You gotta see the video. You’ll understand the popularity. It’s crazy people forget a lot of fans were disappointed OKC wasn’t “the bends part 2.” But The Bends is legitimately one of the best rock albums you’ll ever hear. So freaking good.
I hate that someone recommends shitty live videos with dumb sound quality. "Just" is a fucking great rock song, but you can't get it from this version full.

Back in the day, the song and video were like, a huge freaking deal. Amongst me and my fledgling musician buds. I’ll never forget the first time I saw the video, thinking .. “you’re allowed to have three guitarist?!”

Regardless of that matter of personal preference, I don't really know how the OP could say it's "far from" being one of their most popular songs. It is solidly one of their most popular songs!
In 2007 Radiohead released their 1st album not under the contractual control of a big record company, called “In Rainbows” (prior to that they were with EMI); they released the album on their own website & invited fans to pay what they wanted to, even nothing if they wanted! ….. so maybe you have problems with the tracks before this point, but not so much afterwards? Just a guess David ;-)…… good review as always, one of my favourite Radiohead tracks & one I get some considerable nostalgia for, especially this version, as I was there for it! (Was wasted at my campsite overlooking the stage & saw & listened to it from a distance…. Was still good though, what I remember of it 😂).
Curious about the 50/50 blocking. Not what I would've expected... I'm wondering if it's newer or older songs where it happens, and if it has something to do with their old record label vs. stuff published since they were able to be more independent.

Your other reviews from them now includes two live cuts of songs released in the 90s and TV special produced outside of their WMG publishing for a song released in 2007 after they went independent. Without knowing what you've reacted to and had blocked, I'd say you'll have better luck with anything that has "From The Basement" attached to it (like your Reckoner reaction).
I did a live version, unfortunately. Afterwards I had a bunch of viewers suggest that I should listen to the studio version. I did, and yes it was much better than the live version.
The vocalist was sometimes singing lower-pitched lines than on the record, which I think is why he was masked by the lead guitarist at times. He has to look after his voice I guess but it can be frustrating when he doesn’t bother with the melody.
i wish you had reacted to the studio version, the video for that song is one of their best, radiohead live is hit or miss depending on thoms vocal performance on the day

Agreed, I think the blocking will be dependant on the record company, their copyright claim and nothing to do with the band.

Eh. not a fan of this song. It just felt very basic and boring to me, and it was also hard for me to hear the singer here as well.
I mean, the audio quality on that specific live version is pretty horrible
