    What you mean is layering. I do not know about hair systems but I'm assuming since it's hair it can be cut back. Look up for videos on: hair ends / tips layer cutting, hair razor layering, scissors layering, machine layering and you'll have an idea. I as a hairdresser and stylist and lots of my clients had wigs for cancer or bad hair day purpose and every now and than they'd ask me to cut or style it for them. I would do that using a mannequin head with fixed base or when they needed it to be cut in a specific style they had chosen from a magazine, image or such, I'd use a hair band or elastic and pin clips to firmly attach the wig to their head and cut/style. Sometimes I would also dye the wig to change the color (100% human hair wigs or systems can be dyed or bleached using regular hair products. But the hair has to be virgin or lightly processed. That is because the products and methods used by some overseas companies upon high worldwide human hair demand uses low quality industrial use chemicals to do so and sometimes hair is even supplied from picked combs, brushes and salon hair waste. When this method of cheaper low grade hair is acquired they use heavy chemicals to strip the hair of it's natural fibers making it look dull and shed easily). When this type of hairs are processed they strip the hair so the hair can be used in any direction wen making wigs (from root or tip). If you take one strand of your real hair and slide your finger through it downwards it will feel smooth and slick if you do this opposite direction you will feel the micro Keratine scales that constitutes a single hair strand...... God, how this comment turned out so long. Sorry!

    That happened to my mate. He was getting his full cap wig cut in by a local stylist and this stylist he buzz-cut the sides of the wig and of course it didn't look right.

    I go and get my cut from a hair replacement stylist and to be honest I use to wonder why my system looks a bit odd. this is what they have been doing. that's worrying.

    Why do some professionals recommend thin skin hair system (VR) vs. lace and vice versa. What is your recommendation for a seamless, all natural look?

    • @mgfordhairreplacementstylist
      @mgfordhairreplacementstylist  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the thin skin bases are ready available but shed hair fast, they last about 3 months at best but for me you cannot beat a graduated lace hairline providing the knots are bleached and the lace colour is matched to your scalp correctly..companies whom can't bleach the knots or get the lace colour correct tend to prefer skins..its easier for them..

    • @MrSavant2
      @MrSavant2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your reply. So lace systems provide a superior hair line than think skins?

    • @mgfordhairreplacementstylist
      @mgfordhairreplacementstylist  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes as long as the lace colour/bleached knots/graduated hairline are done properly then yes for me lace is best :)

    Where in India... dear??

  • @silverpeetersiiak3377
    @silverpeetersiiak3377 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    but how and where exactly should i let the hair system be cut in? in a professional salon? what should I be explaining to them? because the system has to be cut as well once you get it and when you want to change the style for example

    • @mgfordhairreplacementstylist
      @mgfordhairreplacementstylist  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the systems need to be razor cut in to make the perimeter blend seamless. If you can find a stylist that is comfortable to do this then that's good. I do offer a ready cut service but for your own side and back hair, its best to either clip up the edges of the system when having it cut by a barber or remove your system first to avoid the dreaded clipper cut which leaves horrible blunt line perimeter

    • @silverpeetersiiak3377
      @silverpeetersiiak3377 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      is it really that difficult to do that kind of cut-in? hairdressers don't usually use razors? i guess i have to educate mine then, because i want the best look

    • @mgfordhairreplacementstylist
      @mgfordhairreplacementstylist  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes that's true....

  • @Michelle6998832
    @Michelle6998832 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Other comment I had was: I think all your problems would easy if you just go to a female hairdresser, women are a lot more attentive and something so obvious as to clip the system edge ends up would be a no brainner. Men barbers, not stylists are more used to doing just that while female clients are more demanding specially when it comes to hair and nails. At least that's what makes sense to me.

    • @mgfordhairreplacementstylist
      @mgfordhairreplacementstylist  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hi Michelle I have to disagree as the person whom cut my clients hair was a female stylist ..but there are good and bad stylists out there male and female...sex is irrelevant really...the systems look so good and blended so well that a lot of clients pop into salons or barber shops and don't explain what they are wearing and just ask for their own sides and back hair only to be cut...the video is intended really to encourage wearers to explain to the stylist (male or female) exactly what they are wearing to avoid the hair being cut by the clippers..

    • @Michelle6998832
      @Michelle6998832 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're absolutely right! That came out so wrong. I didn't mean to be sexist, what I meant was; usually the female clientele are more demanding no matter if the hairdresser/stylist is male or female while barbers(usually males) are more experienced in beards, shaving, and men haircuts.

    • @NickeyONickes
      @NickeyONickes 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michelle Meireles With a guy who wears a system himself, he totally understands your needs in a way a female stylist just can't. It would be like men taking charge of a menstruation / pregnancy meeting, or something! They're not really the right ones to hold that! Of course, it depends on talent rather than what gender someone is. But I think men stylists who have been through this just "get it" a bit more.

    So... why not just figure out what clipper #, and do the cut yourself when you remove and wash the system?

    Yes Darling, one must use a professional that specializes in replacement systems. Cutting hair systems is not part of the standard training of hair stylists.

    I ruined my systems 2 times cutting the wrong way. Thought they were designed to be better than real hair and wanted short sides so chopped it. Then two lines appeared. Another mistake was a very low hairline, right where the vertical part of the forehead started, ewww

    Your hair looks brilliant. That's horrifying to have a Barber destroy an expensive piece... couldn't you just point cut around the edges so it's not so blunt? I would get my own clippers and just do my own hair, unless I really trusted a barber.
