A chillingly prophetic Twighlight Zone Episode from the late fifties. Predicting independent education and religion will be obsolete someday. Need I say more?
The difference between this and today's reality is that it isn't "the state" that is declaring people obsolete, it is a cabal of 10 billionaires who have disabled the governing process. In some ways it is the absence of a state, or of government, that is enabling this to happen. Our future is being decided not by policies made by elected officials, but by a private sector oligarchy. All our elected representatives have done for the last 40 years is raise campaign money and posture for C-Span. Members of Congress are among the last to find out about plans to replace workers with robots. They have no role.
I love the ending to this. But look at the actor who plays wordsworth. Some of you who watched Batman with Adam West or the reruns on the classics channels may recognize him, only here he's missing the monacle and top hat. He played the Penguin on that show and on one of the movies.
Logic I a menace … obsolete = CANCELLED !!! When you watch this , think social media and the state . Your job .. your life .. your friends … your cancelled because you don’t believe the Spirit of Anti- Christ . Jesus is Lord !
Perhaps the single most powerful episode of _The Twilight Zone,_ executed by two of its most accomplished alumni. Fritz Weaver was in what I believe was his VERY FIRST ACTING ROLE here, and he brings it off with scenery-chewing panache. Burgess Meredith would appear in no less than four TZ episodes, including the memorable and tragic "Time Enough At Last." The legacy these two men, plus writer Rod Serling have left us is as remarkable as it is indelible and unforgettable. 'Nuff said.
Glancing at my bookcase and the volumes on religion, art, history and even humor and nobody will ever take them away! Thanks for posting this gripping scene!

That's exactly what this episode is about. But unfortuantely I've seen some videos here on youtube of this episode that people have twisted the meaning of it to make out it's solely about atheists.
