Depending on when your next sale is could you maybe have a coffee van on site, people might be more inclined to line up in the cold if they have something to keep them warm.
I've always told rummage sale runners to put the coffee stand out where the line goes in. They'd sell more in hot drinks to the line going in than they'll make in merch sales!
There is nothing more satisfying than catching a thief on camera, making a copy for the police, and the thief getting busted. Especially if it is a well known local thief.

Even considered using Wyze Cams? They are like $25 each, they have to be plugged in. If you put a Mini SD Card in it, it will record continuously and you can connect it to an app on your phone. They are pretty amazing for the price. They have adhesive and magnets to use to put them wherever you want. No monthly fee either. Might at least be a way to start before you decide you want to go the whole $3k.
Only thing i can think of why people didn’t show up the first days is because of the 10$ amount.. that’s a big price for any item period.. 5$ sale just sounds better and is more attractive.. think about your demographic - they’re probably cart stuffers , but 10$ per item is only 10 items, thats going to be a tough pitch to anybody- people probably just realize if we they wait it will be cheaper eventually anyway.. i would start at 5$ with a few 10$ items sprinkled in , you can even sprinkle in a lot of 10$ items- the main thing is always to get customers in- they’ll convince themselves the need to buy once they’re there.. Just my opinion... heck even estate sales i atleast wait until the second day.. anyways yeah thanks for pointing out how tough the business is and sharing that with all of us.. hope you do better on the next one , cheers!

Ha. Allstate. I was unfortunate enough to be rear-ended by one of their policyholders in January. It was a "minor" accident, but it totaled my car and it has been the biggest pain in my butt I've ever had to deal with it. I will spend the rest of my life avoiding them!

I am actually really surprised that you and Mrs. Rabbit went to a wedding and had direct contact with people at the gathering. Was that decision based on more lax guidance from your state and local government guidance?
I smiled pretty big when you said the satisfaction of putting someone in jail for theft. Last May I had my truck broken into. Caught it on camera. Dude grabbed MY cheater bar out of the bed of my truck and hit the passenger side windows a few times, then went around to the drivers side where one good swing bashed my window out. Got in and you can see him rummaging, and he found me spare key. You can see my headlights flashing on and off as he tried to start it. He must not be mechanically inclined cause he couldn’t get it to start. 🤣🤣🤣 anyways, he stole a bag of edibles out of my truck and ate them all. He made it across the parking lot and found a nice soft dirt mound to take a nap on. I’m not sure how he ate all 10 of those edibles and lived. Called the cops and they came and got him. He went to jail a few times for violating conditions of release but in the end, he got restitution and probation. 🤦♀️ I told the DA to throw the book at him. It’s such a violation and a horrible feeling to have someone steal from you. I would totally invest in those cameras. 😉

Unfortunately if you let it go over and over the people stealing tell other people that they got away with stealing then you start seeing more and more theft because more people come to just steal.
what if they were stealing just so that they could feed their families. If that were in NY the cops would arrest you for not giving them more free stuff.

Have a runner so people don't have to leave the line to get what they want.

Sometimes items have clearance tags from the original store, which we honor. That’s likely what made the number weird.

It was her brothers wedding and she was in it so we didn’t really have much of a choice in the matter

Yup. I never reached out to them because I feel weird asking them to share a post, but I really do think it gave us a good boost
