Recommend reacting to 'Desperate Cry' from the Sepultura Live in Barcelona 1991 concert. Igor Cavalera was an absolute beast. one the best sounding live shows ever.
On the Iowa tour they had a signing session before the show and Joey was the only to reach out for a handshake. That was pretty cool of him, small things like that can have leave a lasting impression on fans. RIP

Pete Sandoval is why we have many special drummers in real metal today and Joey idolised him also. Pete was the pioneer of the blast beat and everyone modelled their footwork on his amazing speed/precision. A game changer.
This is my favourite Slipknot track! I don't think it's fair to compare Joey and Jay; Jay is a great replacement and really skilled drummer, but Joey was an amazing musician all round, one of those rare geniuses, so creative and unique 🖤🖤

You know, at first I was very curious as to why they would fire Jay after all the time they invested in him. Then I watched a whole live performance with him that was like last year. They started playing more of their much older stuff, I’m sure to prepare for their anniversary tour coming up, and…man…Jay just couldn’t keep up. It was sloppy, the timing was off, and you could tell there are certain things he simply couldn’t do so he changed parts. Joey’s drum tracks were absolute COMPOSITIONS! Not just someone who was beating against drums to fill the song with sound. Do the work, study the part, or move on.
Going down the rabbit hole of reaction videos to Slipknot. Now I know this is older now that Eloy Casagrande is their new drummer, but each of them bring a different element to the Slipknot sound. Joey of course laid the foundation. Jay added speed and a slick jazzy rhythm to his style, while Eloy brings power to the band. All 3 are amazing and other than saying Joey is the goat, they're all great in their own way, adding their unique style to the Slipknot sound. #ripjoey
as much as i love Jay and have huge respect for him to jump in as Joeys replacement my answer to your question is this. When you hear Joey you know it's him playing straight away. It's like with Korn. Many People tried to play something similar or copy and always failed. He was one of a kind.

There’s something about the original slipknot that cannot be replicated. After Paul Grays death and Joey being fired, they don’t sound the same. Don’t get me wrong there are songs I do like from the albums after Paul and Joey but something is missing. Iam old school slipknot 100% .
