Today we search the area between my camp and the main one we want to explore. We also visit the main mine for the first time. Please keep in mind that I am posting these videos in the order of what I actually did on my trip (and search) so that they make sense to someone who wants to know what the experience was actually like for me and so that the videos make sense if someone finds this video series in the future and watches them. I'm not "holding out"...lol.
Get some nikon prostaff binos 10x you won't be disappointed. I use them to hunt. They have great clarity in low light conditions. And get the vortex bino harness.
Hey Beau, have you ever seen the You Tube channel, Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't? Joey Santore has an Australian Cattle Dog (or two?) who travel with him. You need a companion to go with you on these adventures. Tough, faithful, dog, BFF.
I bought Cabelas brand binoculars, they were their higher end modle but they are super clear. I think they are 10x power but i have a chest rig to hold them when im out riding or hiking in the desert. Seriously go to a cabels and check them out, you'll be impressed when you try them. I think I paid 250 bucks around 7 or 8yrs ago so obviously they are gonna be more $ but they are every bit as good as swavorski's that cost a thousand bucks.
Radio guy here. Once you lose GPS in a confined place the drone is a goner - various drone will do different things when they lose GPS but some return to the takeoff position, but that's a problem when you are deep in a shaft. The reason you lose GPS in mine shafts is the GPS satellites are a constellation of moving sats that criss-cross the sky. For a good fix you need 3 or more of the sats in line of sight, though you can kinda be OK if any one of those gets obscured temporarily. Down a shaft however, you have such a limited view of the sky that you stand no chance to see a passing satellite for more than second or two once you are down the shaft. Some of the better drones use solid-state gyro chips to augument stability but they are not really much use in confined areas or over rough ground. The only safe way to film in vertical mine shafts is to lower a camera on a long line. In sloping/incline shafts ou need to have intact rails and make a custom trolley to ride down on them.
What’s up mr chiggs I’m 28 years old love your videos! Started exploring more because of your videos. Just wanted to say thanks for making us laugh! Much love from Reno nv!!
Awww Chig! You are doing a kindness to search for this young woman. Seems like you ought to get a break. I’m sorry about your drone. Glad you are staying safe.
The best time to look down mines is as night. You can see a lot more without the glare of the sun on the surface above. The best way to put a GoPro & light down a mine is with a fishing pole, the longer the better. You might be able to snag your drone with treble hooks if you can locate it with your camera. As somebody else noted, she'd likely to be just out in the desert somewhere. Why? Because people like us look in mines, not out in the weeds in the desert. When we found April Pitzer she'd just been dumped by a cistern by a road in the desert. The family from San Diego was buried behind a roadside berm

I bought one when American Airlines lost my Mini 2 and my luggage during a ski trip in Breckenridge last December. Keep up the good work!
Bummer about you drone, I like the fishing pole idea they got like 9 foot rods with some super strong line, camera, flashlight of some sort and maybe a treble hook to latch onto some fabric. You are a brave man doing that search on your own. Stay safe!
#aquachigger Hi Beau, you should get hold of "Heavy D Sparks" he went down a mine shaft very similar to this when he was looking for Susan Powell and also Dylan Rounds, he has all the equipment necessary and then some to go down shafts of this nature. xx
That shaft needs to be explored by some professionals and then permanently sealed. There should be some technical teams out there watching this that would donate thier time to search for a missing person. The county that these shafts are in should want them covered permanently. Beau I would would bring your truck to the site to use as a safety tie off just incase you slip. Tie a good harness around yourself and to the truck and then work with the magnet. Look for another person to be with you. Good luck.

Cell phone towers have exactly (3) 120 degree segments that can provide directional information. If a cell phone "connects" with a cell phone tower, it will connect with one of the (3) 120 degree segments, thus narrowing the search angularly. With "time of flight" data, which is also available, one can also get the distance from the cell phone tower. So, given the 120 degree segment and the distance from the cell phone tower, one can drastically narrow the search. Source: Court TV cell phone experts testifying in several trials, which I watched.
