  • After 1 full season under my belt with my 2015 Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW I share with you my boat's experiences on the many different bodies of water I traveled to. I also share my thoughts on the boat and show you some features I like. This video closes out with some of the fish I had the pleasure of catching. The boat has been great to own and I have no regrets buying it. This video is a follow up from my previous video A Dream A Reality.

Some thought the water footage at the beginning was a bit much but I figured it would be beneficial to show the boat in many different lakes and water conditions. I have the 2017 and I agree 100% about the trolling motor not being enough for this boat. By far my biggest frustration especially in any kind of wind, but I love the boat. I also moved the stock fish finder to the front when I upgraded at the dash. Not ideal but you dont have to turn around and look at the big unit spun around.

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish Tracker would have put the next size up in trolling motors. I figured I wasn't the only one with the same problem. I'm definitely putting a new trolling motor on my wish list. Great idea moving the stock finder to the front. Does the job and saves a few bucks! I love my boat as well. A few tweaks here and there and it will be even better. Thanks for watching. Tight lines!

    Great vid, thx!! I put a Minn Kota Maxxum 70lb 24v on my 99 Pro Team 175, and it has worked wonders compared to a 45lb. You would prob love it. Boat buckles are also well worth the money as you know. Plastic trailer bunk guides from Amazon are also well worth the money!! Tight lines!

      Thanks very much Steve! I have no doubt in my mind that you are enjoying that upgrade in trolling motors. I would enjoy anything higher than a 45 at this point lol. The boat buckles are something I definitely like and would buy all over again. I thought about the plastic bunk guides. I had to replace my bunks and did everything in carpet again. Built them myself. Came out fantastic. Thanks for sharing your upgrades on your boat. Sounds like you are extremely happy with them. Tight lines!

    With rod socks on the rods you can fit 20+ in that locker, mostly in the large middle spot. The rod socks also allow the rods to slide into the tubes better and protect the eyelets. I have a 2017 w/ the 60hp and love it. Great boat! It's pretty much the same boat as yours minus the front livewell. That space is another storage space mirroring the one you have on the starboard side. The butt seat is nice for rough water. My biggest recommendation would be upgrading the trolling motor to a 80lb thrust Minn Kota Ultrex if you can swing it. It's a game changer when it comes to fishability. Work on trimming out your motor because even with the stock prop you should be getting better top speed than that. Unless of course you're fishing with a large co-angler or a full tank of fuel/full livewell. Great video!! Subscribed!

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks John 👍 you made some great suggestions! I like the rod sock idea. Definitely will look into the Ultrex. If my budget permits that will definitely get done this year. Many have suggested that on the Facebook group for this boat. Hate struggling against the wind. As for trimming I probably wasn't in the sweet spot. Things I learn being a first time boat owner. Appreciate your useful advice. Thanks for watching and subscribing. Cheers!

    We had mine out in waves like that last fall. It handled the waves well but I was sure glad when my son (driving) decided it would be much safer to turn around. We were a long way from land at the time on an unfamiliar lake with 3 adult males on board. The boat handles extremely well in smooth or rough water.

    Great video! Got my 2017 TXW w/60HP 7 months ago. Ive got the 4 blade prop and I can hit 37-39mph at 5800=5900rpm trimmed up in calm water. That 75HP would add 150 lbs on the back which is quite a bit. I've added a front 7 inch sonar unit and it makes a great improvement. I also put a 55# MK Edge on the boat and it handles the wind quite well. The 24 V battery TM, 70 or 80# is nice, and expensive, but its really tight in back so I opted to put a MK alternator charger on the single battery TM system. Havent needed a home AC charge in 5 trips now so it works wonderfully. Great boat.

      @X2OOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Scott! You've done some awesome stuff with that boat! Those are some excellent numbers on the 4 blade prop. Nice upgrade with the trolling motor as well. Definitely a big difference. That 4 blade prop also helps the boat get up on plane faster too. Definitely a good upgrade for all. I'm wondering one of the lower unit wings would help get you up on plane faster too? You can get a cheap one at Walmart I may try. The TM situation has a lot of tradeoffs and depends on your priorities. Having been in boating a long time I've found batteries are one of the more expensive "consumables". Keep up your video work! Thanks

    I enjoyed your presentation which brought to light some of the same issues I’ve experienced in the past with my 2006 ProTour 175 TX. I bought the boat from the original owner 4 years ago and have nothing but good things to say regarding the quality,durability and how easy it is to get in and out of the water. The original motor was a 2006 Mercury 9.9 four stroke which way too small for my application but originally set up for HP restricted lakes. I traded it for a 1998 Mariner 25 two stroke which was a step up but still under powered for the boat’s weight. Presently I’ve upgraded to a 2004 Mercury 50 two stroke and experimenting with Prop options. According to the boats speedometer I’m in the 30-32 range and unfortunately not having GPS service it’s all I have to go by. Time will tell but I foresee hanging a Mercury 75 four stroke on its back someday.
    I really liked the lift rod pistons on your Rod compartment and I hope to set mine up the same way. My 06 has 3 compartments all having the same size lid and they would be a great addition. I apologize for the short story here and I could go on and on about the Tracker..
    Best wishes,stay safe and your line alway wet.

