Supposedly they fixed it sometime in the last 2 months, but treat parking at the birds like you would for random flotsam. (For the new players and uninitiated, you don't run through the middle of or park in the middle of flotsam because it may contain gunpowder kegs which will act as mines.)
Just coming in to correct/add-to something 😄 Regarding the Quartermaster Sails, it's not necessarily related to the Deckhand Sails. They have very different requirements/reasons. The Deckhand Sails were given to an official group of 'Deckhands' who were the original moderators in pre-launch, fighting off that chaos back in the day. They were given their own sails and title. They are not available in any way nowadays, as they honour the original people who did that work, which was a very very small team. The Quartermaster Sails (and title) are given to anyone who moderates any of Rare's social spaces (Steam, Discord, Forums, etc), any Community Managers (in-house or contracted) and our Customer Service and Support teams. They'd need to be on the team after March 10th 2022 when they were added. So technically they're still available, and there are only a few that have both the Deckhand and Quartermaster Sails that have stuck through ever since! It's still a fairly small subset of people, as those teams are quite small too 😄👍
Oh and the Fashionista's Finery Gloves was originally supposed to be 12, not 4. With 3 winners from each of the 4 themes. But gave instead to all 6 of each theme. So it'll be another 12 next time if all goes well. A good mention I think would've also been the Regions Sails from Cursed Sails! They're a hard find on the seas these days!
Im a proud pirate owner of the overachiever sails, I really just wish they were something more grand to look at...im surprised at the amount of full sets i also have showcased here too as i never really summed them all up at once...the nostalgia is definitely real...i consider myself very lucky to have the items i do, even if i dont hardly use any anymore

My favorite rare cosmetics are my "friend of the sea" title and scars that I got from the first event that happened when I started playing. You were supposed to alliance up and do stuff together, but everybody was aggressive so I ended up just sinking a ton of skeleton sloops on my own. It ended up making me a lot better at the game. All my experienced friends were surprised at my skills. I think that's why I'm so proud of the title.
You’ve brought back some memories for me: - My regret at not getting the Wailing Barnacle flintlock and blunderbuss (I used to never use these weapons, and spent all my doubloons on the rest of the set) - The ridiculous amount of time I spent grinding to hit pirate legend before the first anniversary. I bought so many letters of commendation to get my levels up to max (especially merchant) and was grinding up until the last day or two.
I was an original pre-order player. I have the black dog clothing set, day 1 patch, and launch crew eye of reach. I did some googling, and I am blown away at how much money people are willing to spend on these cosmetics that do not actually exist in real life. Crazy!
I'm so sad I played back then during some of these events but never pushed to get these items. I was so scared to do anything difficult back then, as I mostly played solo. I also don't agree that it's unfortunate the Legend curse was brought back. I don't think stuff like that should be time limited. Sails and certain clothing items, sure. But a whole curse?
My buddies and I never gave up on SoT and played from launch through all the tough times, grinded like hell to take down all the skeleton fleets for the time limited awards, and it actually makes me quite angry that they made bone crusher stuff available again, the drum also told a lesser extent. Kind of a middle finger to the people who kept your game on life support.
Remember the first few months were a pain to grind gold to buy the few cosmetics that were available? Nowadays gold rains from everywhere and the grind was cut in half. Not really salty about it. Just funny how hard we worked versus todays newer players
You playing the game when it was dead had zero affect on what the game has become. That was Rare. And US as a community. Not you. You’re speaking like you two donated money to keep their servers running. Please don’t give yourself credit for keeping the game alive just because you logged in and played. You didn’t do anything except waste your time on an unfinished game.
From the perspective of a newish player, the grind still exists… it’s just not painful. I’ve gone through this situation with all of my day one apex legends cosmetics. It just is what it is, and I’m glad other players can get cool cosmetics too.
Love the video! I've got a lot of these cosmetics, but really love seeing the super exclusive stuff that I don't and won't have. Some of mine include ferryman, full silver blade, some sapphire blade (currently to week 129 of insiders), brave vanguard, black dog, obsidian everything except the capstan for over three years. I've also played since the alpha, and I'm sailing towards five years on the Sea of Thieves ☠️.
The one set I feel people often fail to mention with these rare time limited set discussions is the Courage set. You could get it in the summer of 2020 by doing in total 36 challenges. Personally only have the bucket and lantern, while I only know of one other person who has parts of the set.
Hey Ray great video! However I think you forgot about about the Silvered legendary Eyepatch that was only obtainable back in april cause it was a limited time celebration item that required you to be a pirate legend. Not sure how many people logged in to get it but I could see it having a spot on the list. God I do love seeing BB sails mentioned here. They removed the world event as I was like halfway through getting them but by God I wasn't letting that stop me so I had to grind oos and then grind ghost fleets to get BB to spawn a couple more times. They are my favorite sails and the only ones I use for my main galleon.
The reaper merc ships sets are my fave and I have all the sail variations. The golden skull sails are probably my fave though. And the obsidian ship set. Still need my capstan though.
Ghost Captain Sail - You can run the level 25 OoS big Voyage and just do the Ghost Fleet. It is nerfed and only has 2 waves, the final boss only has 2 ships next to it and not 4. It is very easy. Once you get the skull just cancel and drop another OoS level 25 captain Voyage. It spawns at the next island most of the time so you can bounce back and forth.
How egoistic to say that the legendary curse is 'unfortunately' coming back, its part of the pirate legend set, Rare just made a mistake by putting it in the season pass. It should have been pirate legend related reward. I suppose season 1 players do feel a bit screwed by this, but its Rare's fault in the end.
I’d perhaps like to see the return of some of the bilge rat cosmetics… it’s a shame the Bilge Rats are a fairly bodiless company. It could be interesting to introduce them as a larger faction with new revitalised bilge rat adventures

