She made me mad because I have to wait till 4 AM here in Europe to watch Novak Djokovic. In the end I was happy to see that French girl,I never heard about, winning. Slaone didn't deserve to win, after leading 6-0 3-0 .

@@sk-wh6bx Even with tennis's low standards for the HOF, I think Sloane would not make it based on her being almost unremarkable career outside of 1 good year. Even without a grand slam title, I think Pegula has had a more relevant career.

Badosa vs Krejcikova will be a banger 3rd round match! Don't know who to root for, like em both...
Will be interesting to see how Shelton handles the experienced Bautista Agut. Could be a real stern test.

Djokovic even mentioned how he was not expecting to go on late with Stephens up 6-0 in a post match interview. And what was up with what you could barely call a handshake from Anisimova to Zheng?!

Years ago, I watched Sloane Stephens completely dominate Serena in the first set of the match. It wasn't that Serena was playing poorly, Sloane was playing nearly flawless tennis. Needless to say, Sloane's game fell off dramatically and Serena won the match in 3 sets rather easily. This was an insight into Sloane's career. She has shown amazing tennis at times, but has never lived up to the potential most say she has. When she is motivated, she can cover the court as well as just about anyone and she has enough power to dictate the game against most players. The problem is, she often seems lazy and unmotivated. I have seen matches where she looked almost disinterested. At the highest level of most sports, if you do not have an extreme amount of passion and drive, you will not reach the top no matter how much raw talent you have. Sloane will always be that underachiever who never really tapped all of her potential. At 31, she is on the back side of her career now with little hope of changing her mindset and her career trajectory.

Hate to say it but she lucked into that USOpen championship! Caught Venus on the wrong day after a brutally physical QF win over Kvitova in that semi. And faced an injured Keys in the final. She’s just not hungry for it

Sloane pissed everybody off but imma give her one last chance! I thought Coco’s forehand actually looked really good during the match. I think Gracheva targeted the forehand and there were plenty rallies to break the forehand down, but Coco stayed solid. Surprising you didn’t talk more about Sabalenka’s play which was scratchy and not nearly as flawless as Coco’s but I digress. Anyway, wishing my Coco Bean all the best the rest of the tournament.

The elegant Ms Sloane is a grand slam champ, 99% of players can’t say that, did she loose? Yes. But she was elegant even in defend greeting her opponent with a smile at the net at the end of the match. She’s had a good career and can come in and pick up these grand slam participation checks here and there.

Thanks for the US Open updates! It’s been a tough ride for Sloane Stephens since her US Open victory-she hasn't quite recaptured that spark on the court. As for Maria Sakkari, I’ve got a serious crush on her! Those muscles are impressive, but I really hope she’s not doing bodybuilding on the side. While I admire her strength, I worry that too much focus on building muscle could impact her agility and performance on the tennis court and could be responsible for all her injuries.

Sloane is in the process of starting a family. Sakkari is another one who could have a slam, and I feel won't do it. I am a windy city girl, so I am cheering tay tay all the way. But I realize it is doubtful that taytay can beat Paula. 😢 and I am a Paula fan, too!! I hope Ben can stay fit. The Frances Tiafoe match was my favorite one of the day. I am glad Lorenzo pulled thru 👍🏽 I have been a fan since he beat Novak.

Did anyone hear what Sloane said at her presser about the match or did she have one? She might be having "womanly" issues. You never know. But anyway, I didn't like the Coco "I'm going to win it again..." comment. I just want a players PLAY to do the talking, leave that other stuff for others! Now, I DID like when Ani told her coach, "Give me something" in her match with Q. That was fun-nee and she was right as thats their job! I think Rune was/is hurt as I don't think he would lose THAT badly to Brandon, who is good though. Gio Perricard has been disappointing on hard courts so far. His coach has to figure this out as his game is a good one and I want to see him win more titles! 🎾👌💕

Clara Burel is just a very underrated player with a great net game who might struggle getting wins, but her ceiling is high even if her power is lacking. Don't forget she beat Elina Svitolina this year who was defending her Strasbourg title. This was also when Svitolina was looking really scary on clay after having that epic Rome match with Sabalenka. This match against Sloane reminded me of the Donna Vekic vs Olga Danilović match at Roland Garros this year. Donna Vekic technically choked that match away, but the final set tiebreaker was extremely good on both sides unlike this match where Sloane got broken on her last two service games.

that is been the issue with her for the previous 3 US Opens, until she holds the title nothing is guranteed since a person who can retrieve and make her play one more ball are her weakness

Thought it was already obvious Sloan Stephens isn’t going to win anything big again, the best days of her career are over. Wasted opportunities. As per Gauff, it remains to be seen how well she performs but I don’t think anyone is picking her to keep the title, Sabalenka is the clear favorite. I think Ostapenko can beat Osaka but she’s so erratic, if Osaka is disciplined in her shots she will win. On the mens side, Holger Rune needs a complete reset and maybe a break from the tour is needed.

Great performance by 16 year old Iva Jovic. First time seeing her, she had very good depth and point construction. The key to women's tennis is keeping unforced errors to a minimum and she did a much better job than her opponent.

Coco can win it all again, she has the game and nobody is dominating Us Open so I believe it’s open. Event the hype with Saba is not guaranteed, Pegula is also playing well and Iga is always a huge possibility. Then there’s Zheng coming off Olympic high

Lmfao you predicting Sloane to have had 5 grand slams if she dialed into her talent. That’s very generous. I’d def think she could’ve had 2 maybe 3 but that’s given she also would’ve lost another 2/3 slams.
I don’t think she’s got more talent than a Azarenka or even a Kerber who’d consistently go toe to toe with an era of power hitters.
I don’t hope she keeps playing for nothing less other than happiness. She hasn’t seemed happy so perhaps some time off could be what she needs.

Sloane should retire. Her head is definitely not into the game. She is married and wealthy. I feel she is ready to start a family. No matter what we think how many players win a grand slam. We can say the same thing about Collin and Roger. Sloane has had a career most professional women can only hope for.

It's true, expectation was high for Sloane Stephens and I love watching her play. It's funny, she won a grand slam when she least expected it. You never know, maybe they'll be another opening in the future. Hopefully she can have one more deep run before she retires.