      Thanks very much for your well laid out comment. Nice to hear what others have done with their boats. Even if its a short story ;) which I appreciate. Sounds like you're taking steps which is good. I'm doing the same thing. I've done a bunch of small ticket stuff which has made a difference but not breaking the bank. I have managed to get my 60hp to 37mph. By myself and all my gear with perfect conditions on the water. I keep dreaming about a 75hp just not sure if I'm going to do it. The rod pistons are nice to have for sure. I keep thinking of a 4 blade prop but just don't want to lose top end speed which I have heard from others. Albeit I don't think its a big loss but some. I'm ok with anyone correcting me on that if I'm wrong. I will definitely change the trolling motor at some point too. Overall its a great boat and has brought me much fun and nice fish.
      Thanks for stopping by and sharing. Tight lines!

      @@X2OOutdoors Thanks for the reply.. Last year I splurged for a new 4 blade Spitfire 10.3 x 13 pitch Aluminum which was recommended by the dealer. I was looking for top end (what guy doesn’t) and it resulted in just about the same hole shot but caused the motor to exceed the RPM range. So $236.00 I now have a spare prop :(. I just watched a vid the other day where a guy put a Stainless on his boat because he was having problems with hitting debris. He ended up going back to the Aluminum after bending the motors shaft. I guess they do make a hub which basically works like a shear bolt and will take the hit instead of the shaft.
      As for other people saying stick to what you have? I don’t know and I also considered the fact that the 75 will probably weigh a bit more so factor that into the equation and maybe the end result won’t be worth the quest. BUT, I also have read where the new 4 Strokes are crazy friendly on the gas tank so.......
      I suppose as long as you’re catching fish it really doesn’t matter, right.
      I was going to mention I did land a nice used Bimini top off a boat a guy was going to salvage and it ended up being the same color as my boat so I put it on last summer. It is definitely an asset on those hot sunny days and also it will keep the seats somewhat dry if you’re camping.
      Once again Thanks for the reply and I’ll be back at ya another day. Peace

I liked seeing that the 175 can run a little faster / better than the 170 and takes the waves a bit better, I realize I can't run WOT in heavy conditions but it does seem to ride a lot better than mine a little better V to the hull than the 170. --- Id love to see more footage of it running in heavier water there really isn't any out there .... I chose to go with the 60HP due to less weight (roughly 150lbs) on the transom. I want to add another battery for a 24V trolling motor system which will add more weight in the back. I also plan on getting Raptors or Talons in the near future which will also add more weight. So I methodically chose to go with the 60HP and will just upgrade the prop to a 4 to get just a few MPH faster.
    If I wanted anything bigger than a 60HP with all the accesories I'm going to add, I would have just bought the 195 TXW that is plenty fast and will handle all the weight you can throw at it or just get a Nitro or Bass Cat etc. I think you chose wisely with the 60HP Merc. I love the extra mph you can achieve with the 75 and love the way it looks on the boat but for me it's just too much added weight on the back when I plan on adding these other accesories that will probably end up weighing about 150lbs. The upgrades with the 75 could possibly submerge the discharge valve with all that weight and that's not good if the bilge pump needs to do its job. Just a speculation. Anyways, awesome boat!
    Look forward to more videos!

      @X2OAnglingOutdoors They are great budget boats.
      They get the job done and some. I wouldn't be so upset to have to fix something on a Tracker than I would be if it were a Ranger or Phoenix.
      No comparison of course but that's why Tracker is a great budget friendly boat. Unless I'm doing back to back tournaments nationwide, the 175 and 195 is really all I would ever need for small, mid or larger lakes. If I did a lot of river fishing, I'd personally look into the Deep V Trackers to better handle the bigger chops.
      Compared to most other budget friendly aluminum boats, Tracker seems to hold their value a little more regardless of their budget friendly cons... probably due to their heavy advertising. So that's something else to keep in mind if you're looking to sell and upgrade to that 195 or Nitro.

    I'm torn between a 2012 PT 175 txw and a 2008 PT 190tx. I know there's only like a 8" difference in length. Both have been upgraded to a 24 volt trolling motor. The 190tx comes with two humminbird fishfinders with si and di. The 175 has a 60hp four stroke mercury and the 190 has a 90hp optimax. There is only a $1000 difference in the asking price. Both boats are from New England so the hrs on the motor will not be super high.

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Backpacker. Now that sounds like a difficult decision. Both have the 24volt trolling motor so that a bonus. Question is horsepower and boat age. The fishfinders are nice but are a smaller cost versus motors. Will you be happy with your power on the backend and age difference between the two? Is the Optimax a 2 stroke? I have the 60 and constantly think of how the 75hp would perform and cost. The 60 is good and does the job. When l decided on my 2015 I actually had a deposit on a 2012 which I changed my mind on. My deciding factors? The 2015 was 3 years newer and lower hours on motor plus had fish finders and a cover which the other didn't have. Cost difference was $2000. Not sure if I was helpful but everyone's preferences are different.