Back when cursed sails first dropped I played on on of the very very view glitched servers. Mike Chapman actually mention this server back when they did weekly update videos. I played with three total crews for about 6 hours getting every achievement. We were able to do this because the skeletons weren’t spawning on the ships. Actually no npcs were spawning at all ei. Pigs chickens.
I’m a proud owner of the Brave Vanguard sails. I remember playing this game with a single island and only a few squares of water to travel on. I waited 2 years for this game to release early access. Unfortunately when the game fully released it was stale on content so I haven’t played since release.
At 12:27 the figure head is not a part of that ship set, its, its own figure head back in 2019 or 2020 I can't remember but it was a fishing event which made you catch 180 ruby splash tails, it's rare because no one wanted to do it and player count was a bit low
i wish they would do updates that are basicly events that give exclusive stuff like theese ones, it encourages people to play during that time and seems like such a fun idea
I did (and will do again) have the ancient vault and tribute sails. My favorite being the vault sails! The seeker title is great as well. Not one you see on a lot of pirates

I think the „Legendary Figurehead of courage is clearly missing in the list and is probably on the same level as the shrouded ghost figurehead in terms of rareness. It was the summer of sea of thieves event that just run for 5 weeks or something like that. Nice Video! 👍🏴☠️

Also no obsidian capstan or 6 pack which is unfortunate but I don’t tend to enjoy watching streams.

I do own some of these rare items back when I bought the game like 3 years ago and I never touched the game again since then, now I am back and am glad knowing I own some of this stuff if its not obtainable anymore, though they are not my style and i never wear them
I'm still most proud of my ruby sovereign eyepatch from the cursed gems event e.e'...my whole theme in SoT has been around a gem-in-eye pun, so I made it a point to snag every color as they've come out. That red was time-limited made me absolutely scramble to turn in 100 mer gems before the end, but I so rarely come across anyone sporting that color now. I know the blue and green you can still get by completing commendations related to those color mer/siren gems, but I haven't seen anything about red being obtainable since the event again :o
I'm only now learning that there was a full set for the reaper set. I only ever had the inevitable reaper sails and to this day,is still my favorite sails to use in the game.
Low key as someone that was there from the beginning but couldn't play cause life got in the way, it sucks things were time limited. I get locking them behind long to do commendations but sucks that things can just be completely unobtainable
I got the obsidian set from a chips ahoy pack in like 2018. I bought several and sold them on ebay but nothing compare to what they would be worth now.
I pre-ordered back in 2018 and got a code for the Black Sea Dog set (now worth a lot) - got bored of the game as there was no content and gave away the code to a buddy, who redeemed it and never played. - Gutted
I joined right before cursed sails, wanted the figurehead but didn’t get it, so the only year one cosmetics I have are the cursed sails area sails and the forsaken ashes hull and figurehead. Then decided to hoard doubloons since they were a finite currency

Play this game on and off. Upsetting to see how many things I've missed out on, but not as upsetting as losing some of these items. Doubt I'm the only person that has lost cosmetics. Rare doesn't do anything to help get them back even if you provide proof.
Theres a pre-order cosmetic set also. I have that. The day one eye patch, and the hungering one figure head. I really wish I had the time to play consistently.
My favorite thing about these yearly videos is those rare cosmetics (like my beloved Overachiever sails) just keep getting rarer. I’ll be interested to see what this next year brings us!

The reason they get rarer is because less people are playing over time. Those that earned them not playing anymore. I don't think the game is dying, but just pointing out the logic there.

Literally ALL SOT cosmetics can be found for extortionate prices. Black Dog, Ferryman, Obsidian Capstan, etc. It's terribly priced and nobody is buying them at all lol
I’ve been playing this game since day 1 but it’s always in short spurts of about a week every 6 months or year so even though I’ve been around I never put in the consistent effort to get most of these.
I only have the day one gold cannons because my trigger happy friends insisted I buy to play with them. They stopped playing with me so I did as well, I only got back into the game mid season 6. So people assume I’m a veteran when they see me using the cannons, but, well, au contraire. 😅
I hate that i had the abilty to get so many of these items, but i didn't buy them cuz they cost a fortune and i didn't know they would become rare, now looking back it hurts my soul and i am so angry at myself for not bying the stuff or doing the events just one more time to unlock the stuff. I have the Overachiever Sails, and it was the barnacled gold achievement I believe that netted those for me. Also, a lot of other items you mentioned... Day 1 patch/eye of reach owner, and ofc OG PL 👍😎
I do own some of these rare items back when I bought the game like 3 years ago and I never touched the game again since then, now I am back and am glad knowing I own some of this stuff if its not obtainable anymore, though they are not my style and i never wear them
I rock the Inevitable Reaper sails + flag and I have NEVER seen anyone else with them
I'm still most proud of my ruby sovereign eyepatch from the cursed gems event e.e'...my whole theme in SoT has been around a gem-in-eye pun, so I made it a point to snag every color as they've come out. That red was time-limited made me absolutely scramble to turn in 100 mer gems before the end, but I so rarely come across anyone sporting that color now. I know the blue and green you can still get by completing commendations related to those color mer/siren gems, but I haven't seen anything about red being obtainable since the event again :o

