    Eric, you have a calming aura about you in all your video presentations and in your interview style -- as smooth as silk. I can see here that Andy Evansen was relaxed and comfortable in conversation with you. Thank you for bringing art and artists to us, building a wonderful community of like-minded people.

    Love this conversation! What a combination! Rear Window!! One of my favorite movies! Interesting that you would pull that one into this generation!! Im 72, but my daughters are 31 & 28. They love that movie too! Love listening to you two and watching you paint! & you both teach well! Thank you for all you do. You are having a great impact! (& Eric, I heard you be down because sometimes you do a bad painting. Hey! None of that! If you were perfect, we couldnt relate to you at all. & a big part is teaching. We dont want to be intimidated!!)

    My Favorite Visual Movie has to be Barry Lyndon from Stanley Kubrick, the frames look like 15th century oil paintings and that's what he strived for when shooting it. The story is great too. Ironically looking at some of Andy's work the landscapes especially, they could've been straight from it. The Movie is a compositional Masterpiece. Worth the time if someone hasn't seen it and is into fine art. Thx for the interview to the both of you. Cheers and happy splashing.

    I took one of Andy's workshops 3 years ago. He is a fantastic down to earth teacher. I highly recommend learning from this master watercolor artist.

    Eric, thank you so much for sharing your interview video with us. It is so great seeing two top artists sitting casually and, "talking art" through questions and answers. Yes, drawing is so important, I'm so happy that you and Andy pointed that out. How can you paint well without knowing how to draw? Students should learn to draw first. Thanks again for this experience.

    What a honor to have an interview with Andy! I like the questions you asked him and even though a lot I've heard, it's so good to keep hearing the same thing. Thank you for sharing 😁Ha, I always play music while I paint too! Helps me loosen up. The end question were fun.

    Eric I can see why Andy is a favorite of yours. His work is amazing, but I think you are right up there with him. It’s very similar. Thanks for this, you did a great job on it..

      That's a very high compliment, thank you so much Barbra 😊 I learn from the best. Joseph Zbukvic was my first workshop, and Andy being my second. I learned so much from them both in person!

    Keep a piece of scrap paper (not cheap, use what u do ur paintings on) next to ur mixing area & test the color &/or water consistency (viscosity) on that before ur painting. Keep mixing (color or adding water) till its right on the scrap. I hope this helps. Happy painting! 🎨

    Really nice interview. What did you mean by "framing" and composing a scene? I didn't notice that phrase/technique in Andy's TH-cam videos or in the DVD I purchased some time ago. Do you mean viewfinder kind-of composing with a VF or perhaps with your hands? I would really like to know. Thank you.

    老師請問您有什麼訣竅可以讓觀察到的景物轉化成一幅耐看的作品嗎?我平時臨摹大師的畫作感覺還可以,但自己看風景圖/寫生畫出來卻很沒有美感…請問您是怎麼調整、轉化看到的風景,令色彩可能更和諧,更有氣氛嗎…

    • @Cafewatercolor
      @Cafewatercolor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      多少還是要靠經驗。你可以從和大師類似的主題著手,看他們是怎麼處理的,然後嘗試用一樣的手法處理自己看到的主題

    Hi Andy, let us know if your doin any workshops in England around the Cotswolds, I’d be really interested. I’ve painted and live only a few miles from those paints you put up. If you need any help sorting any venues or local art groups I can help . Matt

      He has a workshop in Dedham Hall, England this summer. =)

    Eric you should be careful who you title "master artist"...It's flattering for sure but Andy himself would acknowledge he's not as proficient as Chien Chung Wei. Or Alvarro. Or Joseph. Chung Wei can fill an auditorium with hundreds of people. He's at the top of his game. Andy is a fantastic painter but has room to improve.
    I frankly don't even like the term. It says nothing. It holds no value. Every W/C painter with a channel on TH-cam has been called "master" in the comments. Can we just dispense with all the flattery?

    • @Cafewatercolor
      @Cafewatercolor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dan Thomas everyone has different master in mind. 🙂 To me Andy is a master for his own right. Even Joseph has complimented on his work time and time again. I personally like Andy’s way more than Alvaro. That’s why I went to his workshop and not Alvaro’s when he came to Seattle. I don’t really think how many fans and people gather in the auditorium is the way to deterrent whether an artist is a master or not, Andy might be a younger and less “established” artist, but to me, he’s a master and that’s why I want to learn from him. That’s where I come from 🙂

      @@Cafewatercolor I'm sorry Eric but by your definition then anyone can have the title. Its not subjective. Its a standard usually made by the many not the one. Take care. Unsubbed.
