  • Today I am fabricating the front side panel with step for the CJ3B Welder Jeep. This is part 2 where I finish up the panel. Drain hole installed, bending the step on the press brake.

Metal forming was great to watch. CJ3B was my very first car and it was great to watch you exercise your skill set.

Been binge-watching your videos over the last few evenings. Really enjoyed the tour through your barn looking at your project Jeeps, especially the air compressor Jeep. Would love to see the restoration on that one! You have a lot of skill with working metal. It's amazing how you know just what needs to be done to make the metal do what you need it to do. Obviously you've had a lot of experience with sheet metal. I've learned a lot about early Jeeps watching your videos. Keep up the good work. I'll keep watching!

I'd deffinetly appreciate it. It's the last part I need got the new worm shaft coming in as we speak the new inner gears already here soaking the Ross steering gear box!!! And deffinetly agree not to use the grease zert setup!!! It killed the guts inside the box!!!!! So now after your videos it's given me the confidence to rebuild the gearbox, trans, transfer, axels, myself knowing it will be done right!🤗👍if possible would like to contact you via email with further Q? If I run into a snag?

You might try a “Sharpie Magnum 44 Permanent Marker, Blue” instead of layout fluid. They’re about five bucks apiece. I tried these years ago and have given up and lay out fluid. They dry almost instantly.

Sweet all try to find it?? Love all your videos wished I knew how to show the basket case I'm working on! Got the steering gear box off today a shame someone cut off the wormgear and outer tube and it's packed with grease inside!!! But following with some time and effort and your knowledge we're gonna resurrect an old 48 steering gear box👍🏆🏆🏆parts coming in having a troubled time getting the outer tube clamp!!! Any ideas ??? Or can you make one???

Ok, let me know if you find it or not. It has been a while so I don't know if my posts are still on the site. What happened to your clamp? missing? I can put you onto a few places where you can get one if you can't find one. Let me know.

I'd love to know how to do the tool indents on the side to be able to add the shovel and axe

A few years ago I did a tutorial on the CJ2A page forum about building a side panel with the tool slots. I don't go on the page anymore but I think the photo series should still be there. Search for posts under my username which is "metalshaper" and you should be able to find some of the posts I made. I did the rear side panel with indents, the front cowl supports, and showed how to fix a hood. Check it out, and let me know if you can't find it on the CJ2A page forum.
