Two things: as a top-level cricketer he's faced thousands of balls in the nets, and also probably faced a bowling machine a lot. Once you get used to facing a bowling machine, you almost get it muscle memorized and you can tell from when you hear it released to how fast it's coming. It's quite an incredible ability. I think the last full toss he hit was really the best, because all the previous ones were pretty much the same line and length.

I think it's not possible because for blind people cricket the ball sounds and is thrown underarm and batsmen understand the line and its proximity from the sound the ball creates while its on its way to the batsman. The confidence of KP on the strokes make it unbelievable.
