Porter Wagoner, Wilburn Brothers, Hee Haw, Flatt and Scruggs, and even later, The Johnny Cash Show formed my tastes in country and bluegrass music.... All these stars and guests and musicians will always live on through their music, talent and humor... plus, the added bonus of all the film and video that was recorded and saved. Yeah, it was a great time...

Most of the songs Porter wrote like Childhood Playground have disappeared. There must be a way to get them all together and make them accessible. So sad if they are lost.

The reason this music is so popular even still is because after the second world war, music began to change.as advancements in sound (mics, pick-ups and effects pedals, and of course, recording technology) people began trying new and different types of stuff. Some great and some not so much. But it all had one thing in common; it all derived from old time mountain music brought over from the old world. Slightly adapted to fit the present way of living, loving, births, and deaths, and religion, not to say the least. Thanks for the memories....d.

The song Merle sings, "The Roots of My Raising", was released in January 1976 and the amazing "What Have You Got Planned Tonight Diana" also comes from the 1976 album, also called 'The Roots of My Raising', so this is episode more than likely from 1976. I seen a question mark in the video title so I decided to deduce that it's from 1976.

Merle would have been 39 in this video, gorgeous man and best country singer ever but his life took a tole and aged him quickly

This show is from 1977, or at least that's when it was telecast.
It even shows it at the end of the show in the credits.

Back when Country was Country and not Hip Hop with an accent and families could watch tv together.

Preferred it when Buck was the lead player and the bass had a softer sound, mind you it got worse when he got that awful perm!
