! Happy New Year, and thanks so much for kicking things off with such a BANGER! Like you, Burch, I was a year behind you in age/school and when this came out I have a stepbrother six years older than me who's Dad lived in Bernardino, CA at that time. He moved back home to Augusta, GA to live with us, and he brought three cassette tapes with him 1) "Out of the Cellar" by RATT, 2) "Shout at the Devil" by Motley Crue, and 3) this one from Quiet Riot. Needless to say, I was hooked immediately and still listen to pretty much nothing but 80's glam/"hair" metal to this day (cannot stand most current music!).
Also, in the seventh grade I had three good friends who were putting a garage band together. One guy played drums, another played guitar and the third guy was going to sing but they didn't know anyone in school who played the bass. They asked me if I wanted to learn bass, join the band and play with them and I said, "Yeah, sure...why not?!?" We wound up entering our middle school's talent show during which we got to play "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple and this song in front of the whole school in the gym. Ahhhhh, the memories - those were THE DAYS!!! Rock on, and congrats Alexis on the baby 🙂

I'm listening to this 40 years after I bought the album and I still can't keep from banging my head with the beat. I'm 19 again, wearing a blue denim vest over a white T-shirt.
    That's staying power. (Or imprinting)

This album was the very first album I bought at 12 years old. Absolutely loved it! There are other great songs like Slick Black Cadillac and well every song! I hope you two will review SBC in a future review.

I saw them at a small venue in the late 90's as well. It was in a small club called McGuffy's. It was a great show.

    Burch
We can't forget awesome Bass Riff from legendary Rudy Sarzo. Plus, Carlos Cavazo on guitars. Frankie Banali on drums, sadly, he in 2020. Rudy returned to Quiet Riot with new lineup currently touring. We also can't forget Randy Rhoads of Ozzy. He helped founded Quiet Riot. Kevin Dubrow was awesome! You know that his brother, Terry is a doctor, cosmetic plastic surgeon. I believe that Terry had to confirmed Kevin's body after his death in 2007.

Teach'em while they are young. Metal Health was the album that brought metal to the masses, no longer just an underground sound. Randy was one of the co-founders and his legacy goes way beyond music.

The song "Thunderbird" on that album was written by Kevin DuBrow about Randy Rhodes. The first part was written after Randy left to play with Ozzy and the second part was written after Randy died. Great song. You should do that one.

I'll bet the person she was thinking of was Brian Johnson from AC/DC since they are everywhere, even today, and its that higher pitched gritty vocals I think She is associating here.
