Nuyorican Soul - I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun It's Alright, I Feel It! (M.A.W Alternative 12" Mix) - Remix - Masters At Work - Vocals - Jocelyn Brown
This has got to be one of the best records ever made in the history of recorded music. Raw, powerful, sincere and genuine. This song is not a pose. You betta recognize!
God I miss the UK House Scene. Friends in the car, choons blaring and off we'd go. Using the dance music mag, Mixmag we'd check to see who was playing where and drive to the club. We lived in Scotland but would nearly always end up in the Leeds/Manchester/Sheffield/Liverpool area. The best crowds and clubs by far. Special mention to Cream, Hacienda, Ronson, Hard Times, Basics and The Sub Club in Glasgow. House is,was, and always will be, a feeling.
actually never did up north club wise, London was just superb...get into my mates car, Ministry, Paradise, Satellite, Sw1, Bagley's, Camden etc...great nights...we would just set out and find somewhere...great memories of being in my 20's...
We were a little further up, in the north-east. Sugar Shack at the Empire in Middlesbrough & Shindig at Foundation & later at (the slightly more polished & not quite as raw/warehousey) Digital in Newcastle were amazing clubs in their day. Went to the old Sankeys in Manc & loved heading down to Basics in Leeds.
i wish that I had listened to Jocelyn when we were young and in Brooklyn in the 60's to sing I dont know where I would be now...I was just too shy to sing in front of people but I would sing in church and in the clubs ...Love you Jocelyn much respect Love Lydia
100 quid?!? Man I've got this on vinyl, still wont sell it, just nice to know it's worth some cheddar. "The power of the groove, will always see you through.. it's alright, I feel it"
The youth of today is at a disadvantage. Nothing gets me off my feet like a sista belting out a house tune like she's singing lead in the gospel choir!
Kenny "Dope" Gonzarlez doing what he does best. His beats are just crazy!!! Just listen to the first minate of this track, as we say in London, HEAVYWEIGHT!!!!
you ain't silly - and you damn sure ain't old if you're feeling this!!!! this is the primo - top shelf stuff - because it only gets better as it ages!!!
The creators are Louie Vega & Kenny Gonzalez. Not sure anyone plays it now, it's circa 1997. Masters at Work dropped a cool mix of it on their Essential Selection mix16th Feb 1997... If you ever get chance to listen to the mix, I would ;-)

Yeah
Like the real deal. 👍🏻❤️
we need to bring this garage/house vibe back.
I hate sounding like a silly old man, but Lord, this is so much better than what's going on now.
This is perfection! If you believe in the power of groove, and that it can change things, say: "Alright!" now!
