@@DVDFRMN Tim is more inovative in the melodic constrution, but Scott puts more emotion and vintage flavor in his playing ( more metal so to speak) . Like you i dont see the technical gap people speak about ( If any, is very small).

If they didn't know before I'm sure they know now. I think they were totally broadsided and Gob smacked by the demand for these guitars. Look at the back orders. They have almost single handedly revived interest in Progressive instrumental music and classical guitar playing.
These guitars are so amazing, that you don't even need to plug them in.

With the triple OG guitar players. Y’all made Steve Vai work hard to keep up and it came out legendary.. My son is 10 yrs old and had his heart set on playing drums till I showed him all of polyphia’ s body of work. Needless to say he’s obsessed. He’s doesn’t know it but i just bought him his first guitar and amp.. does anyone have suggestions on a good entry level pedal? I don’t play guitar I’ve tried and it’s just not in my mind wheelhouse, I’m a vocalist..
Loop pedals are great for newer players imo . That way he can record himself playing chord progressions and then he can learn how to play along to those prerecorded chord progressions. Great way for coming up with your own melodies or even just if you wanna practice certain techniques in a more musical context.
You'd just need to learn how to work the loop pedal but they typically come with instructions so it shouldn't be too much to figure out. Don't gotta go all crazy either. The Boss RC-1 loop station is a good one for entry level people. Then later on if he likes it enough he can look into more elaborate loop pedals with more robust settings to mess around with.
Also, maybe show your son Polyphia's drum work too ;) all four of the boys are beasts and you never know. Maybe your son will fall in love with both the drums and the guitars and may take up both instruments rather than just one. Best of luck to him either way though!
i agree man, show your kid their playthrough videos. tim and scott naturally get most of the spotlight in the studio tracks and music videos, but in the playthroughs the clays get their time in the sun, too, and we get to see that, man, they're pretty damn incredible, too! and who knows, he may fall in love with all those instruments and aspects of music. but yeah either way all the best to you and your kid, who is a lucky young man to have you as his dad!

Both these dudes are virtuosos, I'd not turn down either of these guitars, but I might go for Scott's signature over Tim's. Something about that gold finish calls to me, but then again, no pickguard and the vine inlay on the fretboard! Yea kinda wished these would be MIJ and let the first ones be the more “budget” option but it makes sense to keep them all Indo since they have a predominantly younger audience that’ll be less likely to drop Artist Prestige cash on a guitar. For what it’s worth their current Premium ones play and sound well, it’s not my J Custom but I can also get both boy’s models for the price of one J Custom.
These premium Ibanezes nowadays plays and sounds just as good as prestiges. You pay more for pretty much just for better detailed finish.

AZ literally means A to Z. Which makes the guitar versatile and can do all kinds of music.
All the RG Prestige models sell for less than $2k. That’s not a lot for a high end guitar. The RG 550 reissue sells for $1k and is made in Japan and equipped with Gotoh hardware. It’s the best guitar you’re going to get for the money. I’ve got one and it’s great. Might want to change the pickups but that all comes down to personal taste.
@@bucknasty69 Yeah, you are right, the RG550 anniversaries are great! But I'm not a fan of pickguards. So I'm just hoping that Ibanez brings up some models for 20 year Prestige anniversary next year :)
@@Kupferhans None of the other RG Prestige models have pickguards. Unless you want an RG 570 reissue, in which case I agree, that would be pretty cool.
@@bucknasty69 The other RG prestiges are either quite expensive or in case of the RG652: I have it already. To make it concrete I hope for reissues of the RG1570 or 2570. I really love the RG2570/RG2670 finishes and the shark tooth inlays. The RG1570 with Mirage Red and Mirage Blue Finish were also great and affordable guitars. But they are hard to find in good condition nowadays.

Both cool guitars i love ibanez, probably one of the most consistent guitar companies in quality, price and looks I honestly can't remember the last time I picked up a ibanez and thought it was a bad instrument
