Dozens of Princess Diana's dresses on display at Queen Mary Hotel

- (15 Jun 2012) PRINCESS DIANA'S DRESSES ON DISPLAY IN AMERICA
A new exhibit at the Queen Mary ocean liner and hotel in Long Beach, California, features dresses worn by the late Princess Diana.
The couture collection tells the story of a young princess, married at 19 and under the scrutiny of the world, learning to express herself through her clothes.
"It is interesting to have a whole collection that belonged to one person because you get the scope of her personal taste," said costumer conservator Cara Varnell. "And specifically with Diana what's interesting is that it changed. She went from being that young innocent bride that kind of stepped into this big world, and she had to find her own path."
"Diana: Legacy of a Princess" features nine of Princess Diana's dresses and gowns along with sketches and royal letters. There are approximately 2,000 items relating to the royal House of Windsor on display.
A portion of the proceeds generated by the exhibit will benefit the Pink Ribbons Campaign, a non-profit organization devoted to breast cancer awareness and prevention.
