    This channel is great for people like my family who have never grown dragon fruit before! We got a hold of 4 cuttings now. One question: Wouldn’t you release some of the roots so they stick outwards from the root ball? I’ve heard when roots do that they could get stuck in that pattern

    I bought a dragonfruit plant from the store, and it looks to be a bunch of young baby plants compacted very tightly into into one small pot. Do you think it’s possible or beneficial to break them apart and replant them all separately? Or should I leave them together, re-pot them together, and maybe use cuttings down the road? I have no experience growing dragon fruit, so any tips would be beneficial. They’re quite cramped and need to be repotted soon. Thanks in advance.

      Once they grow a couple inches of roots. You can pot them in soil and take them out to the sun. Those roots that are developed will grow very quickly once they are in soil.

      Hi MW Y, Thanks for watching my videos! You can buy them at any local hydroponic garden stores. If they don't cary it ask them to order it for you to purchase. Most of the time those pots need to be special ordered by them because its so big and normally people don't really buy them. Give that a try and good luck!

    A lady gave me a vetmanese red. (At least she things that is the name). I had bought large pot to put it in. When she gave it, there wasn't a lot of soil in the pot. Can see the roots and there is a piece growing from the side. I'm hoping to repot in the big pot and cut the other off to plant that in after it heals over. I'm hoping I'll be doing correct. I want to do the trellis and I wasn't sure how tall you make the trellis.

    Hey man, love your videos so far. Just started binge watching them as I recently got a cutting of a red flesh variety. I was going to ask how you deal with the spines, particularly when harvesting fruit? Another question, have you ever had experience growing these indoors? I've got the room, but curious if you've got some pointers. I live in the north so climate is not friendly (current temp right now is 11F and last night it had dipped down to -14F.
    Thanks and once again, great job! I'm learning a ton

    How do you repot the big pot behind you? Do you just add more soil every year? And what when the pot fill up with roots on the big pot?

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nathan, I would use a torque scissor to cut the big pot and use a razor blade to slice it open. Then I would carry the whole trellis and have someone help me push the pot over and dump the plant in. I'll make a video about this when I get the chance to transplant one to a bigger pot. Over time you soil will get compact down so there will be room to add 1-2 inches very year. :)

      Hi Sonnie P. those pots in the back are 20 gallon pots. I buy them from my local hydroponic garden store. They didn't carry them at first but I asked about it and they ordered some for me to buy and now have it in stock. Try asking your local hydro store and if they don't have it, request that they order it in for you.

    I have been watching your older videos and have a question about why you grow Dragon fruit from seed. From what I have read Dragon Fruit does not grow true from seed, that to say you won"t get the same fruit from a seedling as the original variety. So why grow Dragon Fruit from seed? is it that you use seedlings as root stock to graft know varieties, or are you experimenting to try and create a new variety. Other than those two reasons, I don't see any other reason to grow Dragon fruit from seeds. I'm just curious as to the reason you grow Dragon Fruit from seed.

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi chava Chiva, I'm grafting DF seeds because the Ecuador Palora is a self-fertile variety. Meaning when the seeds are pollinated its from the same parents. Which will make them grow true to the parents of the fruit. In the Philippines they grow this variety from seed and it has been produce true to the variety. It has already been proven over in their country. In US no one has done it yet so that is why you see that I'm grafting these seeds to show everyone that it is possible and that it is true. You will only get seeds that are not true to parent if they are cross-pollinated.
