    THIS IS IT
    The most challenging breakdown I've done... by a mile!!
    There is one sample missing, for a vocal chop... nobody knows what the sample is. So this is only 95% accurate!
    Hope that I have delivered on this legendary track

    This is one of the many reasons I don’t listen to Donuts. I began from that album, took myself all the way back to 93’ thanks to the real Dilla Heads. When I realised it was all mind blowing music that stapled his talent. I returned to Donuts with too much emotion to continue dissecting it. The emotions are way too much on Donuts. He definitely left a message.

    Ive always loved that "I don't really care" and the lightworks bit he added. And dude you freaked this one 🔥 🔥 🔥

    • @Narokx
      @Narokx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I have the lightworks details added in the project file, but I couldn't find space to put it in the video.
      If I am remembering correctly he sprinkled those sounds throughout donuts!
      Appreciate the love :)

    Not to just unfairly make things a contest but the flip from him I feel like coming to back most is his Believe in God flip. Also his flip of Alice Cooper on the remix to Fall in Love by Slum Village.

    • @Narokx
      @Narokx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is all subjective. I did "Love it here" and I thought it was harder than this one, but it isn't this one still harder. There is even ONE sample chop missing here, that no one has been able to figure out
      I've done fall in love, and I didn't think it was that hard. I am interesting in doing Believe in God... 👀👀

    one of j dilla best work he chopped like this chop cheese do you take any request ???

    • @Narokx
      @Narokx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Patreons used to give requests, but honestly I am overworked. The line is monumental at this point lol. And I have a bunch of stuff already done.
      But let me know and if I'm inspired it will skip the line

    Not all his chops were the greatest chops to listen to. This one is a great example. I Love donuts but there are some tracks in there that made me question why and how was he bumping to this!!!! Gives me a Headache lmao. And ima Ultra Dilla Fan But My Fav era was the JayDee Era!!! #SwingUpDaDrums!!

    Dude i gotta be honest with you, switching back and forth between the og and your remake is annoying. Feels like youre only doing that to mask the incompleteness of your track. If you cant recreate it just dont lol

    • @Narokx
      @Narokx  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I actually used to do that to prove that I wasn't just selecting random chops and playing the real version on top of some animated BS... but I realized now that is much better to play my version (even though the mix might not be it) and then play the original.
      Funny how that backfired 😅

    Is it just me who doesn’t think the chops don’t sound good in this beat, I love dilla’s music but I think this one sounds too rough.

    • @Narokx
      @Narokx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Taste is taste.
      But this is for sure one of the most legendary tracks in sampled music

    • @BRINGINGtheBANTER
      @BRINGINGtheBANTER 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Narokx the feel of the track is great, and it’s still a great track but it bugs my ears, and the chops sound a little too choppy for me, like you say it’s taste after all, I take nothing away from the production in general it’s great, just sounds a bit rough and repetitive to me that’s all. Really not hating dilla is in my top 3 favourite producers,
      For me it’s dilla, dre, Pete rock as my top 3
      People will have a completely different feel to that list and of course hear that track different to how I do.
      Great video though must of been a nightmare doing this one.
      People sometimes act like you should automatically love every beat your favourite producers out but it’s not like that for me anyway 🤣

    • @BRINGINGtheBANTER
      @BRINGINGtheBANTER 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Narokx some people like tracks to sound really choppy though don’t they, I prefer it when you can tell it’s a chop but they are fairly smooth transitioning into each other. Personal taste I guess.

    • @Narokx
      @Narokx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BRINGINGtheBANTER 9th Wonder's Go all out that I broke down and did a deep dive video on it is a perfect example on how manipulated chops can be so smooth that it feels like it isn't chop and it is just a loop.
      Both ways a re amazing. Even when it sounds more chopped the way he makes it all fit together using the kick's and Snare to hide some of the choppiness it is hella impressive.
      Also Pete Rock is one of my favorite producers, that I haven't finished a breakdown on!
