    Watching you wrench on that bolt while the bushing was still flaming was Grade A entertainment. Keep up the good work.

    I like how you wrenching is realistic. Letting the viewer know that yes, you do forget things or don't know exactly how to do things when its a new car to you, instead of just showing everything going in and out the first time. Really enjoying your series. Loved the Sti build as well. Ill be checking out older ones soon!

    Holesaw works wonders on some bushings, you cut the rubber part out. Then you cut the outer steel sleeve with the sawzall, and then punsh it out.

    2 quick tips - amazon sells 6 packs of por15 in small cans. much less likely to ruin one big can with resealing, you just use one little can for basically your whole job here. then have 5 extra, factory sealed cans too.
    and clean those brembos and just hit them with some rattlecan clearcoat. they'll look great.

    Can confirm. This system of rust protection works perfect for light and even medium rust invasion. I have done this procedure with a similar product and then removed it years later, the rust is non existent. The coating that forms is hard and durable, its converts the rust underneath the coating into a black solid material that will no longer spread without moisture and oxygen. It is a much faster procedure that produces exceptional results. Kudos Dave and PT for the mad videos!

    I did a [low-tech measurement] of NVH on my B7 before and after installing stiffer durometer motor mounts and I was surprised to see that not only did NVH not increase but in some terms it actually decreased. This is certainly not the case for all brands and materials of mounts and bushings, though. Nonetheless - I believe the hype!

    As a certified internet rust expert, what you guys did was totally fine. In my experience you'll never get totally rid of rust on these older cars, if it doesn't come from the bottom it'll find its way in through the interior, using it until it rots into the ground is the best thing you guys could really do.

    Guys you can still buy all the arms new from mitsubhishi. The lower ones that you had cracked are £210. A company here in the UK called Ross sport can supply them world wide. Worth keeping that in mind if you ever need a set of arms. Litrally anything from this car can be purchased brand new from Ross Sport.

    Finally, some Evo content! Great video, guys.
    P.S. I know you're both weary of receiving unsolicited advice from Internet "experts" in the comment section, but please allow me this one time only. When servicing the Brembos, go with OEM seals and dust boots. Aftermarket ones such as from Centric (the parent company of StopTech) will either not fit quite right, or fail (leak) prematurely. This is coming from my experience with my JDM Forester STi. Learn from my mistakes. Cheers from Kenya. 🇰🇪 👍

    NZ Evo 4 owner from future here but those rear upper arms are still for sale OEM as a whole unit with ball joint and bushing included. They're compatible evo 4-9. Left part # 4110A079 Right part # 4110A048

  • @jamest5149
    @jamest5149 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you find upgraded lower arms to replace the split ones - you mentioned the ball joints weren’t good so it would be a good opportunity and gain you some more adjustability.
    With the calipers, get the piston kits, they have the dust boots but also replace the seals which are likely toast.

    How about drilling 2 holes, one to use for dispensing then when you go to "re-seal" the container use some CO/2 and dispense into the second hole, this will get rid of the Oxygen since CO/2 is heavier than air, this "SHOULD" prevent the POR from interacting with air and going bad. then do the trick with the screws to seal the can back up.

I also done all the arms with it too. They are all speckled and all. I was amazed at how poor of a job it did! I guess you just cant use the car during an english winter.
