Update: 10/22/2017 Echo has voice recognition which ties back to several features including music and calling. You can now make calls to your phone contacts or to any number ("Call 222-555-0126"). This works for most phone numbers in the US, Mexico, and Canada. Upgrade also adds caller-ID. 10/6/2017 If you have an existing landline or VOIP phone, you can now purchase the Amazon Echo Connect for $34.99. The device will allow you to make calls to contacts or local businesses including 911.
I was looking for an answer that I did not find here. When hanging up with Alexa do the people on the other end hear you say “Alexa hang up” Or is there a different way to hang up?
Wasn’t till this video, that I finally realized that I could just tell Alexa to “hang up” to stop Drop-In mode. Would always take forever by going through “Stop Drop-In”, “Cancel Drop-In”, etc. This is simple stuff I never seen shown in other videos.
Great video Rose! But I'm still not buying this...I'm too much a fan of the tactile experience of operating switches and pressing keypad buttons. I own a Blackberry:)
I have an Echo and want to call my mom's Echo across town. Neither she nor I have the app on our phones. How do I call or message her specific Echo device?
I understand Alexa now, (July 2nd), allows users to block calls on a per name (contact) basis. Has anyone confirmed this? That would make this service much more attractive to many.
I moved from a personal to a brand account on TH-cam. In doing so, I lost the hundreds of comments I’ve made since early 2016. I apologize that all the data was lost, but we can start again. Let me know if you have a question, even if it’s a repeat!
Hey Lindsay. I don't have a way to test this, but Amazon says it's possible. However, according to Amazon, "Just make sure the contact you want to reach is in a location that also supports Alexa Calling and Messaging." Not all countries are supported. I think Echo recently launched in Austrailia. Not sure if it's shipping or pre-selling though. You can view other countries here: www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202207000

So will the Amazon Echo and Echo Show work with your iPhone, as long as you download the Amazon app?
Jasen Gonzalez yeah but anyone you want to call has to have the Alexa app. Most of my friends dont have an Echo or the app so its useless.
It works over voip any number can be called from the echo dot- but they will be picking up their own phone not a dot unless they have one
All my contacts are not on my alexa app

I am situated in the U.K. Can I call anyone with an Alexa device in, say the U.S.A, or Australia?
