Do you use gasket sealer when you put the new valve cover gasket on
2:07 Turned into Rick Sanchez there for a second.
If you live up North, you should know that on the left side of the valve cover, there are 3 torx bolts that run parallel to the timing chain cover that are a bit higher and shorter. Just below them, in the front and in the back corners on the left side -- those torx bolts look like all the rest but they are not. On those two, the bolt runs through an inch long metal cylinder that is fixed to the cover that slides down into a metal tube on the engine block. The bolts thread into the engine block at the bottom of that tube. On my sonic those cylinders were rusted and the front one was very stuck. I had to wrestle, twist and hammer my cover to get it off. And use a lot of pb blaster. None of the videos I found identified this problem. Know that this is yet another job that on the video looks easy but up north where things rust, will be a bear.
Great vid!
That was not a great video, nothing was actually shown. It was all done off camera.
Appreciate the comment! ❤️
Did you use brake cleaner or something to get the old gasket off the metal surface?
What code was coming up? I believe I am going to need to do this on my 2016 Sonic.
Great video!
Oddly enough, mine didn't throw a code. Even if it did I couldn't check cause the terminal to check a code isn't installed? Only way I knew was just changing my plugs cause of skipping going on due to the oil fill in the wells.
So I don't get ripped off, How will I know if spark plugs need to be replaced?
Can a blown valve cover gasket cause oil to spray everywhere when driving?
yes
You skipped over the part where you unclip the wires from the side and back. That’s what I’m stuck trying to figure out how to unclip them
Me too
@@carlos.75there's other videos on TH-cam, you should just pull straight up and they come out, take your time and don't force it
Pointless video
