Daym, Horsepower were earlybirds to a scene that came out of these sounds. Today most goosestep producers are blissfully unaware they owe Benny, Lev and them alot for, if nothing else, having a career to begin with. These guys broke so much new ground, its really crazy how little recognition they get almost anywhere
@@warzonediscosquad7097 oh sure, the likes of Steve Gurley, Mike Millrain.and likely a bunch of other lads who in so many different ways, but definetely HP were among the very early pioneers.... Many talented people who for different reasons didnt fit entirely with the d&b scene... Its curious also to notice very early jungle outfit Rude and Deadly of which Dylan Beale i think is El B`s brother made music for Wolverine - Adamantium Rage on the SNES all the way bacck in `94 and because of his score there is now being viewed as the first Grime track(s) - Do check out!
I would say this tune is 'deceptively simple'. There is a lot going on but it's all been put together so well that it flows smoothly and rolls with a classic shuffle. If you really listen (or just crank it in a club) you'll see just how well composed it is.
i don't know if it influenced the stripped back melancholy sounds of those artist. what you are failing to hear is that this is a straight up garage-two-step break... that was popular around that time. there was a lot of debate as to whether dubstep was truly a new genre or just a style that was influenced by the change in studio prowess and technology.
@angeriod manz need to get to know on how to embrace a tune to how it was produced. beautiful tune, the kind of tune you play a few times a day and grows on you great voice sample.

one thing - the description "typical rigid and sterile blueprint" for 2-step is absurd and couldn't be more wrong. besides jungle it's hard to think of any music literally less rhythmically rigid, and 2-step is ALL about big diva vocals and hooks, i.e. the opposite of sterile. sorry but I just couldn't let nonsense like that stand uncorrected. tune itself is flawless, of course
"Rigid" LOL. 2-step/UK Garage is the most heavily-swung, shuffled, syncopated genre known to man. I dunno what that guy is talking about. If you want STERILE, just listen to most music made after 2005.
@@FACEandLMS if you wanna talk about sterile & rigid all you have to do is look at dub & dubstep. compared to 2step and garage, tracks like pangea router is very sterile.
actually for rigid and sterile look no further than certain strains of dubstep. all the people ripping off loefah's half-step in that latter half of the last decade, for example. (which tbc ain't at all a knock against horsepower or el-b or dmz or any other dubstep forerunners/pioneers)
This is the one u dream of finding when u start digging