    • @Justin-tp3lr
      @Justin-tp3lr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@X2OOutdoors the optimax is a 2 stroke. Both boats come with covers, the 190 tx doesn't have tubes in the rod lockers, they just lay in there. There is probably a few thousand differences in the price of the two.

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I was searching all I wanted was a 4 stroke motor. I ran into some with 2 strokes and just walked away. My father had the 90 Optimax on his Smokercraft boat if I remember correctly. He always complained about the price of the oil he had to put in it. He was a cheap man lol. With my experiences with 4 stroke I will never go back to a 2 stroke. You will get the 2's cheaper and many in great condition I just hate the oil aspect of it.

    I had an 04, one of the first years they had the Revolution Hull. Liked it a lot, sold it cause I moved and fished only small rivers and ponds for several years. Thinking of getting a new one now that I'm near reservoirs again. Question for you - When trailering the 175, do you notice the motor tilts to one side or the other after traveling a few miles? Even with the transom saver? My 04 did that, it would be turned way to one side by the time I got to the lake. Probably didn't hurt it, but still.

      Hey there HypoLuxa13. Unfortunate you had to sell it but understandable considering your situation changed. Tough having a boat sitting around collecting dust. To answer your question. I haven't had any issues with the motor on my 2015 tilting to one side while trailering. And I've been down some bumpy roads and it hasn't moved. I don't think it would do any damage to it being tilted like that but definitely better with it straight while traveling.

      @@witterhemi you have some decisions to make :) I think its a great fishing boat. Think about any extras you may want to add and where that will take you down the road cost wise. We all want to find the right boat at the right price. It can be tough for sure.

    How long is you’re storage unit ? My garage is about 20 feet long, will that be long enough to put the boat in the garage ?

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mark. My storage unit is a 10 X 40 so I definitely have the room lol. I think with the swing tongue retracted on the trailer you may just be able to squeak it in. According to some specs I just pulled up it says boat storage length is 19'1" and towing length with tongue extended is 22'3"
      I think those numbers are correct. Hope that helps? Thanks for stopping by!

    Is the boat very stable? I’m about to buy a 2020 tournament edition 175 and use to fishing out of a 17 foot fiberglass javelin. Just curious thanks

      The boat has a pretty wide beam measuring 7 feet 5 inches so its stable. I've had no issues. I prefer my boats to be stable too and this one does the trick.

    Did you upgrade your prop? Trying to figure out which one to put on mine.

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I haven't done it yet. I'm afraid of losing some of my top end speed with making the change. Generally I'm by myself so the holeshot is no problem. With 2 I'm good still. When I add a 3rd person that's where I have issues and the 4 blade would probably shine. I'm pushing 35-36 mph with the original prop. I'm undecided on what to do.

    Did I hear correct that this boat would hold rods in the locker over 8ft?

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Devan. There's a sticker attached to the inside of rod locker door that tells you the length of rod each tube will hold and the very center opening says it will hold a 8.5 foot rod. I currently have an 8 foot musky rod in that spot. My boat is a 2015. Thanks for watching 👍

      Hey David! Which bay are you talking about? The boat can handle choppy waters. Depends on your comfort level?

    Went To the Tracker Boat center in Shakopee. Mn. to look at a used boat. It was crap so I looked at a new boat. They emailed me a quote including taxes and all fees along with a credit app. I filled out the app online overnight and went to the dealer at 8am when they open. They said the price went up overnight $1,505.00. They don't want to honor their own written quote that's less than 24 hours old. Then at 5pm I get a call and email saying...OOOOPs. Its the 2022's that went up in price not the 2021's. still want the boat? UMMMMMMMMMMM.

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely take the 2021 at the lower price. I don't think the boats have changed that much to warrant a big price increase in the 22. Then the dealer doesn't want to honor a quote? Unbelievable! Drives me crazy some of the practices going on out there.
      I got my boat used for a good price. Was well kept. I do enjoy it. Hope your boat purchase works out for you. Thanks for watching.

    How is the top end Speed?

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Alysson! Top end was pretty good. I managed to pull 32mph on the 60hp. Some have told me they have gotten more out of theirs by playing with the trim and changing to a 4 blade prop. I plan on changing out my stock 3 blade to a 4 blade Spitfire. Will improve the holeshot and probably bump the mph up a bit. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

    Sir i need qn opinion i fish out of a 12 foot jon boat but thought the pro 170 would be perfect for me considering what i usually fish. I live on the eqst coast and fish a lot of rivers fresh and brackish. Should i just opt for this modeo instead? It looks like a 55lb thrust would push it fine so keeping a 12 volt system works for me. Any reql downsides?

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! If you can afford bumping up to the 175 I would do it. Great all around fishing platform. Would suit your fishing needs. I really don't have anything to complain about except when I'm in really high winds the edge 45 trolling motor struggles a bit. If you can get a 55 pound trust I would do it to stay in the 12 volt system and help keep the weight down. Love my Tracker.
