lol well that's good. I did think of it while doing the No.4 Mk.2 and after wrapping that up, thought what the hey...I want to drag out the No.5 so why not just make it a 2 parter for Christmas? Actually wanted to shoot the No.4 but haven't found where I stashed my .303 ammo. It'll turn up eventually.
I built an smle carbine using a 1915 B.S.A. receiver about 7 years and I absolutely love it I want to say the barrel is around 19in or 20in long not to sure but it is an awesome little rifle I had one of the jungle carbines in .308 but unfortunately got rid of it long ago
Appreciate this very thorough and interesting review have enjoyed much of your content thoughtful and engaging happy holidays and a prosperous new year
I just acquired my first Jungle Carbine in July . I have not had a chance to shot it yet . My parents had passed away & sold the property where I did my shooting . I just have not found a place to shoot & I would prefer private verses public
That was the seed for what has become the cabin. I'd shoot at a place for awhile but eventually loose it; friends move away, property sold, or just otherwise live moved on. So I'd loose my spot time and time again over the years.
Merry Christmas! I have never owned a No.5 Mk.1 but I have heard that allot of them have been pitted with the cordite ammo they used at the time and may be unsafe to shoot but your rifles look great! My Grandfather does own a couple No.4 Mk.1 FTR rifles though, one is Maltby the other is Fazakerley and they are great shooters. About a month ago I found two No.4 Mk.1 Barrels at a flea market for 15$ each! After the shock from hearing the price I did a basic bore inspection on the spot expecting to see a smooth or pitted bore but the rifling looked great! I snached them and later found one of them was a 6-groove Savage No.4 Mk.1 barrel, I did a more in depth breech & muzzle inspection and they are indeed in quite good condition, I suspect they are probably from old Greek stock. I am hoping to save up some money to buy some No.4 Mk.1 actions which will make for a good project. Hope you are doing well, I dont have the time to watch all your videos but I love the personal stories behind allot of your collection!
Yeah I've come across a lot of Enfields in general that had corrosive ammo shot through them. Then put up and never cleaned causing light putting in the barrel. I guess the corrosive surplus ammo was common back in the day when they were being sold. Because I find that issue often
No ex military or police for me but I'm as big a gun guy as youll find. I think of lot of it springs from me growing up in the country, being around guns, target shooting 22s at 8 years or so on, and just the culture as a whole.
I never understood why the British didn't just adopt the US M1 Carbine instead. Having a light handy semiautomatic rifle would've been a better choice for jungle combat in my opinion.
Hi Misha, I have an smle that my grandpa gave to me years ago. Unfortunately it was sporterized, I wish it was in military configuration. Do you know who imported and did sporterizing on them. I assume perhaps Sears and Roebuck? I hate that it was all hacked up but at the same time I treasure it because it was grandpa's. Keep up the great work, I enjoy the history and knowledge you share. Merry Christmas from Ohio.
Most were actually modified by their owners or by local gunsmiths. Importers didn't often do the work because well..it was work and tus cost them time and money. Typically, most businesses would give the option to add a scope + rings; stopping there.
heeh not yet; didn't have time to get a tre this year but its #1 on my list for Christmas 2025. In fact, i thought it might be fun to invite Patreons to send in things to hang from the tree so its more of a community project?
And a Happy New Year (I hope) to all!!
I was secretly wanting you to do the jungle carbine video

I really love these, the jungle carbine is the first gun I ever owned, 20 years ago. I still don't have the bayonet, I need to get on the ball.
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!
Merry Christmas
I want a TGI Hungarian AMD65 with the box for Christmas. Next year haha.
Only way I'll have a jungke carbine is through the grade C RTI. But at 299, I'm waiting for maybe a price cut to 249, lol.
Grabbed one of these, a Gibbs in .308.

I've seen Ishapore 2A1s converted to jungle carbines. Want to get one of those
There's a pretty neat 'tanker' version of the 2A/2A1 out there too.

Owned one, gave it to my brother and he sold it. Kicking myself in the butt.
Happen to have any videos on the Browning Automatic Rifle?

@misha5670 I appreciate the info. Thank you sir.
Has Peanut climbed the Christmas tree yet ?

@@misha5670 Good idea !
Is the wandering zero a real thing on the jungle carbine, or is it greatly exaggerated?
A question that has been asked for nearly 80 years....literally!
We love your videos, but please stop asking for money. it’s the first button to press to send a message 90% of us don’t have enough to give
Unfortunately the videos you say you love cost money to make too. So funds have to come from somewhere.
Yea walther, chill dude. Don't tell another man not to try to make money. Thats just silly.
Merry Christmas Misha!
