Nice to see the outcome of your editing. It really gives an insight on how these recordings are made. This is one of the most beautiful preludes and fugues in the well tempered keyboard, but definitely not easy! Wonderful.
Was great to have you there, Mohamed (did you see I missed the 'tractor' passage at the beginning? it should have been changed from camera as well...!)
At this tempo it sounds like a piece I haven't heard before, and I like it! I timed some other performances (on hpschd) which is interesting: Wim: 5:18 Leonhardt: 2:28 Koopman: 4:26 Leon Berben: 5:01 Schiff: 3:35 Suzuki: 3:54 Gilbert: 2:27
This is an absolutely beautiful performance! Does anyone know of a recording of this piece played on a split-keyed organ, so we could hear the difference between Eb minor vs. D# minor in this prelude/fugue pair? This would be so interesting!
beautiful, thank you
I don't know which of your versions I like better, they are both great (this one and your recent one early 2023)
Wonderful and beautifully played as always.. It truly is one of "those pieces that kind of pulls the tears out of your eyes"!
thanks for listening !
So beautiful, so much emotion in this piece.
The best version i ever heard, bravo!!
The fugue is sad and lethargic to begin with but through the movement the tears subside and a resolve and a momentum resumes.

Better too slow, than too fast.
Martin Möller
I disagree. Both options are detrimental to the music.
Being to slow is not nearly as common as playing to fast though.

Contemplative.
You really play Bach in the way i feel it as a lute player, how much Hertz is your note A?
