  • Journey back to never before scene films of the great Western Pacific Railroad. These are 60 year old images of classic Mountain and Smaller Switching operations, rarely seen. The Western Pacific Freight, Passenger and Interchange operations, made them an interesting railroad! Their "Highline" was also a very special piece of railroading that brought variety from the Great Northern and the bounty of the Northwest!. This also covers the Quincy Railroad that for many years operated a separate 23.3 mile branch running over former Southern Pacific branch from Wendel-Susanville, California which is now abandoned.
These are scenes from our complete WP movie "Western Pacific Vintage West"

Nice. I lived in the Sierra Valley from 1975-1993. Spent many hours trackside from Rock Creek to the Black Rock Desert. Also from Flanigan to Wendel. This brings back many fond memories. Thanks!

Looks like push pole pockets on the front of the 44 tonner . I like these vintage R.R. Films, thanks for sharing.

Wonderful video! I have been fascinated with the W.P. since I was a little kid. Even put in an application, but Santa Fe hired me first so I stayed with them for the next 41 years. Probably just as well as things turned out! Spent most of my years working over Tehachapi, lots of memories.
But still miss the good old Western Pacific!
Thanks for your wonderful video's! ❤

How interesting that those old F units became much more recognizably modern power that we still see around today!
