An hour plus listening to Ivan is like a visit to heaven in my eyes. You hardly ever hear the same story twice, AND Ivan is a fount of knowledge about many things in the world of automobiles. I really wanted to know about that magnificent locomotive on his shelf. So come on Ivan, please tell us all about it!
Thank you Lara and Ivan! All of Ivan's work needs to be saved and passed on, from the Bugatti Trust to the VSCC to Ivan's TH-cam channel. My family's race team has operated a machine shop and raced continuously since 1928. When the old timers are gone, all of that specialized knowledge goes with them. I deeply regret not learning more metallurgy and machining tricks from my grandfather and uncle when I was younger. Now I am the last generation that wishes to be involved with the shop. --Dr. Paul Lynn, Hochkraeusen Racing Team, Southington, Ohio, United States
I truly wish yourorganization had a presence here in the U.S. The emphasis here, currently remains highly restored muscle cars. When our shop takes a car to a show, such as our 1924 BSA, what I most often hear are comments like, "BSA never made cars". My usual response is to go read a book. It would be very nice to be able to speak to an organization such as yours about vintage sports cars as there is so little interest here. I have a personal interst in vintage trials and hillclimbs, as that is what my grandfather did in the 20's and 30's, but alas, there is no interest here. When I try to engage the Ford Model T and Model A clubs about such things, they are aghast, as they very much do not wish to get their overly restored cars muddy! Best regards and thanks for your continued coverage, it is much appreciated! --Dr. Paul Lynn, Hochkraeusen Racing Team
Thank you so much. I really try to allow for Ivan and everyone I interview to have space to speak- and try to create broad questions that can allow for that to happen . X
I'm a lot younger than Ivan, and I can't remember what happened last week, let alone 70 years ago. Ivan's recall of events, details and names is very impressive. Along with his wonderful sense of dry humour. Thank you.
Thank you for such a important video the early history of British motoring with special emphasis on Bugatti Austin 7 BL Minis and others please make a part 2 because i honestly think this has just scratched the surface wonderful memories so many untold stories of the lofty British personages who owned so many wonderful cars that Ivan worked on or drove or bought and sold ,Loved the video Thank you all.
Even watching from a ross that big blue thing, I can see that Ivan is a treasure and his stories and knowledge need to be preserved. Thank you for your part in doing so. Perhaps another visit could be arranged in the future?
Thank you so much everyone for enjoying this interview with Ivan. I do hope you continue to watch our other interviews. Ollie, myself and The Vintage Sports Car Club are so excited to share them with you. X
Big thanks to The Vintage Sports Car Club and Lara Platman for the great interview! It opened up a lot of the winding paths of Ivan Dutton's career. I call this interview the Dutton Hill interview. We certainly haven't heard everything about Ivan's history yet. Thanks also to Susie and the staff at Ivan's workshop and especially the patient John! Can we get a continuation of the Ivan Dutton interview where we would also hear from the directors of the Bugatti Museum and Tim Dutton etc... We haven't reached the Dutton Hill goal yet!
Diamond Geezer is a much misused term ...Ivan is the real thing , fantastic stuff yet again. Think Susie would have made a better job of interviewing tho .
From memory his adds used to be the most entertaining rants, no one was safe! Banks his best target. Sadly he stopped them. I used to flick straight to them.😂
We are a broad church and like anything with an engine but there is definitely scope for an Ivan Part 2 interview that focuses more on his vintage cars.
The Bugatti is more than a car to Ivan its an object of veneration worship by similar cultists who can afford to buy them. He should also worship is mate John who is a brilliant mechanic/ machinist! Love the vids!
Now here is a man who could talk a glass eye to sleep sweet Jesus I lasted about 30 minutes and fell asleep I would not go as far as to say he is a treasure but I bet he is worth a few bob though!.

When it comes to automotive storytelling, Ivan is the new A.F. Rivers-Fletcher. Golden.
Ivan is a legend. It's terrible what his grandson did to him.
Delightful...
Cordialement,

Being done by the Vintage Sports Car Club, I wish they spent time looking at the rest of his Vintage cars instead of the newer ones.
good point
