Laura Rae, the end of your video was so moving. At 72 years young, I have finally come to realize that having my dad’s “fullback” muscular legs, have carried me through a wonderful life, and continue us to do so. Having my mother’s fuller, rounder face has been a blessing as I continue to add candles to my cake. And carrying both of them in my heart has enriched my life immeasurably ❤ For me, how I eat, exercising, family connection, makeup, skin care, and my 53 year marriage are all about living my best life, feeling my best self and being able to enjoy all we have created and achieved. Cheers to all for many more healthy years however we choose to present ourselves. Have a beautiful 4th and God Bless America🇺🇸❤
You brought tears to my eyes talking about your family. I am 65, I think we do accept ourselves more as we age. That is the wisdom, to just embrace what God gave us. I love your channel, you are so genuine ❤
When I was in high school, I looked into my grandfather‘s eyes and realized where my hazel eyes came from. That was when I stopped wanting blue eyes.❤️❤️
Laura, you look radiant! You are so gracious and wise. Accepting ourselves is truly a gift. I was kind of chuckling when you were talking about the Florida humidity! I live in the Tampa area & have naturally curly hair. As soon as I walk outside, it's instant frizz!😂 I love your channel & look forward to your videos. God bless.❤
Beautiful thoughts on self acceptance. I’ve never thought of it that way. Now, I will be grateful for the way my feet look! They’re just like my mom’s were…..not very pretty😂. But, I have a piece of her. ❤
Wonderful video ❤. I was just rearranging things in my guest bedroom and there’s a picture in there of my wedding with her! A flood of tears hit me like it was yesterday that we made the picture ❤. Also have a round accent table in there that belong to her! I cried a river thinking of the many times after school I would sit in her family room in a chair beside that table eating snacks! Probably all sounds crazy but it was before I completed your video and you spoke of your grandmother! I love you sweet friend ❤
I love these 10 beauty swaps. You have great suggestions! I agree with you on accepting who we are as we age. I am fair skinned and tried for so long to get as tanned as possible as a teenager and in my 20s and 30s. Somewhere along the line, I decided to accept the skin I am in.
Laura. Rhank you for sharing where you stand in life. I am your age. I appreciate your sekf acceptance. I also bought a similar light pink nail polish. I rarely put on polish. My 31yro daughter encoraged me to get into summer vibes As I am 6 weeks post a rotator cuff sergery, I'm not yet back to work. I went last week to the salon and have I great haircut, just to boost me up . Thank you, Greetings from Israel.
Assumed when I got in my senior years my oily skin would dry a little. It did not. I am still oily in the summer and normal/combo with an oily t zone in the winter. I change out my cleanser to a more deep pore cleanser in the summer and something a little gentler, but still for oily/combo skin in the winter. I have sensitive skin so I use the Paula Choice Calm Mineral Moisturizer with spf all year in the AM. After your last video I bought the Esse Birthday Girl nail policy. Love it!
I had no idea you live in north FL. I do as well; on the Atlantic side. This video is made for me! Thanks so much for all your recommendations and the time you spend bringing us your content. Very much appreciated!
Thanks Laura for sharing these tips :) My skin is combination and very sensitive especially products that have fragrance. I've been using the same cleanser from Neutrogena for years 🥰 The Vanicream Moisturizing Lotion and SPF 30 - are my beloved favorites too. My makeup is very subtle - I wear the same shade of lipstick and my blush is a soft pink for the summer. I love the tubing mascara from Milani - removes easily with just warm water. Let's pamper ourselves with kindness 💕 Take care everyone 🌹
For summer, I switch to a gel moisturizer. I also use a mineral sunscreen on my face, which is too drying in winter. (I’m 57, with combo skin that gets a little oilier in summer and a little drier in winter.)
OMGosh you always look so great ! I am learning from you and taking notes. Sadly, most of the products you display are not available in my country. Thanks !
Laura, I don't self tan & it's by choice. I just don't care for the look as we get older. I am very pale & I will stick to getting some color with blush & a bit of bronzer. I love the Colourpop & Elf was kind enough to send me the lady extended tubing madcara. I haven't opened it yet, because I am still using the thrive. In another month it will be time to open a new tube. I will let you know what I think of the elf mascara at that time. Have a great week.
I enjoy every video/review you do, Laura❣️ Everything you show us makes sense for us mature ladies and I trust your opinions and honesty! Thank you, keep up the great information 😍🤩
Thank you so much for this very valuable information. I have been wearing the same makeup year round and I knew there had to be a better way. Great job.
Great tips! I do change out to lighter foundation and softer blush and eye makeup. I am really hooked on the new ELF satin finish foundation and I think I will use it year round. I have weird toes. The one next to my little toe curves in to the middle toe and none of them are straight. My dad’s were like that so that makes it fine. I am hard on myself with my crepey eyes and wrinkles. I am 71 and both my mom and grandmother were very wrinkled. I will say I’m not as wrinkled as they were but I fight it all the time with creams , retinol, etc. and when I tell people I’m 71 they can’t believe it , so that makes it better. I also attribute it to healthy eating and 16 years of Zumba. I was an Instructor for 12 years so most of the time it was 6 or more times a week. Now as a student, I go to Zumba 4 times a week. I grew up in Miramar so not far from where you lived. I know you are enjoying your retirement. I’m sure you will especially like it when school starts and you don’t have to go! LOL
Hi Laura I’m still dry in Summer, but not the extreme dryness of the Scottish winter 🥶 😂. This is when I play with moisturiser that I can’t use in the cold months- a little lighter and without the really buttery texture I need normally. I switch out my normal ultrasun spf30 to their spf50+ in the Summer months (still need a moisturiser underneath btw). It’s the same with body care as I switch out the heavy butters to a lotion texture. My hair is dry/coarse/curly so frizz is a constant 😂, but it is humid here and it’s a constant battle in the Summer months. I tie it up most of the time with pretty clips etc. Makeup is lightweight and far more sheer eg tinted moisturiser, liquid glowy blush, balm/gloss on the lips and a simplified eye. Best wishes x
I enjoyed your family story at the end, and you look beautiful as always Laura. 💞 I love lighter, sheerer colors in the summer. What eyeshadow are you wearing in this video?
At 12:00 minutes you will see me applying the shadows. I am using the shadow sticks from Jane Iredale. The links are in the description of the video. Hope this is helpful!❤️❤️
I am so much my dad, who's been gone since 2001. I dont mind seeing the similarities at all, be they a little quirky. All my switches are usually to lighter feel products in the summer, and usually brighter lip and nail colors. Loved the video, hope you're enjoying retirement!
I am in my middle 60’s now and yes I have changed my attitude about myself, and for the first time in my life I like myself for who I am and what I have overcome ! I also am very allergic to self tanner in any form, cream, foam, lotion or drops. I also break out in hives just like you. I am very pale and I am just accepting that and no longer attempt to get a tan because it just doesn’t happen !! It’s funny that you talk about your feet. My aunt always teased me that I had my fathers toes, the 3rd toe is the longest toe and it curves to the outside a little, and the two little toes looks kinda like Vienna Sausages and they curve to the inside of my foot ! I used to get so mad at her teasing me about them ! I lost my dad 13 years ago and now I love having his weird toes ! I just look at them and smile and remember my dad ! Isn’t it funny how our perspective changes as we get older ????
This! This video, more than any other, has me watching (and listening) over and over again! Southern California has always been known for "perfect" weather, even in Summer - but not lately! These past few years have brought high heat and surprisingly heavy humidity, and I've had to change practically everything about my skincare and makeup routines and products almost every day. So I've been adding more serums and lighter liquid formulas, using fewer creams - and using more skincare at night with fewer items during the day. Some of my old reliable products are, surprisingly, working great for me right now. I still and always will love Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB cream as a light moisture, light pigment base over SPF. This BB cream has a bit of SPF itself, and it's so spreadable I can take it right up under my eyes without it making eye makeup get runny and smeared. Its mineral formula rides really nice over the separate mineral SPFs I use, and the blending is really nice. I love a matte finish setting spray, but it's so hard to find one that doesn't contain alcohol. I can't use Milani's because of the alcohol. Can you recommend one? Love your videos, Laura Rae - Thanks!
PS The Elf lip color you show here isn't just stamped with a heart - that heart-shaped core is actually a moisture core that runs all the way through to the bottom of the stick. I've used up and replaced a few of those lippies, in several colors. They're really great!
Do you switch up your beauty routine for Summer? Let’s chat in the comments.

