Fantastic driving by a legend. This was the time when most car companies would "race on sunday, sell on monday". The Evo is a prime example of this. I wish we could still see these kinds of cars in the showroom.
@@michaelhorgan9525 yaris gr is great and i love toyota for having the passion to make it, but its not really anything to do with the rally car. they dont even share the wheelbase. nowhere near the same "race on sunday, sell on monday" as group a era stuff.

when rallying was still rallying, wrc spec was the apocalypse of the world rally championship. no road version means no interest in the competition version.
And vice-versa. When Group A was still the top, we had a selection of great 4WD sports cars on the market. Now you can't even buy the last samurai, the Impreza STI

Mikko F1 never had homologation, so it’s not an expectation to see cars available for the public. Rally and touring cars on the other hand had that as a feature of the sport when they were homologated.
That was absolutely AMAZING!!!! I love the Evo's and Tommi drove it as the engineers intended! What a fantastic ride he and the Evos had. Thank You for posting, this is my favorite rally video!!!
How the car and Tommi regainst controll everytime he slides into a cruve its so beautiful, he sets the car up so perfect to hit the apex. That is just so good driving. Sadly i was born in 1998 so i had no idea what a rallying was at that time.
He had excellent skill and the car was especially built around him and his driving style. Sadly that contributed to Mitsubishi's downfall once Makinen left as the 01 lancer wrc which replaced the Evo 6 was not up to par and they had drivers that could not adapt to it.
@@StreetComp Subaru might be back in 2022 with a hybrid machine. New regulations are better suited for them as they can shrink a larger car to the current wrc machine size. Also they can use a tube frame instead of a production shell but teams can use either chassis for their creations.

Evo has always been my favourite car, since I was about 4 playing racing games on my gameboy. It's a shame we don't see them being built anymore...
Toyota had the Yaris gr but not for North america.

What a great era for Finland in Motorsport. Hakkinen and Makinen both world champions

tommi makkinen THE TURBO. he is the best all of time...
Amazing how flawlessly these pro rally drivers can drive at such high speeds.

Just bad ass in every sense of the word. Perfection!

If you listen at 1:05 you can hear the co-driver commencing the drive-by shooting
Tommi Makinen set record in Kenya those old years
Mitsubishi golden time
I fell in love in rally as a kid in that era.
Joginder Singh and Tommi Makinnen solidly placed Mitsubishi on top of the cream of rallying.
Tommi! Master. Mitibutshi evo 6 amazing. Thanks.
Recuerdo cuando Tommy vino a Chile como invitado del Rally mobil , fue un agrado y emoción verlo en persona , sin duda una verdadera leyenda
Top car of ever Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Tommy Makinen edition
He did win champion 4 times 🤘😎🇫🇮
That's so utterly brilliant.
What a beast of a driver! Amazing skills!
I have the tommi Makinnen rally Rc car. It is absolutely beautiful.

So sad that the Mitsubishi discontinued the Evo.
What's even worse is that they are probably bringing EVOs name back as an electric SUV
Hea Mees they better not
I'm not. All Evos starting from the 7 looked like shit especially the Evo X
ethics the evo x is the ugliest but i think 7-9 werent that horrible
Only liked the Evos until the 7th gen. 3rd Gen was my overall favorite.
that was like watching an artist at work, so sick
Absolute master
Back when mitsubishi made iconic cars...

not enough budget, that's why they focusing on suv's
Better die a legend than live as crossover suv
