why are these race skis so unreliable? ive had a yamaha fx sho never experienced much issues

Not surprised to hear that, the Yamaha FX SHO has a great engine, but in the case of these skis, the engines are modified to run at over X2 and is some cases X3 the stock horespower (!) with that level of output many parts are taken to the edge of their capacity to survive.

I saw sea doo failures too. FYI these skis are far from stock. Most of them are running a turbo set up.
