this was the last thing I would have expected. Mai has always seemed so happy all the time, and me and my friends have always been jealous of her. But seeing this video proves that people you would have NEVER expected, could be having a worse time then you. Everyone has there own problems but if you really step back you can realize that some people have it harder then you think. I love mai so much and knowing she has and is currently going through a hard time breaks my heart. Mai is literally my only motivation for making videos and school vlogging, and its really sad to hear this.

I really understand how you feel, ive been bullied since i was 8 (im 14 now) I would beg and beg to be home schooled. i was punched, spat on, pushed, had my head slammed into walls, i was called every damn name you could think of, i was humiliated in front of the whole class and by teachers to. I feel into into a very deep depression. I would never go to school, i would cry myself to sleep. I was VERY suicidal. I finally started homeschooling this year ,ive seen multiple therapists but it doesnt work for me. I dont get sleep because of the suicidal and depressing thoughts i have. My grades have completely dropped. My anxiety is through the roof. I have 1 friend which is my mum. I just want to let you know, you arent alone. Much love mai

I know exactly what your going through. I’ve been to 6 schools in my life, and move over 30 times. I’ve tried so hard to not make friends and focus on my work so I can do good and get good grades but it didn’t work. This is my first year in online school and I love it. I’m in a foundations of algebra class which helps a lot because I moved so much I never really learned the basics of anything so I was always behind and also that I started school really young. Hopefully we both do good in our school changes. Along with finally making good grades. I wish you luck in all that you do. I’m happy I get to watch your videos and am able to relate. I hope you never stop doing what you love. That is the only thing that truly makes you happy. I’m sorry I am writing a lot but I just wanted to get it out. I’m happy that you’re where you need to be and you feel like things will be easier from now one. Your amazing 😉

I recommend kahn academy and acellus/power home/online school that's what I use and I love it and once a week I go to the library and research whatever I want that day or just read
Hannah Harlow I went through acellus. I graduated early. Got it free through the school but it’s very expensive

9:45 that’s how much school affects mental health with stress, anxiety/ anxiety attacks, panic attacks. It’s actually kinda sad that school can affect someone’s stress level
When I watched this when I was younger I couldn’t rlly understand this feeling of being unmotivated but now that I’m older I relate to this so much I just moved schools and like a year ago and the teachers, students classes etc I can’t click with them and it’s not them it’s just me mentally

I remember way back when you posted this I related so much. Been diagnosed with ADHD since I was a young child. Makes so much sense years later when you now know you have it and talk about it. It’s crazy how many of us have issues with school. I’m currently working on becoming a teacher so I can help students who struggled in these ways. School can be actual hell.

Public high schools are hard. 4 years of depression, stressed and boredom really took a toll on me during my teen years, I was so close dropping out but with the support of friends and family, I made it out and graduated with my diploma. Since then, I never look back. 4 years was a grueling nightmare. Oh and another thing, I heard that people with GED are much better and flexible than people with high school diploma but I don't know, I think it's just a rumor. No offense to anyone. But high school was hell.
When I was 15. Like 15 years ago. Im 30 now. I sacrificed so much to be the best and be a good student. But the reasons I was working so hard to be good perfect was to deserve love. And when I didnt get it, I rebelled and flunk a lot for the next 2 years until I fail a lot of exams. I wish I had the ability to quit school at 15. It never occured to me it was an option. Putting up with school was so toxic for me because I never enjoyed the people there, the teachers there, and just basically everything makes me feel blank. But Im glad I found some courage to do what I love despite sucking at school because it no longer interest me. I put up doing things that was expected of me and I was quite depressed and suicidal. I survived some self harm episode and told myself to get the exams over and done with so I can get the marks I need to enrol to college. The teachers and friends had zero relationship to me. I taught myself and tutored myself. I didnt fail any papers for the real national exam. It took me 2 months to get my sh*t together. And a lot of metal music. Anger inside me for things I refuse to accept became the fire for change for me to take action. I stopped caring or being considerate to other peoples opinions or feedback about my presence. I ignored friends and teachers who gives me bad vibes and keeps criticising me every chance they get. And I work hard to just mind my own business and do what I love on the side. Which was going online and being a really entertaining person for a 17 yo without using youtube 13 years ago. It was nice to be accepted without any judgement for people who like you for how you speak and not the way you look, or what grades you get, or being compared to other friends in your class by teachers, and teachers not playing favourites. So I know I shared a long detailed comment. But this makes me feel like hey, you are brave for following your sanity and peace of heart Mai. Super brave. Brave kudos to you. All the best in ur on9 classes. You can definitely make it happen. 💗💗💗

