One of the few 70s dance songs that still holds up. Billy did not live long enough to get the adulation he deserved. I think it would have happened with release of The Beatles Get Back movie , which in part showed Billy's impact on the band in the songs Get Back and Don't Let Me Down.
HUH? I think he got the adulation especially after one of his final live performances with the Concert for George Harrison. he brought the house down with My Sweet lord
Playing the piano on the left is the late great Hubie Heard from the Cogic church on Woodburn Ave in Cincinnati. Part of Billy's famous God Squad. R I P Hubert and Billy a dynamite team.
@@fitztube4me my friend in Cincinnati went to the church where Huby was the organist. One Sunday in the early 70's Billy was in town and attended a service and was so blown away by Huby's playing and performance that he took him back to L.A. that week and had him in his band. Huby also toured with Billy on a European Rolling Stones tour in the mid 70's. Thanks for your comment
Billy Preston is bad ass!!! One amazing musician when your asked to play with bands like the Beatles. Your the real deal!!! Much respected in the music industry. World class talent. Great song. Has many more.
I was about 11 when this came out. I thought it was Willie Go Round in Circles. Wasn't until I bought the 45 that I finally saw the real name, lol. Wonder how many kids thought the same thing
Billy Preston put on a fantastic show hosting the Midnight Special and his song ending version of That's the Way God Planned It sends shivers up your spine as he dances to the outro.
It's been a long time since I've heard this song! This song has got some melody. 💃 That.brass section is incredible! Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing! 💖 Happy Holidays! 🎄 ✨️🎁🦌🎅🤶🧑🎄🎊
I remember going to the George Harrison concert in Philly during his India music era and Billy was the opening at. The audience gave more applause and standing ovations for Billy and booed Harrison !!!! The two concerts were total opposite! Billys was ALIVE and George's was DEAD !!!
It’s interesting. Billy never looks down at his keyboard. He must have a great sense of touch. It’s almost like he doesn’t have to use any brain cycles to play his synth. (At 1:54 he’s playing what? An electronic harmonica? I’ve never seen one before.)
This is why George Harrison and The Rolling Stones invited Billy to tour with them. Infectious energy.
Everyone should be as happy as Billy is in this video.
Dude had stage presents to spare.
That fro, that keyboard, that sound. Long live the 5th Beatle. 70s funk at it's best

Definitely!
🙈
So true!

@@recordguy4321 I Love that rendition of “My Sweet Lord” w/Paul McCartney and many other great musicians. Not sure of the year it was performed, hmmm
Lol…his ‘fro was the absolute best! Unforgettable! 😊
The drummer has the highest cymbal I have ever seen!
Interesting, that. It may have been so that the cymbal didn't cover the drummer's face with the camera angle they used...
Gotta appreciate the acrylic drum kit!John Bonham started using an acrylic kit around this time as well.
I remember this song from the 1970s. It is definitely a classic. May Billy Preston rest in peace. Cheers!
Billy was amazing.
I love a good Afro-Fest to start things off.
Yeah mon!👍
He has an amazing ‘fro!
Iadorenewyork1 yes an amazing fro both he and Grand Funk Railroad’s Don Brewer sported!

That was worth a second watch! Billy has such infectious energy! Great performance of a great song!😀💜
How about those hot horn sections we have seen behind Billy, Al Green and B.B. King!
@@brötzmannsax Yes!! Fantastic! This song for sure wouldn't have the same effect without them!
This song has enchanted me since I was a boy - the joy/energy, the lyrics - just so pure...
Personal anthem since I was a little kid.
The first big band I ever saw, when they opened for Deep Purple in Evansville Indiana in Sept of '71.
Billy Preston the best!
Show man!!!!!!!!!!!
Midnight Special the best youtube Channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
brothers got the chops bro 🚬😎
Oh hell yeah! Thanks!!!
The horns were incredible, and the vocals had such great energy!
No guitar player or bass player too. I bet the bands of today can’t even survive without either one, but Preston did!!! Amazing 🤩

Used to date Huby back in 73-75... great memories.
RIP~ Hubert James Heard

Does this one ever take me back.
By far the coolest individual to ever live.
-NOTHING FROM NOTHING LEAVES NOTHING - BILLY PRESTON.
My favorite Billy Preston song. 💙💙💙
Here we go round in circles again, thanks Billy Preston!!
These “mini” segments are great!!
Such a Kool Kat. 🐈⬛ 🎹 🎙️

This is what my life feels like. Going ‘round in circles. I’d kill for a day that looked downright square.
😂
This is a great performance
Saw him live around this time. Amazing singer, dancer and keyboard player. Audience all went wild, such a positive vibe.

Billy had unreal talent. Listen to how he played the organ when he was a teenager...
Excellent upload. Love the horn section. RIP Billy Preston
I kept expecting for the Blues Brothers to appear on stage
what a disaster that would have been. Billy was the REAL DEAL not a comedy act that played rhythm and blues.
@recordguy4321 it was just the vibe
No offense meant
I'm a 70s kid so I appreciate it all
Classic from 1973! ❤️🔥
👏👏👏👏👏
That's a SupaAfro pickin' up signals from outta space ✌️
Billy Preston was a spectacular talent! In case anyone is wondering he finally got rid of that giant afro around 1977 or 78.
He was tired of having to pick it out every day!
❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Amazin musician on the Midnight Special 🎉🎉
Oh yeah,,go Mr Preston
Best fro ever.
Love his music; makes me happy and want to dance.
How have I never heard this before??? Love it!
Best teeth gap since David Letterman :)
There is nothing about this video that isn't amazing.
He got a horn section
Aint got no afro’s
HA HA good one
Saw Billy playing in Eric Clapton's band at msg.. worth every penny and then some
Ain't nothin but rock And roll y'all
The fifth Beatle😂
Yes he was and an amazing talent too !
And the sixth Stone!
Epic f’n triple-keyboard attack.

A melodian, or something spelled like that.
It's called a Melodica. Hohner made one. @@artgreig7069

Love the fake wig. Sudo Afro . Awesome look. Big time influencer. A real influencer
you know the sh#t is real when you have not 1 but THREE fros in the band...
Great song but too much repetition.
why go round in circles when you can fly like a bird ☝️ way up in the sky
It was more acceptable in 70's pop music.
