You could. I personally would roll a d20 with the lowest roll going first and following from lowest to highest. The book does still mention drawing cards.
We ran it with a whole deck of cards( I had forgotten the box..) using numbers as usual, but red beats black and diamonds came before hearts, and clubs triumphs spades..

Any deck of cards will work, just pick out one suit.

I think I'll use a d10, the player rolls first, then I'll roll for the monsters/npcs... If its equal as the player, I'll re roll 😁
