ഓഫീസർ എന്ന നിലയിൽ മാത്രമല്ല, വ്യക്തി എന്ന നിലയിലും ഇടപെട്ട കേസാണ് വിസ്മയയുടെത് എന്ന് അന്വേഷണത്തിന് മേൽനോട്ടം വഹിച്ച ഐജി ഹർഷിക അത്തല്ലൂരി. വിസ്മയക്കുണ്ടായ ദുരന്തം ഏറെ വേദനിപ്പിച്ചു. വിസ്മയയെ പോലെ നിരവധി പേരുണ്ട്. സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ ചിന്താഗതിയില്‍ മാറ്റമുണ്ടായല്‍ മാത്രമെ വിസ്മയയുടേത് പോലുള്ള കേസുകള്‍ ആവര്‍ത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കൂ എന്ന് ഐജി ഹര്‍ഷിത അട്ടല്ലൂരി. പെണ്‍കുട്ടികളില്‍ മാത്രം ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്ന രീതിയാണ് സമൂഹത്തില്‍ നിലനില്‍ക്കുന്നത്. പെണ്‍കുട്ടി എപ്പോള്‍ വീട്ടില്‍ വരുന്നു, എന്ത് ചെയ്യുന്നു, എന്ത് ധരിക്കുന്നു എന്നെല്ലാം മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ഈ കരുതല്‍ ആണ്‍കുട്ടികളുടെ കാര്യത്തില്‍ കാണിക്കുന്നില്ല. ഈ രീതിയില്‍ മാറ്റം വരണമെന്നും ഐജി പറഞ്ഞു. ദുര്‍ബലരായ വിഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ എല്ലാവരെയും ബഹുമാനിക്കാന്‍ ചെറുപ്പം മുതലേ കുട്ടികളെ പഠിപ്പിക്കണം. ഇത്തരം മാറ്റങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടാവാന്‍ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ ആദ്യം മാറണമെന്നും ഹര്‍ഷിത പറഞ്ഞു.
