Honestly, I watched this video a year ago and I said"pff I doubt life is a fairytale like they've said" But All I got here was just that, a fairytale story that I still can't believe I am a part of.. A Year later, I can say this was the best choice I have EVER made and I recommend it to anyone!!! It made me feel like I am important and I felt like all my new friends cared..in a way that I can't describe. I feel at home and I was homesick...I walk in my hometown proudly wearing my leather jacket!
@damdude2 The song is It's a Beautiful Day by Tim McMorris and is licensed by AudioJungle. We loved the happy energy of the song. Also, we thought it sounded a lot like Bedouin Soundclash, whose members were students here!
@GudLuckCharmz Hi there! There are no cable connections in rooms - but there are televisions in common rooms and in retail dining outlets, like the Lazy Scholar and Gords. Students often hang out in common rooms or at the Scholar to watch favourite shows together!
On the + side though, it's again, a good university to study because you're kind of stranded 3 hours away from Toronto. Have a lovely library, like Stauffer that's closed till 1:45am after October then February. Profs and staffs tend to email you back relatively fast. At least I felt that when I was applying to university and calling to ask questions.
I would love to go to Queen's for science but I'm not really involved in a whole bunch of clubs, would this make it difficult to get accepted? I swim on my school's swim team twice a week and that's about it.
I want to go to queens and become something in the medical field, how well academically do you have to do, I do things outside of school like cadets, Lifeguarding, and kickboxing, some in school clubs
Good question! To get into the Bachelor of Science program, we would recommend you try to have an average in the high 80s and above. We will also consider the Personal Statement of Experience, which would include all of your extra-curriculars. Good marks and a strong PSE will get you to Queen’s!
I am good at my extracurricular but with 70% in UG and 7.0 in academic IELTS, could I able to get an admission in queens university for MS in computer science.
Currently, the Competitive Average for Admission Consideration listed on our Admission Requirements page is 80+. You can find out more on our Admission Requirements page where you can search the requirements for your desired program: www.queensu.ca/admission/about-applying/requirements
It's not fair, just because I'm not Canadian, I'll have to pay the tuition fees 30 times more than they pay! It reduces the chance for me to go there! :(
@HelloCaille anyway because they either ignore you or push you off to the side. I have written many letters to them of my disgust with this apartment and barely anything has been done. Our cupboards are rotten for frig sakes and there are pests crawling from them! When they came to fix the problem they said there was nothing they could do about it until we caught one of them... are you kidding me?! We told them what type of bugs they were and they didn't do anything!!
@HelloCaille into our garbage with out disposing of it properly. They were supposed to come fix our soap dish last week but never showed up. As for painting, they just retouch spots that have been peeled off. I am not living here next year- I advise anyone thinking about living here to just live in the ghetto or rent another place. It's honestly disgusting (I mentioned that in my previous post but I said discuss, obviously not discuss lol) and their staff and maintenance are not helpful in
@doubtfuldreamer Please know that there are many people and services on campus that want to help you feel happy and supported. Go to the Student Affairs web site for a list of services, or call Counselling Services at HCDS (613-533-6000 extension 78264) to book an appointment with an experienced professional counsellor.
IT'S A GREAT UNIVERSITY TO STUDY, BUT GRADE 12'S, SOON TO BE FROSHS, please don't pick the university because it's pretty. Because I think every student here realizes when the rain comes down hard, it just looks like a bunch of buildings. Look for the good profs, aim high, go into a competitive program. I think Queen's has some good profs here, and they'll tend to care more about you from 2nd year, when class sizes are finally just under 150-200 :D
Queen's student housing sucks- Don't go there, it's a waste of money. Repair people never come to fix anything, if you fix it yourself it's considered damage. We found pests once we moved in. They raised the rent to around $100 from last year. They did not clean before we moved in, nor painted- we could see food still on the stove, calcium build up on sinks and tub and the tub was clogged with a discussing jumble of who knows what- worse part is, when someone came to fix that, they just put it

Erin, swimming is great! It can be a job, volunteer work, working on the farm, helping take care of siblings after school. It all counts.
Does the res have cable connection in the rooms? or are tv's only allowed in common areas?
I really want to go to queen's university for teacher education! I'm going to study my hardest and get good grades and hope to get accepted in :)
We wish you the best of luck! :)
I want to ask a question. To get accepted, on top of good grades do you need alot of extracurriculars and/or job experiences?
MsDreamGirl098 Not necessarily, but we do look at what you do outside the classroom. We're looking for engaged students.
@sruthiize Yes there are a lot of clubs and extracurricular activities here at Queen's. Visit myams.org to find out more!
