I had my 10th birthday during the original run of Series 20, so I remember this and Series 19 quite well. I never really think of The Five Doctors as a part of Series 20, probably because of the rather long 8 month gap before it's broadcast on 25th November and the end of The King's Demons on 16th March, that was a long time to a 10 year old. Even though I recorded The Five Doctors on VHS at the time I don't remember it being shown as part of Children In Need. I do remember a transmission fault on the final TARDIS scene where the picture changed twice briefly. I wonder if that was a regional opt-out glitch being so close to the end of the programme, assuming it was part of the live broadcast for CIN. This was close to the Christmas school holidays I probably watched that tape a lot, which probably explains why even today I can remember the script almost word for word. So for a favourite story I'm going to go with Arc of Infinity, as this would have been the first story I'd seen set on Gallifrey and it was great to see more of the TARDIS interior. I think Tegan coming back was a surprise too as I don't think she featured in the trailer.
Great review, as usual! 👍 2:03 "I need to rewatch season 20 clearly" - you will when the set is released and arrives! 😁 I wish Terminus had revamped CGI...
Davison, Fielding and Sutton are so ubiquitous across all the sets (due to Behind the Sofa), one could almost start to get a bit sick of them. I hope they've actually got something different to say, or is it just going to be their usual schtick?
mawdrin undead always freaked me out, mawdrin's transformation is so scary! can i pre order the standard edition yet? and in my marathon of who i'm just reaching the end of series 19, so good timing for this collection! and i hope i make it to the bfi this time because they will probably show the five doctors!
I think this will probably be out well before November to be honest. I am sure I read somewhere it was a "Summer" release, so I expect August... and then something else for the November/60th - possibly the colorisations that we were promised
So excited that we're getting another season, I still have to get season 9, and then the older releases from season 17 backwards excluding Season 14 and 26, So I currently have Season 2, 14, 17, 22, and 26 so I still have quite a bit to get but I do own some of the Classic Who seasons on Blu-ray, honestly the thing I'm the most excited is the updated special effects and a new version of the Five Doctors, the updated special effects have sometimes made me like a story more than I should like I actually enjoyed most of Timelash when I watched it on Blu-ray, and I enjoyed Creature from the Pit pretty well too because of how it concluded showing that there are benevolent aliens in Doctor Who and that humans or humanoid aliens can be the true threat
Unfortunately us Yanks have awhile longer to wait if the November date holds because unfortunately the BBC loves to make their US and Canadian fans suffer and wait 100+ days. HOPEFULLY this will be a return to form for at least closer release windows if not concurrent simultaneous releases… but given it’s the BBC? Who knows.
Whaahoo!! Another boxset to my collection. Okay season 20 is honestly not one of favourite seasons from the show. I think nearly all the stories are bit nah except for Five Doctors, but im happy it’s been announced because it was rumoured for some time now.
The mini episode trailer to the box set with Tegan and Nyssa was amazing in itself.
Couldn't agree more!
Great video. The date for the release of Season 20 is the 18th September 2023. Just been informed by HMV of the date. Can't wait for mine.
Its amazing whats happened in the world since we had a 5th Doctor boxset! 😂

I only watched season 19 a couple of months ago, so this seems very fitting

Impatiently awaiting Aussie release details
I hate to say but my first story was the king’s demons, then my PBS station skipped the Five Doctors. Looking forward to the set.

Janet and Sarah have always been first rate. Peter can be hit or miss, but the hits are far better and make it all worthwhile.

The five doctors is going to have 3 discs.
3 down, 2 to go! ❤

I still find it so annoying how they still use the old BBC logo on the box. It's just so annoying to me.