I'm only now learning that there was a full set for the reaper set.
I only ever had the inevitable reaper sails and to this day,is still my favorite sails to use in the game.

Low key as someone that was there from the beginning but couldn't play cause life got in the way, it sucks things were time limited. I get locking them behind long to do commendations but sucks that things can just be completely unobtainable

What I wish was available is something like a Black/Dark based ferryman ish raggedy ass sail set...the more torn and tattered the better.
there is the eternal freedom collector sails from the pirate emporium. they are black tattered and torn sails :) cost real money though

I got the obsidian set from a chips ahoy pack in like 2018. I bought several and sold them on ebay but nothing compare to what they would be worth now.
I pre-ordered back in 2018 and got a code for the Black Sea Dog set (now worth a lot) - got bored of the game as there was no content and gave away the code to a buddy, who redeemed it and never played. - Gutted

I joined right before cursed sails, wanted the figurehead but didn’t get it, so the only year one cosmetics I have are the cursed sails area sails and the forsaken ashes hull and figurehead. Then decided to hoard doubloons since they were a finite currency
i had no idea some of my cosmetics were this rare, like the thousand something and day 1 eye patches or the x marks the spot eye of reach and that one skull sword

Feels good having all the merchant stuff and accomodations. I usually take the opportunity to show off my shiny golden merchant sails.
I'm always a little jaded when I see the launch crew sniper, cause I played day one and I have the eyepatch to prove it, but I never got the Eye of Reach

Play this game on and off. Upsetting to see how many things I've missed out on, but not as upsetting as losing some of these items. Doubt I'm the only person that has lost cosmetics. Rare doesn't do anything to help get them back even if you provide proof.
I have the banjo but idk how I got it. It may have been a reward for xbox live gold
Theres a pre-order cosmetic set also. I have that. The day one eye patch, and the hungering one figure head. I really wish I had the time to play consistently.
My favorite thing about these yearly videos is those rare cosmetics (like my beloved Overachiever sails) just keep getting rarer. I’ll be interested to see what this next year brings us!
And then the game dies because no one can earn rare stuff anymore because "alpha/Y1 players" wanna cry about bringing back cool stuff, and then your left alone with your super rare sails wondering what happened.

@@Ninja_Naranja It has a lot less limited time stuff nowadays. But I would like to say, saying you love that stuff is getting rarer is also basically loving people not playing the game anymore. The reason they get rarer is because less people are playing over time. Those that earned them not playing anymore. I don't think the game is dying, but just pointing out the logic there.
@@flashpone7910 the reason they’re getting rarer is because more people are joining the game for the first time. So you become less and less likely to run into vets if the majority of the population is newer players.
Literally ALL SOT cosmetics can be found for extortionate prices. Black Dog, Ferryman, Obsidian Capstan, etc. It's terribly priced and nobody is buying them at all lol
I’ve been playing this game since day 1 but it’s always in short spurts of about a week every 6 months or year so even though I’ve been around I never put in the consistent effort to get most of these.
I only have the day one gold cannons because my trigger happy friends insisted I buy to play with them. They stopped playing with me so I did as well, I only got back into the game mid season 6. So people assume I’m a veteran when they see me using the cannons, but, well, au contraire. 😅
I hate that i had the abilty to get so many of these items, but i didn't buy them cuz they cost a fortune and i didn't know they would become rare, now looking back it hurts my soul and i am so angry at myself for not bying the stuff or doing the events just one more time to unlock the stuff. I know that i was working my way to getting the bonecrusher stuff, but i didn't get it in time :(

my full hungering one set slaps so incredibly hard. So do my day one patch and launch crew eye of reach, but tbh I don’t consider those as rare. I sometimes run a forsaken ashes ship w hungering one figurehead, simply to show off my plight of bearing through year one and still playing.

I killed the shrouded ghost a few months ago now and I’ve still only gotten the bloody title and the ship decoration
I have burning blade sails.sails for selling 50 tributes can't remember name,guilded phoenix banjo,obsidian drum separately half forsaken ashes ship,legend curse before re-release spartan set and captain sails the one I would like most is bone crusher set or golden sailor cannons
I have the obsidian drum set and the cutlass with the skull
I do wish the walking barnacle sail returns in a future anniversary, as well as the mercenary cannon/capstain/helm.
