Hi, great playing. i want to buy one. Do you think it’s better to get the 25 or the 23 size?
Impossible to say as this totally depends on where you come from and what you’re after.
Me, also having played the electric bass guitar for years and being fairly tall, i was going for the shorter 23 inch for several reasons.
- portability, weight, handling
- i can express myself sufficiently within this range
- wanted to be as close as possible to a common 21 inch bass-ukulele

Yo, good observation! You are not the first to mention this but cool you are bringing it up here!
It is a conscious decision for this particular (walking-)style! Whenever the tempo and the rhythmical structure of a song allow, utilizing just one and the same finger is a good technique to guarantee that every note gets attacked in the very same way! This not only creates the same sound for every single note but furthermore contributes to an even and steady flow of the(bass-)line. As soon as there is string-skipping, interval jumps or rhythmical phrases that require alternate picking - boom, you have to switch! If you go back and watch the section starting @ 1:24 you will see exactly that - I change to using both index and middle finger.
BTW: the 'rubber' strings (which are polyurethane of course) on a bass-ukulele play a bit of a role too. I like to tackle them in a way upright-bassists go about!
And a FUN FACT: read about the 🇺🇸studio-bassist James 'The Hook' Jamerson (1936 - 1983) ...
