Two things. 1) Great to see Norm on your channel! Proved he can still be funny without doing totally off the wall things. Totally enjoyed his participation and attitude of fairness. 2) Totally proves that you really do need to spend a bit more to get decent quality equipment in order to truly enjoy the sport of fishing. Being frustrated all day because of equipment malfunctions and breakage will ruin your day. (I'd have gone back to the house to at least get a working model of the same combo.) This was totally entertaining but not stupid. Loved it!!!
I don’t really see why norm went with the worst choice in rod and reel 🤣 Walmart has some cheap ish spinning reels and that second baitcaster he picked up would’ve fit in budget and gave him the chance in some alright baits aswell 😂 but he went cheap combo rather then quality combo
I grew up fishing, probably lost interest around 14/15. Just got back into fishing at 25. 100 is plenty for me. I bought a 10 dollar ozark trail spinning reel combo, a ten dollar walmart bass kit, and a few packs of yamamoto/googan senkos about 30-40 dollars(not including the fishing license). lasted all spring and summer and caught dozens of decent sized fish, before upgrading to a abu garcia combo. I sometimes still use the ozark trail combo its going strong as i bought it(put better line on there). Will probably get down voted to oblivion but i feel like fishing is one of the few hobbies you can cheap out on and still out perform people who spent alot more on gear. New fishermen are better off saving for a boat or kayak than spending 250 on a baitcaster thats 5 percent better than a 60 dollar baitcaster. My dad is a boomer and one of the better fishermen i know and he uses cheap poles too and fishes from a little tracker.

I swear by the Zebco 33 spincaster paired with a Shakespeare medium action rod - has never failed me, and I've caught some nice bass, a couple trophy sized steelheads, and my PB 4' channel cat. I'd honestly be surprised if the expensive reels are actually worth it.

Just went to Dicks in Covina, Eastlake Mall, they do not have a Fishing section. I was shocked. So, I visited Turners Sporting goods at Workman and Azuza, totally stoked. Turners is awesome, it's like a mini BassPro. Great video, love the script.

Unfortunately my dsg stopped selling fishing stuff about three years ago and so my family and I have barely been able to go to a fishing store because dsg was the only close one to our house other stores like bass pro are very far away 😩
