      Ok, but using a HELICOPTER to track a motorcyclist just because he wasn't wearing a helmet? wtf?

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The helicopter was already airborne (it's an event with specific coverage). The motorcyclist had already been warned once and took off. This was his second encounter. The bike turned out to be unregistered and he had warrants.

    • @SgtSteel1
      @SgtSteel1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CWLemoine Ok great, but what's the cost of keeping that bird in the air vs what he'll get in fines? Could they not have checked his registration at the first encounter? (I thought that was standard) It doesn't add up in my mind; not while inflation is high, costs for pretty much everything going up, potential shortages of goods etc. Where were the helicopters when blm caused 100's of millions in damages? It doesn't add up for me. Sorry.

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The flying hour program is funded whether they are supporting this stop or not. They were airborne and the call came out so they supported it. They weren't just going to land otherwise, so that argument is null. The first encounter, they warned him verbally and he sped away from them. He returned and another deputy noticed and they made the connection that it was the same bike breaking the law after being warned. When stopped, the person was found to have no registration and active non-extradition warrants. I can't answer your last question because there were no BLM riots causing 100s of millions in damages in Gulfport or Biloxi.

    • @SgtSteel1
      @SgtSteel1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CWLemoine Ok. Thank you. Over here (in the UK), police helicopters are only deployed for serious situations. It's normally left for the police on the ground to do things. I didn't know it was routine to deploy helicopters in the US (with specific coverage as you said). Thanks.

    As a former military (not US) H/C pilot (now retired) I have had the opportunity (twice) to fly in a fighter jet, as back seater, even flying the jet for some moments which confirmed what I already knew: the regret to not having been a fighter pilot. I would have enjoyed so much to fly these things but it has not been possible due to some kind of mistake in my first medical examination. A big regret ... Anyway at last I enjoyed flying helicopters, it was nice as well.
    But on another hand I'm really amazed to see that, as a former fighter pilot, you seem to enjoy so much flying helicopters 😉 For my part I'm flying fixed wing airplanes now in a Flying Club. Funny ...

      I think the benefits of having night air support in a decent sized coastal community like this greatly outweigh the risks, especially during events like this where traffic is so congested that motor units are often having trouble getting from A to B. With all the GSXR's and other street bike traffic who can easily outrun the patrol cars at any time but with air support It's like the old saying "You can't outrun a Motorola". It becomes a problem quickly when people realize they can break the laws and get away so easy. I see the heli missions as more of a necessity here and it looks like they're doing a great job at it, too.

    Very cool! It must be a warm night when you can fly in a short sleeve shirt. Was there a flight level restriction? Look how much time/money they wasted on this poor guy just for NOT wearing a stupid helmet! In *my* state (Texas), helmets aren't even required. But then again... we can't legally smoke weed, so we spend a fortune chasing *those* folks around! So there's that...

    It’s a shame so much helicopter time was spent chasing a biker for not wearing a helmet.

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The helicopter would've been airborne either way. They respond when traffic stops come over the radio or calls for assistance. They did exactly what they needed to... and the biker had been warned once already and wound up having no registration/insurance, and active warrants.

    Mover, you really need to realize that no matter how cool aviation is, working with a bunch of dirty cops is never good publicity for this channel. You're on the wrong side of this fight and I for one won't be back supporting you until you distance yourself from actively helping these tyrants.
    Police do not need more capability or help from dangerously capable individuals. They need to be reigned in and have their toys taken away until they learn to respect the people you fought to protect.
    Stop helping your enemies.

      This comment is idiotic, but I am curious what proof of "dirty cops" you have here? Do you know any of them personally? I believe you are on the wrong side here, but your absence won't be missed either way.

      @@CWLemoine proof? You do live in America, right? Those are American cops, right?
      That's all the proof needed. The majority of them are actively involved in violations of civil rights on a regular basis and some of that group are regularly involved in much worse. American police culture is a culture of criminality and gang warfare. And beyond that, those outside of that group of active criminals are complicit to the crimes of the others and refuse to hold them accountable for their crimes in the slightest until their police unions and lawyers can no longer dig them out of it. They even protect the murderers among themselves and paint them as angels until the gavel falls and declares them guilty. Don't pretend to be too blind to realize it.
      They not only have qualified immunity applied too broadly, which they actively abuse and constantly seek to expand to the point of sounding more and more like gestapo than ever, they also have their blue line code of cover-ups to prevent the need to argue immunity in court in the first place by hiding a large swath of their crimes.
      If you haven't done the research into modern police culture or seen the astounding amount of evidence freely available right here on this platform from independent sources, or haven't recognized the problems in our justice system, I won't blame you for being ignorant, but if you're just bootlicking when you know better, you should be ashamed of yourself. Supporting modern police with anything more than a few kind words is a borderline violation of your oath to the constitution and very near to outright betrayal of the American people. You are helping the most dangerous criminal gang in this nation.
      The only good cops are those who regularly arrest the bad cops as willingly as they arrest any other citizen, and there are no cops doing so today. Every cop who tries to be a good cop either gets corrupted or bullied out of the job. I'm open to being proven wrong if you are able. Show me your "good cops" and then show me the FOIA info you gather of all their on-the-job records of the past year and you'll see exactly why they're not really good cops, they're just nice to those who agree with them.
      Our police are more of a problem than a solution these days. They are no longer protectors, but an occupying force in their own nation, and everyday Americans are the new insurgents they hunt. The rules of engagement are constantly being rewritten to "shoot first, pretend you were scared, and avoid all questions later."
      If that's not enough proof for you, I'm out.
      Thank you for your service, but shame on you for your support of this crooked system. We need great men working to reform this mess, not exacerbating it by going along with it.

      Ah, yes. Pure ignorance and a one-size-fits-all approach. As with any profession, there are outliers that abuse their position. The majority of cops are good. I've been in law enforcement for 7 years now. Your blanket statement is false. Your opinions are based in ignorance. Nearly everything you posted is factually incorrect.

      Your personal experience does not tell the whole story and does not apply to every law enforcement agency in the country. As I said, I have been in law enforcement for 7 years. Not just supporting, but I've done the job. I've seen what the men and women in uniform do first hand.
      And you are dead wrong about everything you've said.
      You should do a ride along and get educated. In the meantime, this is not an airport and you don't need to announce your departure. You will not be missed.
