My ancient RX-V1800 that had a powering on problem sometimes so retired a couple years ago, got pulled back into service recently as my music amp. After a week or so of reliably starting, the random failure to start issue returned requiring a power cycle which sometimes worked and occasionally didn’t. So having seen the short video from CARBON and now your far more explanatory video, I’ve swapped out the Cap. The V1800 cap is not quite so conveniently located requiring pulling the power board out to access the Cap, but still a very easy task. Hopefully that was the only issue. Time will tell… thanks for the guide.
Hi Dan, super thanks for the video. I’ve just ordered that same capacitor, does the capacitor have a positive and negative. I’ll change mine next few weeks. Thanks
Hi, some capacitors it does matter, but as far as I can remember, this particular one is not polarised and so doesn't matter. Just check for any markings on the old and new ones and try to match them if so.
I have Yamaha rx-a1030 . DSP A1-1 DSP Margin problem as per Self Diagnosis. The solution is the same? The same capacitor model must be changed ? Thank you very much for the possible answer !
Hi, I have the rxv650 receiver and after watching a film last night I used the remote to change the surround setting and the amp switched off and now won't power back up hopefully it is the same problem, this little capacitor seems to be quite a common problem .... Fingers crossed
Hi sir I have Yamaha dsp 110 problem power on take time need to press more then 30 times after working what is problem there any battery charge maybe weak ?
@@DannStarrElectronics DSP-AX640SE turns of after 3 seconds what capicitor should i change? according to the service manual its an issue with the dc side of the ps, ut its unclear what cap i should change, any ideas?
I hope you remembered to remove those 2 previous capacitor’s legs you cut and pulled out, then laid them on top of the power transformer. I didn’t see that you removed them and now they could be floating around inside the unit looking for a place to short out something.