i went through a huge depression in my sophomore year where i left school did online then came back 3 months later to a whole new school where 1 person knew me and i completely flunked that year so i understand. this video is very comforting because the struggle in high-school is real and sometimes it feels like you’re the only one having a hard time and everyone is fine and that there’s something wrong with you but no it’s actually so so so common due to all the changes we go through in our adolescence, we are becoming a different version of ourselves so that stress combined with the stress of school can definitely make a teen flunk. super proud of you Mai keep at it.

I honesty just want to hug her because I know what she’s going through. I moved from NJ to CA and it was completely different obviously because it was a different coast but I was from a small school to a school with 5,000 kids mind you I’m a junior and I had zero friends and i knew no one whatsoever. My depression started to come back from when I was in middle school and I tried so hard to get back to how happy I was when I was back in Jersey. I haven’t really clicked with anyone yet and it’s been three months and I’ve been trying to convince my mom to let me do online school but unfortunately she’s not letting me get that option. This video I can really relate to me I’m going through the exact same thing idk if you’ll read this but I just want you to know your not alone and I hope you are doing better

Hi Mai, when I was a freshmen I lost all my friends and struggled with depression and multiple suicide attempts. I was skipping almost every day and started doing connections academy and it is amazing. im a sophomore and 16 now and im planning on going back to public for senior year. Online school has really helped me alot. Now I do about 2 1/2 hours of school a day and im in my own home and comfortable and happy. I hope things get better. xx
This is exactly what I went through when I left as well. Teachers kept telling me I had so much potential if I just applied myself but no one could really see that I was trying my best, but I simply was not in the right mental mindset for attending school at that time and I did what was best for me at the time by leaving and i'm much happier now. You can get through it, and you will succeed in whatever you do!

I know exactly what you are/were going through. I changed schools from year 10 to 11, from 50 students in a grade to 150. From the start no one liked me and I ended up leaving 2 terms into the year. I now do adult education and I'm feeling so much better, and in 6 weeks I will be qualified and able to have a full time job

So I missed the first week. I started catching up gradually, but after awhile I was feeling depressed. My mom later then enrolled me in online school. i genuinely know how you feel, this is how i felt before i dropped out. i was in a different situation but the outcome was pretty much the same. i genuinely came home every day never being in the best mood and i left, i felt free and a lot happier. i sometimes miss it, but i often just don't mind anything.
my careers advisor told me, if i wanted something badly, i should do it. it's about what makes me happy not other people

As a big sister to someone your age, I’m glad you’re making this decision. Even when you’re talking in this video I can start to see the struggle well up in your eyes. I’m sorry you had to leave your old school, it’s hard to leave such a tight knit community that really has your best interests at heart. I feel like online schooling will help with the pace of your learning, but it may hinder you having those social connections. Ik you said it wasn’t your focus but I still think you should seek out some friendship, talk to someone you can trust that isn’t a family member. Solitude in mass amounts can really take a toll on you, we really are social creatures. You don’t have to make a ton of new friends, you can just build on the ones you have. Take a trip back to your old town, visit your family. All in all, you made the right decision and I hope it’s smooth sailing from here for you. If you ever need a friend💕