A couple of your firefighter fans need to lend you a quality extension ladder. You (with assistance) could partially extend the ladder and drop it over the opening to serve as a work platform. Not sure if you'll need to "Hold your breath" or not. : )
If you can figure out the maximum effective range of that cell tower, you can draw a circle on a Topographical map and (The cell tower being the center) you'll have a better Idea of where to look. Look at the circle and look for all the different access points to the circle, You should be able to eliminate a lot of the map just by finding places that are inaccessible. (Water. Mountains, etc) I worked for OnStar for 10 years and mostly tracked stolen vehicles and located missing or endangered people and worked a lot with law enforcement. The Sheriff's Department should know the range of the tower. Call the local Sheriffs Dept and ask for the sheriff or a detective and tell them you are looking for a missing person. That should give you a much better chance of finding her. IMHO I don't think he would have thrown her body down a mine shafts. I'd probably look for her body beyond the end of a dead end road. Somewhere he felt comfortable leaving his vehicle while he disposed of her body. If he buried her, she probably isn't buried deep. The digging in that area almost impossible unless you have a pick. BTW - I was a 12B and am a Gulf Vet (2 tours) PS - If I needed to use or buy a topographical maps I would check with the different ranger stations, possibly the Sheriff's Department, or the closest general hardware store that has mining supplies.
@@taxesdeathandtrouble.1886 - You may be right. I agree that the truck minus the trailer would have no problem getting down that road. Unfortunately I don't know much about how the trucking industry other than they have to do a lot of paperwork and are heavily regulated.
Easy on the bike speed, sir. It’s an awful long way to get help. All alone in the desert, be as careful as if you were carrying a sheet of glass. Also, the guy wouldn’t take a rough trip out in the desert to bury something. The ground’s too hard, and it takes a lot of gas. Look for ease of disposal, imho.
I had to comment on my comment. I'm not illiterate and I don't know why I sent that comment looking as such. I go out into the Mojave quite a bit too. Rockhounding and just getting away from everything. I was out in Blythe, or near Blythe a couple weeks ago and had an amazing time but didn't find one geode. I even had a book telling me where to go. I completely forgot about the intaglios until after I got home. I'm sorry for rambling on but I was driving back to Las Vegas at about 10 or 11pm by the Dead Mountains, right down the road from you, where the 95 cuts up from the 40 and I look over and see these lights going back and forth. I parked near the train tracks that intersect the 95 and these lights were east of that, in the mountains where no roads are. They seemed to light up go back and forth and fizzle out but maybe I was just hoping this was something more than it was. I don't think I was seeing Oatman or anything beyond the mountains but that's all that I could think it was because from where I was parked, I checked on Google maps where I was and I was on a dirt road right before the train tracks on the 95 a couple miles north of the 40. I'm pretty familiar with the area. I wasn't quite north up to the road the road that heads down to Laughlin so I don't think I should have been seeing what I was seeing. ANYWAY, take care and I look forward to your next vid. .
It is a weird pace for lights at night. But remember there are dirt roads everywhere out there. Plus the night maneuvers of the military planes can make for some weird phenomena. I saw a lot of dropped flares at times. Sorry about the geodes, I'm still looking for a good patch myself. Spent some time near Blythe myself on this trip.
Did that same thing with my drone (Mavic Pro) and recovered it.... Use your magnet and fish for it even if you can't see it. I'm sure it survived the fall. Sorry about that brother!
Mr Aquachigger sir, with regards to your binoculars, consider purchasing an aftermarket harness instead of using the single supplied strap. The harnesses keep the binoculars snugged against your body, and less likely to bounce around and anoy you. Their only drawback will be a slight inconvenience when removing layers of clothing.
I just keep thinking that if you would have dropped a spool of fishing line down or a half a spool down the side of the edge and then connected the other end to the Drone just in case you could have pulled it back up
Too bad about the drone. I have one (DJI mini 2). I would say there was no way I could have possibly flew down a narrow shaft like that. There is always some lateral drift and you loose contact as soon as line of sight is broken. This can happen outside in terrain as well.
You should carry a bunch of green snap sticks for situations like that. they light up for hours at a time.and also a spool of fishing string tied to the drone just in case that happens. i see that in other peoples videos for straight down holes like that.
Lay a pipe or board across the center, then maybe you can drop a magnet or camera straight down, even a hook of some kind, and hook the drone. But don't do anything without a stake in the ground and a safety line, good luck my friend
Segmented pole that screws together...snatch block at one end... Attachment on motor bike to secure pole end.. extend the pole end with the pulley/ snatch block over the hole. Use rope to lower magnet / camera / light box... Thanks for the video..