This is a beautiful way of looking at life!❤️❤️

Your comment really made my day!❤️❤️
I love how you talk about family and self acceptance. It is so true and sad it takes years for so many to realize this! 💞

@@LauraRaeBeautyThank you so much! You are as well! You certainly do not look 60!

Love the Elf gel lip. I had several shades
I absolutely love all the products from the Davines line- the oil is amazing!
It is fabulous!❤️
Like your swaps. Tubing mascara is made to remove with warm water. For myself it has to be very warm and works great.

Yesterday I ordered me some more Snail Mucin but I need to get another moisturizer. Thank you for the ideas!❤️

Your skin looks beautiful. Thanks for those summer tips. Maybe I’ll start doing this. ❤
I think you are gorgeous and love all the product information
Thank you so much!❤️❤️
I remember how glowy I got living in Boynton Beach lol.
Oh, I love that area
My great grandparents lived there.❤️❤️

Self acceptance is very important. No one can truly be happy until they learn to accept themselves!
Any suggestions for dry feet? My feet peel in the summer
I use a thick moisturizer and wear socks to bed.❤️
Great video, I don't love my toes, too much like my dad's, but I finally embracing who I am as well! Took long enough 😂
Both of my sisters are makeup free also!
You're beautiful 🤩 Inside and out 💛💫
