That's the thing with warnings. They are often given at a time before things have got that bad, so most people don't really listen if they feel that they are living in relative comfort. Burgess Meredith is my favorite actor of all time, in part because of his work on TZ, Batman 66, and the Rocky films. Fritz Weaver chewed the F*** outta the scenery on this one too.
He was also the original actor for George in "Of Mice and Men", and his performance was so iconic (along with Lon Chaney Jr. as Lenny) that it was parodied countless times in MGM cartoons.

To Serve Man is my favorite episode. This one was also very deep. There will never be another show such as the Twilight Zone. Great television for sure. And the story lines were far before their time.
I have been watching The Twilight Zone since I was a kid back in the 1960's. I have watched many marathons, and have loved every episode. Thought I had seen them all. But I've never seen this one. Pretty shocking this one is. Pretty terrifying when you consider how close our society is to this state today.
RIP Neil Peart. He was a reader of ALL books and one of Twilight Zone's biggest fans. He spent his last days volunteering at his daughters library so he could be near her as much as possible as he wasted away of brain cancer.

The most terrifying thing about this episode is that we as a society are closer to this state now than we were when this episode first aired. Burgess Meredith is my favorite actor of all time, in part because of his work on TZ, Batman 66, and the Rocky films. Fritz Weaver chewed the F*** outta the scenery on this one too.

I have been watching The Twilight Zone since I was a kid back in the 1960's. I have watched many marathons, and have loved every episode. Thought I had seen them all. But I've never seen this one. Pretty shocking this one is. Pretty terrifying when you consider how close our society is to this state today.
RIP Neil Peart. He was a reader of ALL books and one of Twilight Zone's biggest fans. He spent his last days volunteering at his daughters library so he could be near her as much as possible as he wasted away of brain cancer.

The most terrifying thing about this episode is that we as a society are closer to this state now than we were when this episode first aired. Ours is an age that prizes utilitarianism and cold pragmatism over intellect and the human spirit, in a society that worships technology and discourages the pursuit of art, literature, culture and spirituality, either because they don't benefit the state or because it threatens the state's hold over the minds and hearts of its citizens.

The Twilight zone were really tuned into their predictions of our present world and future.

I sometimes feel like Burgess Meredith (the old guy in the episode), while at the same time knowing the older ways are actually some of the best ways too. Just because it is new doesn't mean it is better, or even the best.
@@generalawareness101 yeah, agreed, and remember the old ways are usually the best ways because the new ways usually come with a consequence one may not know of until after one buys into it!