It's 100 feet deep and you can't see anything without a camera with a data cable 120 feet long. I'll have one next time out. If it's still there....lol.
@@aquachigger I was thinking a combination Magnet/ camera/ light system on the end of the rope...the pole would extend over the hole with the pulley. I was thinking light weight and collapsible because of the Bike. The Bike would be the counter balance. I can't figure out how to stop the spin of the camera though...
Wonder if a big ole surf fishing pole and heavy baitcaster reel would help? Be able to safely lower a camera down those shafts and poke back in snake areas like under the overpass
I’m thinking that a long enough pipe to lay across the hole, with the magnet rope rolled around the pipe, then unroll the magnet rope, lowering it down into the shaft, you could probably get the drone back. Also the same process could be used for a camera, just turn on the camera and lower it down… Trying to help! Good Luck!
That sucks losing your drone down that hole! I hope U can retrieve it. U should get with HeavyD Sparks channel and see what he thinks about looking down that mine shaft. Be safe!
What you need is like a 8-10 feet telescopic fishing rod so you can easily take it with you. Put on a reel with 30lb braided line so you can attach a Go Pro to it. Or a magnet to fish out your drone. Telescopic rod & reel combo's can be had for like $40-$50 on amazon.
Chigg check out the thrift shops, flea markets and church sales. Me and my husband have several pairs of good binocular's that we bought cheaply at these types of shops and sales.
The clearest binoculars I’ve ever looked through Chigg is BSA back when me and my cousin shot archery tournaments he got a set of BSA Binoculars and it was no problem to see the 10 ring on the target at whatever range.

And there I was thinking you'd tied back the mirrors to stop the sun reflecting at the camera! :)
You were talking about lee van cleef a couple of days ago.I always thought he looked like Yoda.
In watching, I keep feeling that poor Cara is there in the region.
Poor drone!! Gonna be all alone in a scary place.
You'll see it again. It will look lonely. I think it has a dead coyote to keep it company though.
Loving the once a day vids!
Lay a pipe or board across the center, then maybe you can drop a magnet or camera straight down, even a hook of some kind, and hook the drone. But don't do anything without a stake in the ground and a safety line, good luck my friend
Just an idea I seen people use an hook while they're magnet fishing if you can manage too get the drone out with the hook?
Segmented pole that screws together...snatch block at one end... Attachment on motor bike to secure pole end.. extend the pole end with the pulley/ snatch block over the hole. Use rope to lower magnet / camera / light box...
Thanks for the video..
It's 100 feet deep and you can't see anything without a camera with a data cable 120 feet long. I'll have one next time out. If it's still there....lol.

I was thinking a combination Magnet/ camera/ light system on the end of the rope...the pole would extend over the hole with the pulley.
I was thinking light weight and collapsible because of the Bike. The Bike would be the counter balance.
I can't figure out how to stop the spin of the camera though...
I do something like that in an upcoming video to see the bottom, but didn't have a cabled camera this trip for drone retrieval.
Hello, like you said you can replace a drone you can’t replace you. Hope ya can safely retrieve it 👍🖖🍺
Wonder if a big ole surf fishing pole and heavy baitcaster reel would help?
I no you back home now but welldon so far 😜👍
Wouldn't you smell a body that would be decomposed for that long?
Thanks!
Thank you!
Loosing your drone is terrible , can't wait until the next blog, hopefully you got it back
Dang… I had that feeling!! Hopefully you got it back @Chigg ..
No the drone dude that sucks . Hope u can snag it outta there . Good luck . Ur a good man for doing this search 👏
Found the hole in the road again at last ! 🍩🌵☀️🕵️♂️
Finally.....lol.
Outta shape? Round is a shape 😁 just kidding chigg. Love your videos!
Chigg check out the thrift shops, flea markets and church sales. Me and my husband have several pairs of good binocular's that we bought cheaply at these types of shops and sales.
Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name🎶🎵🎵🎶🎵🎶
Your case a iron horse😉👍
The clearest binoculars I’ve ever looked through Chigg is BSA back when me and my cousin shot archery tournaments he got a set of BSA Binoculars and it was no problem to see the 10 ring on the target at whatever range.
Really? I thought they were cheapo's?
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
'Evening.
Burn pits is a good place to look for remains. Many times you can find bones/metal remnants.
DJI DRONE LOST! oh no. You’re a good man.
Ouch! Sucks losing that drone
